  1. I'm stealing that. Edit:Sol.badguy, whats your 1 vs 1 strategy with Sol anyway?
  2. I have literally never seen or heard of any one countering VV with the 2y. NEVER. good players don't randomly do clean VVs, especially since it's virtually impossible to break someone's guard with the move under any circumstance. The things Panda says about Sol are exaggerated, because you need considerable skill in master fighting to compensate For Sol's ridiculous lack of range, and he doesn't do crazy damage on a consistent basis unless you REALLY know how to combo well with him, and your good at predicting and baiting bursts. Sin is stupid powerful, and doesn't need any praise, because his strength is obvious. oh, and even if Sol can get rid of banana's by destroying them, he is still vulnerable as hell when doing so. here you go neovid: http://www12.atwiki.jp/guiltygear2/
  3. yeah, that doesn't really say anything bad about AJ, except that he doesn't share it witch is lame, but I GUESS I can understand. Also, I don't think the VV glicth is gone , I was referring to the problem where Sol wont air dash even if you didn't air dash because he's in air too long. ....if that makes any sense. the VV glitchy thing is most likly in, ans well as all the dash installing and whachama-call-its. So yeah, go to play again after 2 weeks, playing aggressive Sol is MUCH funner then conservative Sol, but also makes me see a few things. 1) xsol is right about Sin, he is the single biggest obstacle of all the opponents For Sol. he can hide behind his units, and if Sol takes any counter measures to remove them, he sure as hell shouldn't be using gunflame, because that's an invitation for Sin to beak driver his ass for free. to move in general leaves Sol vulnerable, but Sin gets the biggest reward for this, and practically no risk. 2) my Sol master play is inadequate. I need to do big combos consistently, instead of randomly. times like these I wish someone wrote me a Sol combo guide.. 3) short dashing at an opponent is risky if not done with care. if Sin sidesteps when you short dash to him, you can't reach him unless you do a power attack to the left or the right (which is risky) because it's the only move that can reach opponents after a sidestep. also, SI can punish you if your not careful with you timing, even if you try to power attack him correctly. gotta get better with sol
  4. he got the game the day it came out, and he had A LOT of respect for the fighting engine in the game. he really knew how to exploit it. Kimera probably didn't enjoy the fighting game aspects to dig into it enough for it to be abused the way AJ did. here's an example of him explaining something to me, an exploit he used (there's a number of them that he discovered). this was said the last time I pressured him about sharing the VV glitch thing. the exact damage his VV would do to opponents was 220, as I posted on gamefaqs in the thread I took the following quote from. Now, with the VV glitch, its prorating the damage output like you would in 2d fighting games. Trick the system with a something, and your next hit does more. It has something to do with the L trigger. Like I said before, its like jump install and instant air dash install. A good example, kinda, but with this u will see a valid point that im trying to make... Have you noticed Sol's Not Locked on X attack swings from right to left? Then you do his locked on 4X which is the exact same move? Now, with the LOCKED ON 4X, side step and look at how long it takes you to sidestep. Now, do his LOCKED OFF x, then lock back on with either L or R trigger and side step immediantly and look how we tricked the system into him side stepping twice as fast than normal. This alone catches people off guard cuz they expect the specific frames from his locked on 4x, and know the speed of his side step and use this to their advantage, now with his LOCKED OFF X, look how fast you move and how much advantage you have now from moving around them in an instant. doing this twice can get you completely around the opponent and you have time to intercept them before they even land a hit. I gained so much advantage with this little technique, easily turning the tide of battles and catching people off guard. This is 'glitching' the system. Yes, I do abuse it due to me figuring out. Do I need this VV 'glitch' to win? Hell no, I've won many fights without using VV before to prove a point. I use this to my advantage in servant battles the most, and a lot of the time I use random characters in masters only battles. for your information, I have not taken advantage of the trick...ever, because I applied it wrong and I didn't see a use for it when I tested it out. reading it again after all this time, I can see it being useful. note he mentions tings like "jump install" and "air dash install". he never really told me how to preform these things, but I do recall him giving me an explanation. and through the magical powers of digging through old forums, I found it. Air dash install is to air dash when ur not suppose to, u trick the system. Its the same with jump install, you know, like chipps air combo after his 2hs? you do his 22hs after 2hs, and you teleports up at the opponent when they are lifted for an air combo, but you cant double jump during this. However, if you trick the system while doing a combo like... p,k,s, 2hs, 22hs... if u start to hold up around k ~ s, you can trick the system into thinking you jumped, so when u do his 22hs, you can do an additional jump. Its not hard to do, just takes timing. This is the same case. Some of sols combos wont allow him to air dash after a certain cancel after some moves while being in the air TOO long. Even if you didnt air dash, it will cancel out your option to do it. So you must air dash install. so yeah, I don't know how to pull this off in GG2, nor have I ran into a combo that would not allow me to air dash for being in the air for too long. it could be possible for it to be a glitch in the previous versions of the game that one of the later updates fixed. remember that this game used to be updated, the last update was to prepare for the PAL release, and it added stuff like the graphical effect for healing rods and giving Sol's units black blood. NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. I'll have nothing to do with it. not like the majority of fans even go to something like that article anyway.
