  1. It depends on the level of player. Good players respect your options, bad players don't know what those options are, so they hit buttons. The sad thing is, mashing jab isn't that good in the game compared to others.
  2. Also, if you gattling out of 5/2A you can be mashed out of your overhead pretty easily. Still good to remember, as most ragna players forget you can 6B after those moves.
  3. I was about to say you can use throws too, but throws in BB are LOL worthy. I think it will make ragna more reliant on punishes. The length and speed of his normals make him a great punish character anyways. Problem is, that relies on the opponent messing up, which isn't something you can count on against good opponents; at least not often enough to win you the match. Still, I'd hold doom saying until at least after the second Loketest. Right now it's looking like Ragna is over-nerfed, but that's what everyone thought after the first BBCS1 loketest too.
  4. Yeah, but 6C is so... well, slow. Besides I know my range on Tager. Between 5C and 2C it can be pretty hard for Tager to get in on Tager. But yeah the fact that 5C OTG's tager is pretty fun.

  5. Pretty much. I just poke away with 5C, Tager can't do much except his own 5C. I really prefer to be the aggressor in all my matches.

  6. Tager mirrors are only fun if you've played the opponent alot. Most people don't take notes while they play, I do. After a few matches I can tell when they want to jump, grab, or whatever. But I here what you're saying, alot of guesswork in grappler mirrors.

  7. Wait, you can block 6B? Judging from the internet I'd think that was unblockable. I really abuse her 2B most times, though against Tager, it's usually better just to run. What's he gonna do, run after me? I dunno though, in an actually tournament I'd be tempted to use my old standby's Ragna and Tager. But if it was on a stream I'd put on a show with Mu.

  8. Also, Halo: Reach is here. If you want to see me suck at a game, this is a great opportunity.

  9. Well, SF characters are really simple, and alot of them are so similar they are interchangeable. But in SF2 I played Guile, in SF3 I played Hugo and Dudley, and SSf4 I play mostly Juri and Dudley, with a bi of Cody and Abel thrown in. I can also play the shoto's, but really, who can't? I'm not great at SF mind you. I haven't taken time to learn all the ridiculous techniques to reduce said guesswork. My best games are BB and SSBM, but I'm also decent in VF5, SSBB, and SSF4.

  10. Yeah that's pretty much meta-game. It isn't as prevalent in BB because more things are reactable, while in SF most things cannot be reacted to so different playstyles and meta-games are more viable. BB is more about reactions and SF is more about mindgames. (they say mental chess, I say guesswork). It's also because SF is a much older and more played game. People simply know more about SF theory. Yomi means, to read the mind of an opponent. It's basically and educated guess based on conditioning and habits. I say have meter, because, if you guess wrong, a RC can often save you from punishment. This is especially true of ID. a guess is just a guess, play smart and you will eliminate as much luck as possible from the match. Remember, it's only a good guess when it works...

  11. I will watch at the very least. If I show up it would be fun to watch me. I play Mu alot now, and nobody knows that matchup. It's hilarious.

  12. Here are a few setups I've been having success with as of late. Feel free to tell me when I could be doing something better: 5D>2D>jD>j4D - This is amazing for zoning, it seems to be really hard for most characters to get around this set-up provided you get a window to complete it. You can also mix in [D] for Guard Crush, best with j4[D]. Problem is it doesn't set you up for advancing or explosions. Strictly keep away and reducing GP for a SoD. j2C>4[D]>j44>j236A - Corner oki, seems pretty good at forcing people to stay in the corner and block. There are other corner setups, but this is another one. 5D>2D>(JC)>(Delay)>jD - if you airdash in after the jD you will get to the opponent right as the laser would hit them making for a safe-ish approach, and if they start jumping around you can just go back into the stien show fairly safe, or airdash back. You can mix in 2[D] instead of 2D. Also, as a note to newer Mu players, the cross-under is good an all, but if you always do it, it isn't tricky anymore. It's just as important to learn how not to cross-under as it is to cross-under.
  13. Damn... I will have to work harder to get up there this weekend then. I want to be on a stream. I'll be famous. :)

  14. Yeah that's pretty much it. Hotel was manageable with three people, and gas sucks. Still, I will try. Wisconson is a bit much for me though. Also, I figure to get good BB competition you'd need to go to NY at the closest.

  15. Actually, I'm having a little trouble down here at the moment. I'm doing everything I can, but, the people that were coming with me bailed, so now the price of the trip has tripled... still trying to convince them otherwise.

  16. Meta-game is actually a pretty tricky word to define. You know how strategy in various fighting games develops over time (you can see this reflected in ever changing tier lists). A meta-game is the same thing, but more localized. Street Fighter is a very yomi and guess heavy game, so the fact that people play differently in different areas can have a big impact on the game. The separate areas evolve meta-games different from one and other.

  17. I dunno really. I would say that if you focus, you can get tournament ready with most games in about 6 months (tops). Certain games have really high execution or overly developed meta-games such as street fighter.

  18. Well, I know in most games stun and Guard breaks are separate, but I do not know how it worked in GG. GG had Roman cancels, which are exactly like Rapid Cancels in BB, 50 heat to cancel an attack. A FRC or Forced Roman Cancel can only be done during a specific point during specific moves, but it only costs 25 heat. I don't know enough about GG to really explain how this affects the game, but I know it let Potemkin and Sol do some really crazy combos.

  19. Nice, does it work on everybody? or does it crap out on some characters (like alot of Mu's stuff)? Also, I hadn't thought of 2B>6A>6C before (derp), I'm gonna have to do some playing with that.
  20. You can DC the first hit of 5D. It's hard but doable. You can only JC the second hit of 6C which is what's causing your problem. Also, why on earth are you throwing out 6C against a blocking opponent?
  21. I'm not sure he's really gonna be rush down. I know I'm eating my words when I say this but... he looks alot like slayer... http://shoryuken.com/content/cam-video-blazblue-continuum-shift-s-valkenhayn-1754/

  22. Sweet, I'll grab my copy at midnight too then (though I am central time). Where I live there isn't much competition so... the line will be like, 6 people.

  23. Well even if I pick it up tonight, I'm not sure I'd stay up till four. Usually I beat the campaign before I jump online, but if cool people were on (you're close enough) then it would be worth playing launch night. Beside, I haven't played a shooter in a long time and Reach will be a nice distraction from CS netcode.

  24. Hey, are you actually gonna be on Reach Launch night? I'm asking because I'm debating wether to get it at midnight or just wait until the next day. Also, hold off the Valk fanwagon until you play him yourself. You don't want to be disappointed.
