crocop, chuck lidell (sp?), and eric lindros all have one thing in common: repeated concussions. MMA guys often fight more than once a year, but we've seen that some hockey players can get taken out for months as a result of post-concussion syndrome. I have to wonder if the one-on-one nature of combat sports, the need to stay relevant and in contention and all that makes people go back to training and fighting before they've actually fully recovered from being concussed.

Eurogamer: Some fighting game fans consider Guilty Gear to be the greatest fighting game ever made. But which one do you consider to be the greatest? Daisuke Ishiwatari: Street Fighter III: Third Strike. It's the nervousness between you and your opponent that gives me joy. You have to guess what the next move is by your opponent. That was the most fun thing about the game. It was so enjoyable. guessing games all day son

Charlie Sheen's quip about "I'm on a drug and it's called Charlie Sheen" was absolutely brilliant. I don't think I've heard many lines that good in awhile. Sure the rest of it was crazy talk (that was terribly entertaining when on paper, rather than being "oh man what's that guy on" when delivered in person), but that one line is so awesome.

Irem cancels Disaster Report 4. You may have heard of the previous entries (with the awesome localized name RAW DANGER), but the motivating disaster of DR4 is a big earthquake, which is way too close to home right now. Releasing such a thing would've been a PR nightmare, and it was slated to be released this year! Hopefully this cancellation doesn't sink Irem.

A scrawny kid trying to get back at a bully wouldn't make such a weak effort of it. Look at the way he threw those punches; they were practically taunts. When seriously angry kids decide to fight bullies, they are way less cocksure about it and way more desperate (nevermind whether or not the hits actually hurt the other guy). It's not usually the case that a bullied kid swaggers in on a bully.

Rogues also often like to do butterfly kicks to when hitting an enemy that is not so far that they'd do a leaping stab, but not so close that they'd just hack away. As a result, one enemy that was running away from the rogues towards another party member was getting chased by two rogues in my party, who were doing synchronised butterfly kicks on him all the way down the length of a hallway.

From time to time characters get visual updates, but generally speaking equipping stuff on your teammates has no effect on their appearance. Ironically, you can equip them with accessories (amulet, belt, rings), but doing this results in no cosmetic change. ---------------------- Random thoughts on DA2: - The way enemies explode all the time when dying to things ranging from certain spells to critical hits is far more entertaining than I expected. There's nothing quite like seeing a character stand there and kick some mook and then seeing the mook blow up. You can pretend that it's Fist of the North Star, especially considering how darned many bandits there are. Too bad I have yet to see anybody lick a knife. If you get a piece of gear that has the "Messy Kills" trait, it means that pretty much everything you kill with that will blow up, no matter what the killing blow was... and thankfully, it doesn't cause you to sift through every dropped item like Bloody Mess did in the old Fallout games. - The party banter is really good, and it is probably the biggest thing I think about when deciding who to put in my party. Being able to call on party members during conversations (e.g. Varric can BS your way out of all kinds of situations, Aveline will just strongarm people into seeing things your way) is nice. - I don't remember if this was such a problem in DA:O, but it does seem like from time to time I will click on a dude and... my character doesn't attack. There's no visible "attack" icon issued, so I have to pause the game and do it again. Hmm. - Female Hawk having wispy hair is kind of funny... literally nobody else in the game seems to have it, and how on earth you maintain anime-pretty wispy hair in GRIMDARK BLOODSOAKED FANTASY WORLD EVERYBODY IS COVERED IN BLOOD OMG BLOOD EVERYWHERE probably requires more suspension of disbelief than anything else in the game. - In spite of the smaller scope of the game, I find myself enjoying it more than DA:O. After a few hours of DA:O, I didn't feel terribly compelled to continue. DA2 I'm sure I will finish, which is something I can't say for many RPGs.

I remember last time I experienced a quake in Van. It's quite an amazing feeling to have the ground under your feet shake, but thankfully the quake we felt then was tiny. Wow, what's amazing about that explosion picture is just a few minutes ago I was looking at CNN pictures that seemed to show that area on fire, but not yet going ASPLOSION. On a lighter note: Is JSDF mobilizing to stop underwater monsters from destroying Japan?

Yeah, when there are nonstop quakes it's kinda hard to keep calm and carry on. Glad to hear that you and your wife are safe! Has the area around you live/study stayed mostly intact? http://i.imgur.com/wrCkv.png Hideo probably made a more sympathetic tweet that this doesn't show, but it still looks hilarious.
