This is pretty awesome. Lead me to work out these corner-carry combos: Midscreen to corner: - 2C (FC) walk/dash 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > hjc j.C j.B j.A > land 5B 5C 2B > hjc j.A (2 hits) j.236A (cancel quickly into j.236236[D] delay j.214B delay ]D[) ~4439 (5304) damage, +38 meter (Costs 50 Meter) (Induces Fear) Note that you can end all of these combos with the Fear + corner oki that fubarduck mentioned (where j.214B hits just before the ]D[ explosion). The lower you are to the ground when you do j.236236[D], the easier it is. Edit: to get the Fear to hit first, and low enough that the explosion also hits, you need to do Bearscrew at the same level as or slightly below the opponent. They seem to fall slightly faster than you, hence it's easier to do this from a single jump than from a double jump. 3/4 screen to corner: - 2C (FC) walk/dash 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > hjc j.C j.B j.A > land 2B > hjc j.A (2 hits) j.236A (cancel quickly into j.236236[D] delay j.214B delay ]D[) ~4156 (5028) damage, +37 meter (Costs 50 Meter) (Induces Fear) If you 2C close enough to them, you should just dash to the other side and do the midscreen to corner combo instead. Corner to corner: - 2C (FC) 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] 5A 2B > hjc j.A (2 hits) j.236A ~3759 damage, +31 meter Like the other combos, you should be able to end this with a j.236236[D] into Fear + oki, but if the opponent (especially Yukiko) is too high up, the missile might not connect. If you want to end this with just j.236236[D] delay ]D[, then do 3-4 hits of j.A to make sure the missile will hit them. - 2C (FC) 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B > dash[6] delay 5AA delay 5B 236D 236236[D] (release D when missle away from opponent) > dash[6] 5B 5C 2B > hjc j.A (2 hits) j.236A ~4523 damage, +?? meter, Costs 50 Meter (todo: see if the 3/4 screen combo ender works for a little more damage)

On block, you can jump-cancel Teddie's 5A and 5AA and either air backdash to safety or (unsafely) continue your pressure. If you forward airdash you can (generally) be hit by the opponent's 2B, so it's not something you can do mindlessly.
-
Stole this from Japanese matchvids: 5AA 2B super-jump j.A (3 hits) j.B j.D Fall down on the opponent with j.A and it's a safe-jump. I've also seen players air-turn air-backdash to cross them up.

Thanks for hosting us, Worldjem. At first I was hesitant to go because of the long trip time, but even though I spent 7 hours travelling for 5 hours of offline Skullgirls, it was worth it imo. It was nice to meet you and Jason, de_Moro. That armour to grab thing you did with Bella was sick: I'd never have thought to use run as an anti-air. I'll definitely keep it in mind. Hope you guys keep practicing stick. Also, mash Parasoul assist. GGs guys!

worldjem check yo pms

If necessary, I can help run brackets for Skullgirls. But I'll need someone else to call matches and keep people on-deck while I'm playing my own matches.
-
You know, if by chance worldjem/others are gonna be playing Skullgirls offline this Saturday, I will most likely bus to Toronto to play you guys. I need to get my PS3 online again, as well. One way or another I need to get raped in order to improve.

This. Now that I'm starting to understand it, I'm finding Skullgirls to be a much better game than I originally thought. It's definitely not easy to get into, but the combos for my characters have actually been getting easier and more consistent (less character-dependent) since the release of the game. I'm having a lot of fun with it, as well. :D Not all fighting games died. Just anime fighting games. And it's because the only anime gamers playing Skullgirls are uberdeluxe and myself. Even the Capcom community at the Autoshop have more Skullgirls players than we do, which is why Ryan and I go there whenever they're hosting, now.

Shoutouts to Ottawa for being cool dudes. And shoutouts to Skullgirls casuals! It's really fun playing a new game from scratch and learning so much from every match.

