Thanks qwerty. On a side note... okay, so after all this time I've been completely unable to do the throw KSD on any midweight class chars, let alone heavy ones, during a 10 minute training session the idea struck me to add a slight delay not only to the Ensenga itself, but also between the j.S and j.D... to my surprise it worked, and after about 20-30 more tries I'd managed to enkasu Axl (my usual training dummy, as Digital Watches is the best player I've met so far.. well, IMO at least) a grand total of 3 times! Not the best results, but now that I've finally figured out how to do it I can always practice it more later... So, this might just be my lack of research (I'm pretty sure I've checked out the enkasu thread, but it's been a while) but I've yet to hear anyone mention delaying the j.D itself, only the timing on the Ensenga. I've always been trying to do it with all the prior inputs being tight, no delay at all. I guess now I know why that never worked...

BROKENTIER - Clothing for virtual punchy game players
Chrome Homura replied to koogy's topic in Zepp Museum
...Don't you mean your "Sol"? I'd second those words actually, but for me there's more to it than that. Around here people wear shorts and T-shirts almost year round, but I wear jeans, long sleeved shirts and a leather jacket all year round. Especially in the spring, when there's sunlight but not much heat... that's the time of the year I'm most glad that the majority of my wardrobe is black, as that is the best color for preserving what little heat the sun provides... but I'm weird though. I'm quite skinny, so I get cold really easy, and only the hottest of summer days around here can make me even consider leaving my jacket at home. Even then I still bring it with me because I know it'll cool off in the evening. ...So yeah. That's why I voted for 4 and 6. I'm glad that at least 1 of the black shirts made the printer, even if... well, actually on second thought I do like the red better. I was hoping I could get the white art version, as I originally felt that would be easier for people to see, but I suppose it doesn't really make that much of a difference... Whatever. I'll be watching for those Pre-orders. -

Hot damn! Yeah, I'd probably wear any of those, definitely 1, 4, or 6... I'll probably order/buy 4 though. -

I'd pre-order that shit right now if I could get a black shirt with Red or white art/text. I can afford it for sure. -
Well, I can mist cancel, and made use of it a lot better later that night. Like KJ FRC, it's just something I didn't do much in those matches particularly. But enkasu... trust me, I've tried, and tried, and tried. I've spent TWO HOURS in training mode by now, doing pretty much absolutely nothing but trying to do that enkasu setup from corner throw you posted for OS... I can KJ FRC fine, do whatever air combo fine... but I just can't time that damn ensenga properly. I've spent a lot more time than that in total trying to do enkasu setups on various characters. Frankly, I have not had much success. The only characters I can successfully enkasu are Venom, Slayer (both with that same combo you listed for OS, but different timing) and lightweights whom you can actually do j.K j.S j.D, Enkasu on and not have to input the ensenga on THE LAST POSSIBLE FRAME before the opponent can tech. *sigh* I know playing JO is hard... but really, having to learn a different combo/ensenga timing on EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF THE CAST, never mind the fact that I simply cannot time it properly on the majority of them, is kind of.. well, frustrating to say the least.

Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to keep that in mind... although, I did those tension wastes (Return jack without a full meter to start with, wakeup OD vs. Sol) pretty much knowing full well what was going to happen. With the return jack, usually I'll do it with a full meter so I can RC the Return and try to mixup from there, but in that case I pretty much just didn't care. Although on second thought, at the time I think I was hoping I could get him with chip damage... though you're right, I would have had better luck just trying to use my coins. I had no idea the OS matchup was like that... thanks, none the less. As for the ODs... once again, I pretty much knew he was going to block. I wasn't sure whether it'd save me from the gunflame or not, but I dunno. It was like I could tell what was going to happen, but I couldn't stop myself from doing it anyway. I didn't feel like I was being baited, more like I just didn't care what happened. I did better in casuals later, after I'd warmed up more. Like, I take casuals super seriously, so I feel I would have performed better in the tourney if I'd just had more time to play before that. But then, I was also kind of irritated by the situation. We had a 16 person tourney with 2(!) setups, surrounded on all sides by Street Fighter players (their tourney had 70 people, with only a scant few multi-game players) Not to mention our setups were sitting practically right next to one of the big speakers, so even if there wasn't an SF4 match on the big screen, there was still shitty techno/rap music blaring in my ears practically the entire time. I really hated that, though I feel I kept my cool about it pretty well. And yeah, I know about the Mist Cancel thing. For some reason I still mess up it every once in a while, despite the fact that I know damn well I should have that shit down by now. I was doing better about not wasting so many coins on pressure later on that night, but... once again, casuals later. But then, I suppose I've made enough excuses. I need to practice against real people more.

