Arm wrestling in Witcher 2 is awesome for a totally buggy reason in the game's second chapter. Everybody you need to arm wrestle during the day sits in front of a campfire. When you go into conversation with them, you get teleported in front of them, which means you get teleported on top of the campfire. This sets you on fire, which may not be apparent during your initial conversation with them, but is evident the moment you start arm wrestling because you are ON FIRE. Even better, you get set back on fire during the after-wrestle conversation, and talking as the victor while in blazes is awesome. <insert Initial D/HnK/Ippo/The Last Dragon/whatever you want thing about the aura> Of course, you do get to watch your health drop a bit afterwards because you've been set on fire, but who cares it's awesome.

greatness of bear traps knows no limits So there's a part where you and a buddy have to fight another crustacean monster. Your buddy tanks some hits while you plant bear traps Eventually crustacean switches aggro to you Crustacean walks onto stacked bear traps and loses half its life Do it again and crustacean dies Later you fight a big evil villain dude who has powers comparable to yours I try hacking away at him, but it's really ineffective because he can invoke the same shield spell you can, he can block hits, and he has assloads of HP I throw bombs at him but they don't do enough dmg and I don't have enough bombs to kill him So instead, while he's casting spells or doing big attack animations I've avoided, I plant bear traps Damage of my sword: like 15-21, good chance of causing a damage over time effect. But damage is 100% blocked by shield, blockable by plain blocking, and combo breaker blocking means you usually can't get more than a few hits in. Damage of a bear trap: like 40-60, unblockable, goes through the shield. That's right, bear traps are no less than 3x as effective as your sword, probably more when taking into account how much easier it is to deal that damage. goddamn bear traps

Why is there so little posting here wtf In Witcher 2, the most powerful weapon in the game is the bear trap. They work on things you wouldn't even expect them to work on, like floating Wraiths. You stick like a dozen or more on one spot, and whatever big enemy steps on it falls over dead. Reminds me of Jedi Knight 1 where you could plant your entire inventory of mines on one spot while the final boss is regen'ing, then lure him on it and he goes FLY AWAY... except that the bear traps in Witcher 2 are also reusable

I take it back, it's being directed by Takashi Miike, who pumps out more movies per year than almost any other director, and is famous for hypergory flicks like Ichi the Killer. The only way it could be better is if they got the director of Hobo With A Shotgun to direct it, and cast Rutger Hauer as.... Godot, I guess.

Also, best part of Crysis 2: When you activate a mode, just like in Crysis 1 it says "MAXIMUM <thing>" in its deep macho computer voice When you step into an environmental hazard, it says, "DANGER" in its deep macho computer voice If you time it just right, you can make the suit say, "MAXIMUM DANGER" in its deep macho computer voice And then you feel more macho than ever

http://www.treehugger.com/files/2011/05/exploding-watermelons-jiangsu-province-china-food-safety.php Don't know how true this is, but it is hilarious/tragic. The quoted line about farmers growing their own food crops separate from the ones they slather with chemicals for market is especially comitragic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ddiKjC_4BOo Tintin 3D movie directed by Spielberg. Random observations: - the opening credit text which is allcaps bold yellow looks superficially like the font used for Watchmen - Tintin has an English accent. It's never mentioned in the comics what kind of accent he has, though he is from Belgium (where English is not one of the main languages). - the sets are quite realistic, though the characters are quite stylized. This seems especially at odds with how the comics looked, with their uniform lines, clean flat colors, minimal (was there even any?) use of hatching etc. on both the characters and the backgrounds - Tintin looks weird as hell in this 3D depiction. He never had a terribly detailed face, and didn't have the wrinkles/beards of a bunch of the other recurring characters (Calculus, Haddock, Thompson and Thompson...), so when they translated that featurelessness to 3D, it looks bizarre. - the comics were full of ridiculous cultural stereotypes, not the least of which was the American villain who was a greedy Jewish guy. The movie is being directed by Spielberg. Go figure.

Capcom Unity official post about AE DLC has the most amazing quote I've ever seen from a Capcom person: "The second is that you can spectate matches that include the four new characters. But you can neither play as or against these characters. They will essentially be the shadows on the wall of Plato's Cave (Plato is a Grand Master Hakan player)."
