Good read as always, Mike. If there's GG at SBO next year, I'd love to see an Elvenshadow/Stunedge teamup. Also, just great job this season in general. As you said, you've accomplished a lot this year and have earned a lot of respect in the Japanese community. Getting to see you play in some of the qualifier videos is pretty cool. NOW GET THAT LAST CHANCE SPOT!!!

Singles is probably safer to run. Especially if we're trying to get our numbers back up. I'd love to have a solid team tourney one day, but just never seems to happen. Senkei, never underestimate Ohio weather. Just because it happens to be in October, don't think we can't get it down to -10. Even if the day before it is 72 or something.

Mac, what's up with your phone? I called it once, and your sister's answering machine was still on there. Is it ok to go ahead and leave a message? I also sent a text today. Do you got texting?

That's actually a little different, since Kaqn decided himself that that's how he wanted to spell it. Or at least that's the way I understood it, though at this point I can't remember what it was that lead me to that conclusion.

I'm disappointed in this thread. Nobody has posted the David Sirlin "yomi" video yet. ashibarai = sweep (right?) mekuri = crossup bippaa = BBU (maybe it's not worth it to go into what they call all the special moves in JPneze) buppa (the term, not the player. well, maybe the player too, but I am defining the term here) = kind of like throwing out a move randomly/spamming. i.e. random super or shoryu or what have you (i think this is pretty close to its meaning, correct if wrong)

HS beast has MAD plus frames. If you have them cornered, you pretty much want to do HS beast. Keep in mind that if it's mid screen, the HS beast will push them back, so while you have plus frames, if you take too long running in before initiating another attack, you could eat a counter hit. Luckily Testament has some pretty decent ranged normals, so you don't always have to run in. If you are getting pushed out of range though, I highly recommend the frc to close in again. Also, when pressuring with 6k, HS exe in the corner, don't forget to mix up the timing on your special cancel. There's actually a pretty good amount of leeway between 6k's hit and the latest special cancel point, so you can catch your opponent off guard with this a lot. Also, mix in HS exe, HS exe if they're trying to IB the beast and counter poke your 6k. Also look for opportunities to plant trees/nets, which will make it even harder for them to get out of there if they somehow manage to gain a little space. S beast you should pretty much be sure to FRC it, unless they are close enough to you that the beast will hit them late. For instance, a meaty S exe for okizeme is great, safe okizeme for opponents with reversals, as it is okizeme you can do outside of (i.e.) VV range. If you timed this right, so that they're standing up into it on its later frames, you will be left with frame advantage without having to frc. Usually if you block string into S exe when they're close enough to you that not frcing would still leave you with frame advantage, that probably also means that they're far enough away from the beast that they can jump out before it would hit them, but this can work anyway sometimes, as they may not realize which exe you did quickly enough to react to it. Also, if you frc anyway in this situation, and they do attempt to jump out, you may be able to tag their jump with a 6k if they didn't FD (or even if they did, still keeps the pressure on). To summarize, there are a lot of times you can throw out HS beast without frc, but with S beast, frc is always the wisest choice, except as okizeme. Did that help?

It's like almost in the same place. It's the same exit off 275, just a little closer to 275 this time.

I WASN'T ASKING YOU!!!! No, but srsly, I think they open officially in July sometime, but Jesse's starting the Thursday night thing next week. I don't think it will be open in any capacity besides that for about a month, but I'm not sure.

Mac Holland. I can't wait for you to get a phone again. Let me know if you're going to be at the new AL next week.

Man, shooting me down. What about an evil clown then like "It?"

When I read this and thought Capcom, Rose immediately came to mind. If they changed her around to fit the Vampire systsem, she could work as a crossover character. I dunno, maybe it would be cool. I also liked how "bee" is included under monsters. Kinda made me chuckle. They should include someone based on the Ghost Busters. They could maybe add an angel character or something. There are about a hundred million monsters/demons in the Shin Megami Tensei series that can give you an idea of all the myths and legends out there that have yet to be included.

Also, just an observation, but in the off chance that somebody sees a post from you, but doesn't check regional forums, and is from around Cleveland, don't you think you should change your location to "Cleveland?" -

A little bit. It's just less cluttered if we keep Ohio stuff in the Ohio thread. It's not that active these days, so it's not like your post will get pushed 3 pages back after a few days or anything. Anybody from Cleveland that visits here regularly will probably check the Ohio thread if they see new activity, so I just really don't feel it was necessary, so I don't know. -

How can you want players in Cleveland while at the same time NOT wanting players in Ohio? You'll have a hard time finding people that live in Cleveland, but not also in Ohio. Have you considered that maybe somebody outside of Cleveland might be interested in driving to you sometimes? We'll let this thread sit for a week and see if you still feel Cleveland deserves its own thread after that. -

Pretty sure Cleveland is in Ohio. Did you try asking around the Ohio thread? -
Please do. The more games you have that you can troll your brother in, the better. Too many/too hard characters to counter pick in that game effectively though, so just pick up Eddie, Slayer, or Testament if you want to be that way. Also, good seeing you and Patrick even though I didn't really get to play games with you. Glad the people I used to play all the time at WSU decided to start heading out to tournaments and stuff.

Oh yeah, I meant to make mention of this, but there were a few instances where you were standing right next to me and I didn't say much. Sorry for that. Just not the world's best conversationalist, and there were matches to watch and there was business to attend to, but it made me feel like I was ignoring you, which made me feel bad. Please don't take it as a "this guy must not like me" kind of thing. I'm always happy to get people excited about GG, and you're just a really cool guy, and you contribute where you can, and I dig that a lot. So glad you had a good time.

I thought you said their ride fell through last minute? If that's the case, you can't really blame them. How much effort did you and Circ put into this? Did you put in a pot bonus or go across town posting up fliers or anything? If your effort comes down to figuring out how to make the game work as well as possible, bringing setups, posting about it online, and running the tournament, I would dare say that is nowhere near the effort of 5-7 hours travel two ways. I mean, I'll be the first to admit that running GG didn't take very much effort on my part. Not that I didn't try, but all I had to do was invite people out, bring a set up, and run the brackets (which other people even helped me with). I know it sucks that they said they would be there and then they weren't, but there's no sense taking it out on them, it's their loss, right? It's a little hectic trying to run two tournaments at the same time with a lot of the same players, but it's really something that can't be avoided in a lot of cases. I realize the connection between BB and GG is obvious, but with all of the games we had going on, if most people play at least 2 different games, the situation is bound to come up fairly often. Even with HnK and MotW with only 4 and 5 participants, this situation came up. Also, GG and BB were both small tournaments and we got them both done in time, so it didn't end up mattering. Actually, if the tournaments were bigger, it would have been easy just to run another match if the people you were going to have play were on another game. That said, last I talked to Jesse about it, he was thinking about running ranbats all in the same day, which would present more such scenarios. I can't be at AL every Saturday in a given month, and GG is my priority, so what results is I miss out on a lot of games I want to play, and I don't get to see a lot of the people I like to see because they go on a different day to play a different game. So yeah, really looking forward. I know that for GG ranbats, I will be running pools with the top players advancing to brackets. If you adopt this for BB as well, we could get the players for the pools we need while avoiding players from the pool the other game is currently running, and hopefully avoid overlap that way. I also love this because if you have a 4-man pool even if you lose twice, you still get a third match instead of the traditional 2 and out, which I think can make weaker players feel a little more satisfied with their experience.