Bloody-Knuckles: The "Main Event" 2/28/2010 Seattle, WA
Chrome Homura replied to HappyStick's topic in Archive
I too have a GG setup I could bring, (no TV though) just a PS2 and copy of AC+. Of course, that's assuming the stars align and I actually get to make this event. ...Well, come to think of it, my chances probably aren't that bad. 4 days is still reasonable time to make plans, certainly better than nothing. So I guess this might not be so bad a matchup -
So how far have you ever gotten in Survival Mode?
Chrome Homura replied to Blade's topic in Guilty Gear General
Well, I beat AC+ survival two more times. Once again with and then with my main man The second pot run was the same deal as my previous post. Slidehead shenanigans, etc, ad infinite'. I still managed to beat Boss Order Sol despite pretty much trying to lose at various times (I was demonstrating the horror that is fast Potemkin to my brother) Johnny on the other hand, was different. There's no real weakness to take advantage of with him vs the AI besides random Jack Returns (it's a stupid easy crossup, but the AI falls for it more often than you'd think) meaty attacks and of course throw setups. Once I got Life Recovery it was smooth sailing, although Gold Slayer gave me a real scare. I was at full health, he was at about 25%, and the timer was at like 3 seconds. I whiffed a random attack, and he hit me with a Dead On Time during my recovery, FRCing it and hitting me with something else, I think it was 5H, then the timer ran out. I swear, his health bar was like 2 pixels lower than mine. I was sure I was a goner, but then he slumped in defeat. I shook my fist in triumph and and took Vampire Form (I was so happy, after he'd ended so many of my survival runs I finally managed to beat him with a character besides pot) There were a couple close calls after that, but once again the ability to regain life (and much more of it at once, thanks to the superior bonus I now wielded) saved my sorry ass and carried it to victory. Maybe someday I'll consider trying to beat it without taking the special powerups >_> -
Articles about zoning, proper strategies for 'footsies', etc.
Chrome Homura replied to Arvoyea's topic in Guilty Gear General
Well, I was merely saying I don't feel it's very helpful (if at all) to most GG players. A lot of the terminology doesn't apply (that and "Footsies" is probably the most irritatingly stupid word I've ever heard) Hell, even during my occasional dabblings in SF4 I've won many a round doing hardly anything but retarded shenanigans, simply because the people I play with are that bad. And of course in GG If things look bad for me on the ground I can just take it to the air. Then again I don't play with actual people enough to really know what I'm talking about so actually disregarding everything I say might be a good idea. -
This isn't funny at all But it was inspired by something this forum needs to read. Unfortunately it's creator is too... I dunno. Busy? Lazy? Whatever the fuck he's doing, he's not posting what needs to be posted. This one's for you Alex.

Articles about zoning, proper strategies for 'footsies', etc.
Chrome Homura replied to Arvoyea's topic in Guilty Gear General
Well, I read all of those articles, and well... frankly I don't buy it. "Footsies" is a term applied to SF because last I checked they don't have to think about airdashes and your opponent being able block your "psychic" Shoryuken even if they're in midair. Jumping towards (or away from) the opponent is nowhere near as suicidal a tactic as it is in Capcom games. Thus there's a whole new slew of options for air to ground fighting that SF players don't have to take into account, but as GG players we must, that can pretty much negate the possibility of a large majority of the kinds of simple situations this writer describes. That's why you don't see pro GG players turtling as much (walking back and forth rapidly on ground? Yeah, that's turtling) It's plain unnecessary, not even taking Negative Penalty into account. But thanks for posting these anyway. Sometimes I need a good reminder of why GG is so much more awesome than anything else. -
So how far have you ever gotten in Survival Mode?
Chrome Homura replied to Blade's topic in Guilty Gear General
I cleared AC+ Survival tonight with ... I sorta cheated though. Since the AI doesn't know how to deal with Slidehead, especially if you set it up with 5HS or whatever... I pretty much spent the entire time doing that. (in the early rounds, 5H, Slide, hammer(B) into the standard 2K 2S Heat Knuckle was my basic combo. Or if I had 50% it was 2K 2S 2H Heavenly) Also, taking speed bonuses with Pot is so lulz-y. Once you can hammerfall across the screen from a random slidehead (or just walk up to them from 5H distance and combo) you can pretty much lock the AI down. Like, really. I don't even play pot, and I didn't need to do anything else to beat the AI. ...Oh, I almost forgot. I have two words for you: LIFE. RECOVERY. That powerup is by far the most broken bonus in the whole game. Once you have that and enough levels of Defense, you're pretty much invincible. I find it kind of ironic that such a simple strategy managed to work despite my many, many attempts to play this game's survival mode with Jo or Sol/Order Sol (You know, considering they're my main characters and all.) Gold Slayer was the farthest I'd ever gotten playing anyone else until now. -
Lately I've gotten really into March of The Wicked King, though actually I've been listening to the remix, which I actually like better for some reason. Don't judge me.

