  1. Dunno what the story is with geogaddi Mike wanting to sell his console and whatnot. If you don't feel like playing some SF then just take a break! At some point you might want to play and find that you don't have the gear and are SOL. If you are in need of new fun things to do then you need look no further than Alexey or UBC: learn some TKD and go to tournaments and get hype. BC is home to an asston of levels for climbing, which is one of the best platforming games that exists, if you want to look at it that way. If you need to flip a car go join the autox club at UBC. If you want to shoot some guns ask Mike about how to get licensed. You can also have fun by discovering how to circumvent the security at various buildings at UBC. Try planting smiley face banners on the rooftops of enough buildings on campus to create a smiley face pattern on the map. Unfortunately, google maps satellite view updates are erratic and usually quite slow. Actually, forget I said those last few sentences. If you are simply in desperate need of a some $$$, then that's a different story. If the reason for being in desperate need of $$$ can be summarized thusly, then you've got other problems.
  2. The new legend of Tokido pose (some of you may remember from some EVO in the past where upon winning he did a glorious MK-style fist raised pose, and in an interview for a later EVO, he said, "I want to win so that I can do Tokido pose")
  3. Tatusnoko vs Capcom 1st - GCYoshi13 (PTX-40a) [Out of losers] yessssssss
  4. Ray becoming a PRO GAMER?!?!?!?! Mike, you should totally get your company in on this. The amounts needed for sponsorship are peanuts compared to real ventures, and you can say that you'll place your company as a leader in the emerging western North American pro-gaming scene. Cite the burgeoning Korean population in Vancouver as well as the rise of SSF4! You can do it!
  5. What is the first English word that comes to mind when gamerbee discusses what he's learned since visiting the US? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--CQoNiSfwk&t=1m13s COCKBLOCK
  6. So some of you might remember the PSP rpg Cladun (which Yuan or somebody else linked here before). The 8-bit style sprites are charming, but some of the weapon sprites seem to have been made at an odd resolution which makes them clash with the look of the rest of the game. The game is ok, but the music is a real standout. ZHP by NIS is probably the first NIS game that I actually enjoy playing. It's very roguelike, but much less brutal than Shiren on the DS. Unlike most other roguelikes, it actually tries to have a (silly) story, which interjects almost too often. You also have persistent stat gains (in spite of starting at level 1 all the time), and your inventory doesn't get blown away every time you die. There are many more game mechanics in ZHP than in Cladun, so ZHP is on the whole more interesting to play. However, Cladun's real time action and unique charm are compelling, in spite of it being pretty simple. ZHP's music is also not bad at all, but Cladun has this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MUwvpwa6G0&p=5394530EF5C7E326
  7. Too bad it's so far removed from Halloween... they could've gotten the guys mixing drinks to dress up like the Alchemist from dota.
  8. BASSHUNTER is going to be playing on Nov.23 here in Philly. On one hand, I'm not much for the rave/clubbing scene. On the other hand... what if he puts on dota?
  9. http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/careers/posting.html?id=10000AX Intern - Data Analyst Requirements: - A current PhD candidate in computer science, statistics, or a related discipline I have no idea what the competition for this would be like or how the selection process would go. Maybe they will have them fight in a pit for it.
  10. random note i am too lazy to properly punctuate there's a guy in my class from beijing he goes by the english name dio he's really good at 3d modelling i asked him today about his name, because it's not a phonetic match to his chinese name, and if he picked it himself he said, "i really like this japanese comic..." and i was like "omfg jojo's bizarre adventure" and he said "yes!" he gets great life decision + 1
  11. Way of the Samurai 4 involves going about in ways that are KAKKOIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/23516/way-of-the-samurai-4/images/way-of-the-samurai-4-20101101013410711.html
  12. It will be IN AMERICA. The recruiter said that there are openings all around the US (so not just Tiburon i.e. Maddenland). It's only going to be internship work, but it's going to be my third tour of duty with EA. I just don't know. LucasArts won't even be looking at applications till Feb. of next year, which puts me in the "one in hand vs. two in the bush" situation (not that I expect to land the EA one for free).
  13. Considering that the orders for dota 2's gameplay have been, "copy dota", it can only be so bad. Like with HoN, just fixing up all the matchmaking and networking issues that arise from being a wc3 custom map go a huge way towards making it better. I'm curious to see how they handle the meta aspects of it (coaching aside) compared to LoL. All that said, I think that HoN is going to be the one left in the dust here. Aesthetics aside (which I'm sure Valve will cover nicely), since it and dota 2 mimick dota so much, it's only going to be little little things that separate them. HoN will have a slightly different interface, a slightly different set of heroes... assuming dota 2 doesn't suffer from massive technical issues, there's little holding people to HoN. It's not like some MMORPG where changing games is like changing careers. The way LoL handles all the stuff around the game is clever and interesting, as much as I don't like playing LoL itself. Meanwhile, "I feel so conflicted", the sequel: "We are writing to inform you that you have been invited to interview for the following position: Position: SOFTWARE ENGINEER/GAME DEVELOPER Employer: Electronic Arts"
  14. As far as I can tell Call of Duty Black Ops has already got MW2 beat. http://kotaku.com/5677841/you-wont-believe-who-is-killing-zombies-in-call-of-duty-black-ops?skyline=true&s=i
  15. So who's going to be the leader of the MML3 project now that INAFKING is gone? For that matter, wtf is he going to be doing? Mid-life crisis stuff?
  16. Neptunia is that game about mech-girls that are effigies of various consoles. This, however, is pretty much the single best statement of the game's quality ever written: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24092781&postcount=27
  17. One super exciting thing is that Masafumi Takada is with Tango. Every game he's been involved with has had absolutely arresting audio work, and while it's sad to see that the dynamic duo behind Grasshopper Production's audio is no more, it should mean that whatever Tango comes up should at least be worth listening to... which is more than can be said for 90% of other games. I can only hope that the projects they get themselves into allow him to make the crazy stuff that he can.
  18. Inverse Kinematics is about pro-wrestling. After all, where else do you find the relationship J=BL Alternatively, inverse kinematics is a yaoi fest, because you have to deal with matrices of BL.
  19. So I just beat Ys 7 on the psp and realized that I never once in the game outside of the tutorial used the blocking technique in the game. For a game where you press x x x and y y y and x x x again, it was surprisingly good. Then again, since it's an Ys game maybe that shouldn't be SO surprising.
  20. this tells me that it is porn where the people involved will cry at some point but the emotional and life fulfilment of becoming physically connected will change their view of the world for the better and enable them to live press forward into happier lives together in spite of the uncertainty of the future (which may or may not include the illicit nature of their relationship) and the pains of the past that or they will be able to die with dignity
  21. http://planetredwood.webs.com/soundtrack.htm OST of the year now available in lossless format