  5. all right. but I need a URL or something to put on the FAQ saying it is allowed to be put on there. when I get that, I'll write it in, and you'll be allowed to mirror it. I really want to get the dialog for the in-game quotes the fighters say during Vs matches. do you still have the few that I handed to you before? I'm considering seriously resuming it and making it a more complete project. but it might have to wait a while.

  6. yeah, I hear you, but Flame master AJ was stupid good at the fighting portion of the game. like...it was retarded how good he was. if there was someone who made Sol seem like the boogy man, it was him; so Panda's words hold some credibility. like I said, I used to think masters only was a joke until I fought him HAHAHA! man I remember when I was actually stupid enough to fight AJ's Sol in masters only with paradigm once (I was trying to sub him and get used to master fights). OOOOH shit, that was ugly. I wanna do 225 damage power attacks and 300 damage on VV to BD. the video recording it has been removed. uh...what short amount of time I played MH3, I like playing as a gunner. fun. fun. point shoot, reload, fumble with the controls, fuck up on you roll, get pierced and die. it was worth it when you dodged like a pro. also running for your life when your the only target is pretty amusing. if only I had a wii.... OH! here' a tip because I feel like being a nice guy. When Sol short dashes into a Bandit revolver, he cannot "bump" into anything, which is why its such a good escape move. this can be used to pursue master in groups AND....Sol can chase master behind ghosts in this matter to a limited extent. he hits the ghost and goes right past it. I don't do it all the time, but it helps keep Sol on the opponent's ass, right where you want him. you wanna know something else? well, I almost never use it, but the few times I have, I feel like GOD. short dash at the opponent. when Sol short dashes, opponents almost never stay still (unless they SUCK) so they usually walk or side step to a side. look carefully on the side stepping and walking habits of the opponent and make note of them. this isn't only good for the standard side step stopping attack but something more epic! short dash, lock off, and power attack to the left or right. I did it on audio haddock and it was funny as hell. Flame AJ did it to me, and I was convinced he locked on to me or something until I asked him. really great way to mess with your opponent, as long as you DON'T' MESS IT UP because you really don't notice Sol's not facing the right direction when he does it. BEAK DRIVER!!!!!!! and with Izuna, its (L) x, x, x, (forward step) (F) x, y, (L) j, x, (land) x, 2x, x, j, x, 8y, (catch them during recovery) mash 8y when they get down to your level. does like 499 damage in most cases. if the guy doesn't want to recover, use 8x instead of 8y. I got killed with this online when I was paradigm.
  7. hmm. then I Guess I better start exploiting him correctly then. I am focusing a lot on servant play, and I guess that's why I'm losing. that, and despite me picking him all the time, I'm not really confident with Sol (well, I'm more confident in 2 vs 2, so I go a little more crazy there. I just enjoy 2 vs 2 a lot more, so I don't care if I lose when I'm playing teams.) So, I'll start doing the direct approach, and buy stuff to kill masters. man, I really wanna play this now. DAMN YOU SCHOOL!!!! and if Sol really is as strong as you suggest, then that makes him kinda balanced, seeing how UTTER SHIT his tribe is. how else could he win, making use of pencil guys?
  8. yeah, I admit, FlameAJ was pretty fucking beast (urgh, I wanted more matches against him to steal his tactics ), and I guess I am too biased against Sol, so I'll digress. I still think your exagertaing on his strengths, but that's my opinion. Izuna is a very solid master, and even if Sin can be punished on reaction of some of his attacks, a lot of his shit is RELATIVLY safe, and even AJ had trouble punishing his cheaper shit (side step, 6x, to infinity, Sin is next to impossible to hit. I did it to AJ just to steal his tactic to stop Sin, and he didn't really have one, the window of vulnerability is insanely small). the crap Aj does shouldn't be pinned on Sol too much, but rather the Player, as you've made that example with kimera and that sin vs paradigm thing. I told AJ that I've never seen a Sol as skilled as his when it came to master combat, so he was a rather unique case. urgh, I've really been craving masters only. I learned so much from AJ becaus of it. panda, invite AJ and antikrby back, they won't listen to me, cuz I'm just that guy who makes occasional weekend cameos. Aj said he'd only come back if Antikirby and you were involved. xSol badguy doesn't like master only... anyway, thanks for the advice on handling some of those troubling things. I will try to be a more intelligent, beastly, and agressive Sol. the whole "negative thinking" you mentioned is more then likely true in my case.
