  1. In West Philadelphia born and raised... well, UPenn actually IS in West Philadelphia. And there is a playground there that has this awesome see-saw: instead of being a plank on a fulcrum, there is an arch, with a tube coating the arch that can slide along the path of the arch. So instead of sitting and bouncing up and down, you hug the tube and it slides up and down. It looks like something from spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace. That said, it is currently not the playground where I am spending most of my days, though it could well be. There is a Chinese restaurant near where I am residing. They greet everybody in English, whether or not you look Asian. They are one of the only Cantonese speaking groups of people I have met so far. Their menu contains no Chinese writing except for their restaurant's name. The Wharton school of business is one of the leading business schools in the entire US, and therefore the world. Its newer building, Huntsman Hall, looks very wealthy and comes complete with an upper floor patio area that has trees and grass. I need to make sure I get in with the money before I finish here. ------------------- Pet Shop was stupid in a variety of ways, what with gigantic meterless combo damage, strong pressure, the ability to screw up a character or two by virtue of hovering all the time (see: Devo). Anyway, a thing to notice is that what Alessy did in that match to get Pet Shop off his was pushblock and roll, so in short nothing that isn't obvious or isn't universal. Alessy did press C from time to time to try to stop Pet Shop from just waltzing in (double palm it, like 3S Chun lol), but I somewhat doubt that that move is the dealbreaker. What should also be noticed is that Alessy never got punished for rolling until literally the very end of the match, where Pet Shop finally did a throw on his roll. So really, it falls on the Pet Shop player not keeping the Alessy down.
  2. Alberta used to have its own thread, but I guess it's been deserted. Still, Canadian content is always welcome here! After all, a few of us aren't anywhere near Vancouver right now! Philadelphia
  3. So here in the US, there is a line of Asian supermarkets kind of like T&T, except with a pronounced Korean slant. The name of the chain? H-Mart. Dunno if it sells porn.
  4. Considering how chilly the reception for Bionic Commando not-ReArmed was, I'm quite surprised that they decided to go with that look. But then again, the great big bionic arm as opposed to the great big tube-shaped gun makes for a character that they can more easily put the emphasis on punching/meleeing with, rather than VIPER BEAMMMMMing with. Really, I was hoping that they would go with classic look just so that they could have a character who has no jump animation, and jumping instead spawns one of the spring blocks beneath his feet and sees him bounce in the appropriate direction. Rad/Ammy/Spider-Man for team grappler... and we don't mean throws.
  5. Redline looks stupidly awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9jWrj0ihHw <caption goes here> Anyway, it's showing in some places in California now, which means that we'll be able to snag it over the internet in no time!
  6. Seeing as how you've got a Saturn setup, you should get a hold of Fuun Saiki (I think it was called Dark Legend or something for its release outside of Asia?): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URzSEYTg1bQ I know I showed this video before and Long said that it looked like God Hand + HnK because of energy baseball bat + stupid wallslam combos. Also, I want to play games with Long!... .... ....... ......... ............ ...................T_T
  7. Diatoms are stupidly hard to guard crush and make the game dumb
  8. http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/mobile/game/details.php?id=110 There are three screenshots, with the one on the right featuring Yamazaki being the best possible response to the picture in the middle.
  9. Man X-Japan concert in Vancouver even without Hide, FOREVER LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE
  10. ME2 could've been a lot bigger! A bunch of compression had to be done for the sake of the X360 and other fiddling had to be done to keep the game on two discs. In particular, some wrangling had to be done to decide what the best way to organize the game content is in order to minimize disc swapping (which ended up being early game and end game on disc 1, the rest on disc 2).
  11. Seeing as how I knew all about it, it's hard for me to get excited But haven't you got a PC? You could've just played ME1 and ME2 on it... How does that work in Japan? I hear that all you really need to get married is to fill out the register, get it notarized, and mail it in; you don't need a pastor or any religious person to witness it.
  12. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-29-capcom-talks-street-fighter-x-tekken-interview?page=2 Ono says that 1 million signatures will convince INAFKIN to let him go ahead with a Darkstalkers project. Real talk or just trolling?
  13. I actually don't know how you're supposed to properly defend yourself from sasquatch high low hopdown aside from miraculously blocking right and doing a guard cancel.
  14. VS: where dash forward overhead normals manage to somehow be balanced, and not in the "everybody now has an infinite combo" way of KOF98.
  15. What does "sister-in-school" mean, or does it just mean your sister who is currently in school? She looks nothing like Ray, so that means <insert generic anime plotline>.
  16. Now that Megaman Legends 3 has been confirmed for 3DS, the only question remaining is which western dev they will outsource it to and how bad the Grimdark Adventures of Tron Bonne will be.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHm_x9mKGLU just watch the last minute of this for a hilarious finish
  18. Speaking of portable games that can waste all your time, i hear that Ys 7 on PSP is not bad at all. And since you can actually fight alongside Dogi (it only took 15 some odd years!), I wonder if his fighting style is called "Dogi style". Sometimes I wonder if anybody is so oblivious or so undesiring of spending time with women whose hearts have so obviously been captured as Adol. Maybe his insatiable wanderlust is just the byproduct of constantly running from women seeking paternity payments.
  19. I've never beaten an EO game, in spite of enjoying the bulk of my time with it. The new skills and whatnot in EO3 sound like a lot of fun, though GRINDDDDDD is still an issue. Plus I'm worried that having a game I want to play that's portable means that I won't be able to get away from games I want to play!
  20. Man, writing prose sentences without periods is liberating It's unclear whether you have a completed thought there in the sentence or are deliberately leading the reader on Usually I just do it when I'm trying to stack on some sarcastic commentary But the effortless irony afforded by leaving out the period is infectious and alluring
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fItlmVi7W Company-designed girl bands churned out by a factory are elegantly conveyed by cloned sprites But really I'm just posting it because I recall Peter mentioning how Mike hates SNSD
  22. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/extreme-fear/201009/the-sad-science-hipsterism No matter how many levels of irony you stack, they are all ultimately shields for your Freudian identity crisis