guilty gear, not loved by critics?
Chrome Homura replied to insanity99's topic in Guilty Gear General
I must say, second'd on KOF's cast being more awesome than SF. They do sorta win in the character design department. Though as far as gameplay goes, personally I prefer KOF because SF is far too slow for my tastes. From what I understand it's not as bad as BB (where if I remember correctly time outs happen even at high level play, and somewhat often at that) but still. KOF is nice and fast (even moreso than GG at times I'd say) and I like that even if I tend to fail miserably at it. I actually haven't played any KOF game in forever though, so meh. I <3 King though. -

Chrome Homura replied to insanity99's topic in Guilty Gear General
Wow. Really? How you could so blatantly insult GG's cast like that (here of all places, I thought this was dustloop for crying out loud!) is beyond me. You claim to have been a fan of Melty and BB (both of which have their own fair share of UNBERIVABARU DA ZE amongst their respective casts and storylines) and yet... "crazy ugly freaks". Well, I guess that's the way it is. Please, do us all a favor and take your "believable human characters" and shove them as far up your ass as your believable human hands can manage to do so. While you're at it, please try and get your head out of there first and consider the idea that not everyone wants generic looking people to take up the entirety of the cast (see Street Fighter lol) I'd imagine it's pretty cramped in that dark, smelly place by now. -
WTF, I got countered? THAT BITCH WAS BLOCKING GODDAMNIT! And it didn't even cost her any meter? HAX! Wait, it staggers too? FUCKSHIT THIS GAME SUCKS I QUIT. *slams door on the way out* A truer story hath never been told. ARE YOU- Okay! (Lol Buster Wolf) I find him hilarious. Faust is one of my favorite members of the cast. He makes both time and space his bitches and doesn't afraid of anything. Play Faust. He needs more friends.

Chrome Homura replied to insanity99's topic in Guilty Gear General
I'd say yes, but it all depends on your definition of "metal" I guess. The entire GGXX soundtrack (which is reused in Accent Core, but there are some new tracks) is easily found on youtube, I'd suggest checking it out. -
I've got the nagging feeling I could find the answer to this question I'm about to ask if I kept looking, but frankly I give up... I've heard many times of that AC glitch that allows JO to do the Jackhound for free... but all I know that it has something to do with mist stance, I don't really know how it works. Could someone explain it to me?
-
Dear god, me too. Then again, I'm not picky. I'd settle for humble folks, just so long as I could actually find somebody decent to play the damn game with. The only person I've ever played who isn't my brother is the very epitome of a scrub: he's pointed out to me blatantly many times that he just doesn't care enough about playing the game to put more than the slightest effort into it. (Then again, he still does pretty well with Order Sol. Rock it and Storm Viper are surprisingly spam-able, and sometimes he actually mixes it up enough with 2s's and other random shit that he'll pull out a match...)
-
This, exactly. I myself considered not bothering to play the game. I stuck with it because I love the cast (Johnny in particular of course. I can never say no to a Wakamoto voice, being the weaboo I am) although a bigger reason might have been the fact that I didn't really have anything else to do with my time. We have access to all the other big name fighters, but GG just takes everything I like about other games and makes it 10 times more awesome. So yeah, I think I'd rather play GG and just forget about other games. As another plus, having the original XX (too lazy to get AC... well actually that might change this month) means I get to practice dustloops too, just like in the site banner. TEYAH! TEYAH!

Pretty much nothing actually, the 3D graphics and the franchise name are enough to generate massive amounts of hype no matter how unimpressive the actual gameplay is. Not to say that it's completely terrible, but... you know. It's not GG. Wait that is enough to make it terrible wtf am I talking about

Uhh... wtf? The entire cast of SF is gay and and no one seems to mind that, how can one character cause such a response? wait. Nevermind. Too weird.

Well here we have it, folks. This is apparently the biggest reason Americans don't like GG. The characters are too weird.