  9. the way you talk about sol is pretty laugh out loud. what makes him so good? when you mention that topic, your always very vague about it. I honestly don't think he's got it much better then the likes of Izuna, Sin, Ky, or Raven. all those characters have methods to deal with Sol master fighting abilities. Sol is strong with items to hunt down masters, but so is half the cast. Izuna is more then capable to hunt down masters non stop (especially with his minion), so is Raven, or Sin. Ky handles strangely, and his style doesn't really suit offensive play, so I don't think he's good for that kind of crap, but the others I mentioned sure as hell are. and besides, Sol can't really do much to paradigm once paradigm surround himself in units. dogs or frogs, with gate gunner or two, and Sol momentum in the fight falls to pieces. more so if paradigm is using a ghost to separate himself. Sol's not even especially good at preventing people from running, like raven and Ky are, though he's pretty good at running away himself. and if paradigm's getting hunted down, its not the end of the world for him, especially since rapid fire + complementing item makes him an actual threat, or baiting an approach so he and knock down Sol so he can get away and carry on with his business. if he gets an elite out, more power to him, but he really doesn't even need one to defend himself, the player just needs to play intelligently and he can avoid getting raped. the fact that Sol must be directly next to him to hurt him in most cases actually helps paradigm a lot, because it makes running away froim Sol all the more easier. and it sounds like you haven't fought a Ky and Sin player who makes range units. both those characters really don't even need to bring out qudra ballif or heaven's libra to cripple sol, they can just spam twin triggers, and Sol can't fight. SO many ways to Stop Sol. If your Valentine or Raven, make suport units, and Sol is pretty much dead if your there when he gets in that deathtrap ( 2 magic unit and 2 range with a master present, and he's gone). if you want to stop him with style, drop a banana. he doesn't really have an answer to that. also, stick near ghosts, they help. OR JUST GET GOOD AT FIGHTING SOL, PROBLEM SOLVED.
  10. yeah, I played some of the local 2 player mode with a friend not long ago. it was fun stuff. it was the jp version if your wondering. dunno. I'd like to know as well. sounds true enough.
  11. elaborate. give me an example. Edit: I need a larger variety of match ups in the GG2 video section. if anyone has suggestions, post them. I am getting tired of having almost nothing but kimera vs whoever for 1 vs 1. I want more Sin and Izuna videos. Videos of players being good and winning against other players who are good.
  12. yeah, I agree that team matches requires less skill then singles because your partner can make or break whether you do well. I actually win in team matches. and I don't even see a drop in quality with kimera's playstyle from his videos. I don't see why he would suddenly get worse. people don't get good at a game and then spontaneously start sucking at it. werewolf, the terms you see in the GG2 wiki exclusive to the game, just translate them directly. don't worry if it sound weird in English, through the nature of what is being said, I'm pretty sure I can deduce what they are referring to in most cases. and thanks for taking up this translation.
  13. yeah, I noticed that too. he's pretty good with valentine and Sol though. I think those are his primary characters. EDIT: well, he plays them in almost every match he uploads, so DERP!
  14. yes Sol.badguy. it is a funny sounding word. it is also a relatively flexible word. you know what's my favorite series a videos? the one where kimera beats on Guilty Soul. which one? any of them, with any character. its all good. I'd imagine you'd enjoy them too. the couple of Kimera and hn tappu 2 vs 2 videos are pretty good too. in one of them, HN tappu pulls off a very impressive escape from kimera (So) and his partner (Ky) on triora. it really something. too bad he got raped in that round in general regardless.
  15. yeah, I too thought HN tappu was number 1. who's number 1? and both those videos are on the GG2 video thread, so Yes, I have already seen them long ago. Edit: actually, the second video USED to be on the GG2 video thread before it got wiped, and I forgot to put it back up again. my bad. I'll put it back up. Edit(2): OK, its on the thread now. WEE! but yeah, my current opinion of paradigm is long after I have seen those videos. link to GG2 video thread: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7935
  16. xSol...I don't play Sin in 1 vs 1 you bastard! what you said earlier about getting blasted you of your VV by paradigm reminds me of 8 minutes into this match Kimera Cryin(So) Vs Guilty Blood(Dr) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1267955867 Holy Knights Fortress lol, kimera is psychic.