MAD was a fantastic event. Even though there were no AH3 or Skullgirls tournies, I really enjoyed the casuals in both games and the MBAACC tourney. The whole thing made me mad hype, and this Saturday I'd like to resume the bi-weekly tournies that we started running last month. I'm hoping we'll be able to get more people out from Toronto and elsewhere for MBAACC and Skullgirls, as well. (Shoutouts to worldjem for showing up at our last 2 tournies. Hope you can make it to this one as well.) In short, I'm planning to run a multi-character MBAACC tourney from 2:00 to 6:00 (each person enters 2-3 times, depending on # of people entering), and a Skullgirls tourney from 7:30 to 9:30. All free entry, double-elim, and we'll stream them as usual. I heard K2 and Tim once upon a time went balls deep into MBAA, so I hope they will consider coming out.
-
Oh shit get hype.
-
Thanks, Hermes. Are these also hotel room groups or do we still have to make our own hotel plans? Moon, whoever you are, can you PM me? Reset Girls feels weird -- eight-button fighter! Haven't gotten a chance to play is Versus yet but I'm looking forward to it. Hope it'll be at MAD.
-
Hype! I heard you guys have room for 3 more people. Derek is in now as well, so he'll be able to drive us to Toronto to meet up with whoever's driving us. (I'm assuming skin is still in, too?) Just let us know where and when to be in Toronto. LiveWireX, do you guys have room for 3 more people? We could probably get a hotel room for ourselves if there's not enough space with other people.
-
Worldjem: due to exams, it looks like the only people going to MAD from Waterloo will be myself and Skub. Thing is, since Derek sounds like he's not going (for no particular reason), we don't have a ride yet. Have you decided if you'll be going?

Skullgirls is now an official tournament at Toryuken! http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/toryuken-road-to-evo-tournament-05-19-20-sfxt-umvc3-ssfiv-scv-mk-bbcsex-kof-t6.155303/

I was thinking, if you go to offline casuals, then you can try other people's sticks. Or just buy a TE since I don't think you can go wrong with that. :P As far as I know, all PS3 and Xbox360 joysticks should work on the PC, except for 1st-generation TEs: they don't work on certain nVidia motherboards, IIRC.
-
Don't buy a cheap joystick. They're so bad that even people who know how to play on stick can't play with them. Make sure the stick is a Sanwa or Seimitsu stick, and make sure the joystick case is heavy enough that you can do motions without shifting the whole thing around in your lap. You can save money on other aspects but do not compromise on this or you'd might as well not buy one at all. Madcatz TEs are an all-around good bet. In any case, try before you buy. Last thing you want to do is buy something for $80+ that's difficult or uncomfortable to use. E.g. I have big hands and I can't use the Hori VLX V3 because the slope along the edge of the case makes my wrists hurt. Even HRAPs are a little too small for me, but TEs feel great.

You should invite them to join us. Doesn't matter how good they are. Btw, 2v2 MBAACC tourney happening this weekend in Waterloo at our apartment: http://www.meltybread.com/forums/regional-community/east-coast-canada/msg101128/#msg101128

The nice thing about MBAACC is that it's on PC, so all we need to run a side tournament is a table and some chairs. At FRXV, we had 5 laptop MBAACC tourney setups running on a single table. For Toryuken, we'll have to see how many people own laptops that can run MBAACC, but we should have no problem getting 2 or 3 setups. It all depends on the venue having a table and chairs that we can use. The other game I'd really like to see with a side tourney is Skullgirls. It would actually require console and LCD resources, though. Anyway, consider me interested in MBAACC and Skullgirls side tourneys. (And if I'm there for those games, then I'd pot monster for BB as well.)

Fuck the last level. Stupid Jamestown. It's fun to play, but I hate it. Btw, shoutouts to Worldjem for coming yesterday and being super hype with us, and to Steve for PURPLE WITCH KICKS!
-
Jesus. I don't know what to say: I've never been in any situation like that before, not even close. Just glad they took the money and left without shooting anyone. And that girl... hopefully she quits, 'cause I wouldn't want to have to see her anymore after that.
-
That was amazing.
-
Tsujikawa is making me really hype for Tao. Edit: Nezu bang install is also SUPER hype.
-
You should come out to Waterloo and play HnK with LaN and MadScientist sometime.

I've C&P'd this thread to the rest of Waterloo. I'm glad there's FINALLY a semi-major tournament in Canada for airdashers. We're usually late finalizing plans, and many of our players will have exams around that date, but I don't have exams and I'll make every effort to be there. I'm interested in entering MBAACC and AH3 (if we can get enough people for a side tourney) for certain. I'll likely enter BBCSEX as well. Personally, I think the venue price is just fine. If we didn't have to buy food at the venue then we'd still be paying a lot to eat out elsewhere, anyway. A question: is ALL outside food and drink banned from inside the venue, including bottled water? Will there be any casuals the night before or the day after? We'd really like to get in as many casuals as possible in addition to the tournaments.
