[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Devdan replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
May absolutely does not look younger, you people are crazy. I hope the characters look good in action (and judging by Sol and Ky, they probably do) because the new proportions just aren't right. Chipp seems to have it the worst, with his super tiny head. -
I'm sure this will die within a week, but I have to buy it anyway. SC2 was the first fighting game I played with any degree of seriousness, thanks to it coming out during that brief time period when DDR made arcades kind of relevant again. Granted, I mostly just played conquest, and vs with the same one guy over and over, but I still enjoyed it a lot. Cassandra and Talim were the best, and I don't like either of them at all in 3 or 4. (and I just straight up don't like 4)
-
That seemed like a long-winded way of saying we aren't getting the Ketsui port. Oi, I don't want that game enough to spend import prices on it. Especially not when I could've picked up the Xbox version for like $20 used (but not played it, 'cause it's region locked). Oh, and stuff about Phantom Breaker. I played it once at an arcade and it seemed really clunky, but I also didn't really understand the mechanics, so whatever.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=9744 Not seeing it. If this list is accurate, she's only prominent in a few things, almost all of which are very recent.

Those results are kind of upsetting, or they were until people started saying that VAs were a factor, which makes it sickening instead. Oh well, at least Carl didn't place last, and Litchi was really low. Small victories, I guess. ...but Tsubaki, really? Who even voices her? *looks it up* Oh, someone I've never heard of, who isn't in anything I've ever seen. I guess this is because of Steins Gate? Japan's realy takes flavors of the month to a frightening extreme. Also, Kliff being dead last behind even NPCs in GG is pretty good.
-
No, Hayate is the Shinobi of the wind. He is a free spirit.
-
Of course Team O won, they're dressed like AKB48. *vomit*
-
Yeah, I mean BB, I've seen the GG ones already. It seems like the kind of thing someone would've written down. Some guy on gamefaqs said the GG results were 1. Bridget 2. Sol 3. Dizzy 4. Ky 5. Baiken 6. Chipp 7. Johnny 8. May 9. Jam 10. Slayer but nothing on BB.
-
So, do we know the results of the BB character popularity poll? I can't find them...
-
I'll take that as a no. From what I hear about the 3rd Strike scene, it seems kinda of similar. I wish I had been able to have that kind of experience with VF while I was in Tokyo, but my combined lack of Japanese skills, and fear of people in general made that kind of impossible for me. Also, if you can afford a taxi you are rich, and I am angry with envy. The couple times I missed last train I just stayed out all night. I mean, it's only like 4-5 hours...of pacing around, going in and out of conbini's, and maybe stopping at a Sukiya, and eating a beef bowl really slowly because it's cold and drizzling outside. Although on the bright side, when the only guy working there accidentally knocked my tea over, he was grossly apologetic, and gave out free ice cream! ...I'll stop the off-topic rambling now, I just miss Japan is all.

There's like 5 Club Sega's in Akihabara. Did you play at Taito HEY on that machine where all the buttons seem to work fine on their own, but somehow refuse to register when you try to do EX moves. Because I was pretty baffled by that thing. (only played one game on P2 side, or whichever side is facing the wall)

BlazBlue Question Thread - Ask your questions here!
Devdan replied to KayEff's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
A big plus to Extend is that, with Mu and the DLC available on-disc, you can bring it to someone elses house, and play it on their PS3 / 360 even if they don't have a save file. That always killed me in CS. I could never use my main. -
That last point. That's what I always do when I'm trying to learn characters with reversals. I main Jean, and I ignored his sabakis completely for like a month, but I use them a bit now when the opponent gets too predictable with PPP spam. (I still almost never get a low parry in though, unless the opponent is REALLY spamming 2p) Also, this is the best game, I'm glad somebody bumped the thread.

[VS] Engine Stratagems "Everyone can do ... except Anak :-("
Devdan replied to gbursine's topic in Vampire Savior
I know they already do that, hence 'further'. As a viewer, I find it painfully boring for every match to take place on the same stage. It's part of why I never found competitive MvC entertaining. -

Ug, the Fetus of God thing is just going to further encourage people to pick nothing but the default stage. -
Neat. Too bad it's on Xbox, and even if it wasn't I'm unebeliably bad at this game. Try to get people to pick random level select instead of going to the default stage every single time. This matters more for people watching than the 'hardest of core' seem to think it does.

After losing like 8 matches in a row last night with Q-Bee, I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea how VS is supposed to be played. Bleh. I wish I could use Bishamon in it, but for whatever reason he just feels too different than in VH, or the game itself is too different that I can't make him work at all. Everyone says Q-Bee's command throw is broken, but the game is so fast it seems like there's never an opportunity to land it...
-
Am I the only one who bought this collection without ever having played a DS before, and likes VH better than VS? I dunno, I've only put a little bit of time into either, I guess I just don't like the one long health bar mechanic in VS more than anything. I'm enjoying both, it's just slightly annoying that this collection doesn't seem to be getting much attention from anybody, and when it does it seems like it's a given that VS is the only game anyone cares about.
-
Definitely. I was surprising with how much I liked KoF13, but the netcode was literally the worst of any fighting game I've played, including CvS2 on original Xbox. I've fought another living breathing person in BB in the USA all of once, but the scene over here in Japan seems pretty healthy! At least in Akihabara, where I usually go. The Tokyo Leisure Lands both have like a dozen Nesica cabs, and there's always a bunch of people playing. I get matches online in CSEX faster than I did in regular CS (in the US) too. Too bad I leave in a month. It would've been neat to take this opportunity to hone my skills at one game in particular, but with BB, and VF, and like 5 bemani games I like, plus shooters...it just wasn't possible. Also, there are barely any KoF cabs over here.
-
Hopefully you are guessing wrong. SSE was such a bust, what a waste of resources. And I say this as someone who enjoyed the beat 'em up mode in Tekken 6.
-
Yikes, 4 characters sharing a stage is no good at all. I was gonna say Hazama/Relius/Nu/Izayoi, but I figured some of them only went to that stage because they were arcade mode bosses. Well, I'm sure they'll make some more stages for the home version. And maybe it won't force character stages in ranked this time around? Maybe? Possibly? Please? I seem to be player 2 improbably frequently (like, 4/5 times), and it's almost always Ragna when I'm not, so like, basically when I play ranked I go to one of two boring stages.
-
I keep thinking this game doesn't have enough stages, but offhand I can't recall what everyone's stage is. Does anybody know? I know Jin/Hakumen share one, as do Arakune/Tao, Azrael/Bullet, Rachel/Valk, Amane/Bang, Mu/Noel and or Carl or Makoto or Platinum or somebody (definitely somebody).
-
Mu's DD laser is faster? I guess that explains why my desperation DD to run in strategy never works anymore. Oh well, it was a crappy strategy anyway, but it worked a lot because people don't know how to fight Mu.
-
Really? That was the whole reason I wanted it, ug.
-
Well, one way or another, he was pulling it off a lot better and more frequently than most people I've encountered. [edit] To the above post; I don't usually do that (if I'm playing well), because Hakumen is the usually the one trying to close to the gap, so I just jump up (or back) and C. It usually works.