  17. just sell it when you don't need it. its cheap as hell anyway. that's what I started doing. I never thought of putting two land mines on top of each other. fuck quadro ballif and heaven's libra. FUCK THEM. I remember witnessing a match between Guilty Soul(Dr) and Kimera Cryin(Si) (I think it was kimera, but I'm not certain) on triora a couple months ago. Guilty Soul eventually took over the entire map, save the last two ghosts in front of Kimera's MG. Kimra had all his elites out, and had a sizable army. I wondered to myself what Guilty Soul could do in this moment, and apparently, Guilty Soul was wondering the same thing. every time he advanced, Kimera would find him in the fray, and kill him, thus his army was forced to retreat (and kimera's units had no trouble holding his forces back either, they were doing perfectly fine.). eventually this happened enough times for guilty Soul to lose. it was the weirdest shit, it was like victory was so close, yet impossible to obtain. Sin's servants are just too fucking strong (it gets to WTF proportions with convict hammer in there), they can strong arm the likes of paradigm's tribe, especially since paradigm lacks support units to even the odds (unlike raven and valentine). paradigm not being able to do anything to Sin in master fights doesn't help his case either.
  18. the last line made me chuckle. I admit that I give Sol a lot of flack on this thread, but since those vids of kimera spanking guilty soul's paradigm with Sol, my opinion of him has improved. I thought for the longest time that Sol never stood a chance against paradigm, but I see now that that belief was unfounded. especially since the last game I saw kimera played guilty soul before with the same characters, kimera got crushed as for me being too conservative...I don't know what to make of that. after playing a bunch of matches, I've learned that running in someones face nonstop and trying to eat them has bad results, and that Sol has limited options against characters that out zone him like no tomorrow (which is practically the entire cast, with the exception of what, paradigm?). when Sol is trying to get in, it's pretty easy to keep him out unless you give him your back. I look for example of the contrary but I haven't really found any. my own lack of skill accounts for me not being able to dominate with the character of coarse, but the things I see other players do reinforces what I say about Sol. killing units fast...meh. I play sin, smack the servants around a bit, then either beak driver or big beak driver them. same results as Sol, only he uses tension. this is especially the case with exciter. Izuna, (L) x, x, j, 8x. if your your in a rush, (L) x, x, 2x, 8y does the trick. then spam 2y when necessary. I don't see the speed difference when killing servants between the characters all that significant. but then again, I don't really see too many good Sol's online so what do I know? my opinion of the character remains for the most part, but I know I could be wrong about him.
  19. well, I suck at singles, therefore I cannot refute the claim that there isn't much master fighting in singles. you didn't say why you think paradigm is the strongest in singles though. paradigm is pathetically weak in comparison to other masters, so he isn't strong at all in fights (this is evident even with experienced players). once you have gotten used to the way players use paradigm, they are pretty easy to kill with any character. he's horrible at fighting thanks to his extremely limited tools in combat. as most of the time, they just spend their time running around and letting their servants cover for them, being sure to only engage the enemy master when their in the advantage. against characters with significant range (like raven), paradigm is joke, since many of his run away tactics just don't work. there is also the fact that paradigm's armor units are horrible units, and his low-level servants are not powerful (they are not weak, but they lose to the majority of their equivalent in other tribes.) he does have cheap units at his disposal however, and the bone bitter is extremely powerful. controlling ghosts is easier with him thanks to his gate gunner. I don't think paradigm is a bad character at all, but he certainly lacks the flexibility of the other characters to be considered the best. this is not only from what I have played (like I said, I suck at singles) but from what I have seen matches as well. as for Sol being able to kill masters and servants quick...I don't exactly agree that he kills them significantly faster then other characters (unless he applies dragon install). Sin can kill extremely fast using exciter, and without out it, he simply needs to use more tension than Sol would to get similar results.Sin can also kill any master in 2 combos, even Izuna can accomplish this. while Sol can preform damaging combos, he does not a plethora of 100% combos at his disposal. his more damaging combos require either a lot of tension, or a high execution and timing on the players part. coupled with the fact that Sol has among the worse range for masters and master can just cyclone blast him out of combos. his advantages in combat are not that great considering how easily out-zoned he is. the example you used for kappa is exclusive for kappa units. if servants stood still when Sol hits them with smash attacks (is that what the jp call them?) then yes, he would be insanely fast at killing units, but that isn't the case. but hey, this is just my opinion. I'm just thrilled to finally have some serious discussion regarding character strength and crap, since I talk about it with no one other then Sol.badguy.
  20. :8/: you did not. I discovered this through the GG2 wiki. I mentioned this earlier, and decided to post it again. below is the post where I originally mentioned it, all the way back at page 142. so yeah, you didn't tell me squat. I'm not really the forgetful type. and I managed to get CPU Valentine with he gigant lazer not too long ago. it was funny. I tested out the armor upgrade in a cpu points match, and I was disappointed. it only does big damage with a direct hit (so its hard for Gigant to hit small, agile enemies. still recommended on big targets like the bone biter. results may vary depending on the situation). the melee seems to be a relatively solid upgrade, I think anyway. perfect against many melee units who walk up to the gigant. great crowd control there. and like I said before, read up what servants do in the "Rules" section in the pause menu (but not in training mode, you can't access it there)
  21. I'm saying the way the developers designed the skill is rather strange, and the fact that it powers up that monstrosity of a unit called "quardra balliff" is insanely effective. I didn't say that the skill was not useful, just that it behaves strangely. did you know that range units do 200% damage to masters? no wonder monster horseman rapes hardcore. paradigm is fun to play. I have no hate on him because a well played match can shut his ass down like it's no one's business. besides, his match-up with Sin is so bad it's not even funny. there's like...NOTHING paradigm can do in a fight against Sin. just jump, drop an apple in air, and wait for Sin to beak driver his ass when he lands. at least Sol has to chase paradigm around. when you play paradigm, you notice that he does not have much range on his practical attacks, and his assistant bonnie is not reliable when facing masters (but it can be pulled off if the opponent is careless, and the player is decent with setting them up. even then, smart opponents know how to not be stupid and walk into them) Paradigm is like Sol, super unbalanced in his strengths, and has no hope of being on upper tier. I'd put both him and Sol squarely on the bottom. the game is relatively balanced, so you an still win with them obviously, in fact you can destroy people with them. Its just that they just aren't the most powerful of the characters. Edit: I think Sol has it the worst when facing against Ky and Sin too. they are both strong masters (especially sin, ridiculously so. ) and they got the best units in the game hands down (except for wise men, but who cares, they are obsolete with mobiles that good anyway.) Sol lacks tools, he isn't well rounded enough, and his strengths aren't enough to justify him having horrible units (especially since Sin is so fucking strong and his units are amazing) did I ever mention that I wish blockhead was worth summoning? I wish the blockhead was worth summoning. did I ever mention that I wish Gigant wasn't such a retarded unit? or how I wish that spending those upgrades on him would improve his performance in a way where you know it makes a difference in most cases. or how I wish he wouldn't be such a giant mass of disappointment. that it actually has a use makes the fact that the unit sucks is all the more vexing; because it could have been so much more then what it is now. the way the game describes the unit in the rules section makes it seems like he's the unit to end all units, but all he really does is end your high expectations for Sol's elites. Edit (2): this is a little random, but it's bugging me. there's a song on the soundtrack called "disadvantage" (vol 1, disk 2, song #25). I used to think it was a song used in multi-player matches, but I was completely wrong. does anyone know where that song is used in the game, if at all?
  22. Hi kou2007. I'm the guy who plays on lo boundary ol account. yeah I found out about Ky's divine gaze when Sol.badguy told me. I think it's a rather strange way to handle the skill, but the boost that the single unit receives is insane. Sol.badguy mentioned that you think Ky and Sol are the best 1 vs 1's characters in the game. is this really your opinion? and if you do, why do you think so? while I agree with Ky, I wouldn't put Sol up that high. Ky has extremely powerful units, and is a strong master when played correctly. my opinion is that Ky and Sin are the strongest characters in the game. though I'm not very good at 1 vs 1, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
  23. I think its a combination of factors. not only that its though (because it is) but the lack of U.S. community doesn't help either.
  24. have you read my FAQ? here's a link: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/game/942201.html lots of practice is required, but it stops being so hard when you get the hang of it. also drop the the GG2 video section for examples on how to play. there's youtube vids and nicovideo vids over there. link to GG2 Video thread: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7935 the nico video redirector doesn't seem to be working lately. very annoying.
  25. Hey Sol.badguy, you play GG2 during the week days right? around what time do you find matches?
