  1. Ky had a mother at one point according to Xtra Manga (which may or may not be canon), but she was killed by Gears I guess. He met Tyr and then Kliff, Kliff tells him to survive for so many years, he does and THEN joins the Sacred Order for proper training under Kliff. Surviving isn't that hard, actually, just avoid the mobs. It's fighting that made him an even better survivor... as for the "being Gear from Birth theory" that's not true at all, given how weak he was over the years compared to Sol beating him every time (even when Sol stole the Fireseal). Ky was strong enough to fight Gears evenly, yes, but he wasn't strong enough to fight Sol on even terms. And he just barely managed to fight Justice. If Ky had to fight Justice again, or even the Valentines, I doubt he'd win (as a human at least).
  2. Not sure many people noticed but, a huge chunk of the English cast of BlazBlue and GGXrd do voice work for Dragon's Crown, so it's the same company I think.
  3. Well, I bought BBCPEX with Dragon's Crown while I was at it, so whatever... it was a good deal and worth reporting, lol And YES I did make this topic!
  4. RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!! Bumping this to report I got a reasonable deal on Dragon's Crown on Amazon. Feel free to post your hauls and deals here, as well as any older FGs you think would be cheap right about now.
  5. Seeing as Sammy vs Capcom was a total bust, I do not see them doing anything like that any time soon (to say nothing of all the unreasonable nagging they get to make a GGvsBB title). Also, regarding Sammy/Sega they were mostly involved in these games: GGX / GGXPlus / GGX1.5 (Atomiswave) / GGXAdvanceEdition GGXX GGXX#R (Red and Blue) GGIsuka (Atomiswave) GGXXSlash (Notable because "Sega" was listed as the publisher, and not Sammy, and to be honest the only 'meddling' they did was not release the game overseas and keep changes to a minimum as far as localization goes) Accent Core (GGXXACPlusR) and GG2Overture were published mostly by ARCSys with Aksys Games helping (Majesco Games helped release GGDS, GGJ, and GGRoA). Still if you're looking for games ARCSys made besides GG or BB, try Exector (PSone) Prismaticallization (Dreamcast title) or Hard Corps Uprising (PSN for PS3). Or heck, try Hokuto no Ken, Sengoku Basara X, or Battle Fantasia (PS2). I suggest moving your topic here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php/forum/262-misc-asw-games/
  6. One of these days we need to do an accurate Story Map (or script) of ACPlusR. And I should also mention that the script's translation by Aksys isn't 100% accurate, but decent enough. Well anyway, if you have plot questions you can always check out my blog in my Signature link.
  7. If you notice, he already has both endings for Ky unlocked, so he probably has access to both routes now. As for how he ended up not fighting Sol... it might be because he didn't do both of Sol's routes for some reason. (Like I said, I didn't even Clear Sol's path, I just cleared Johnny's Route 1). Main thing being: Ending 1 involves fighting Justice at some point, then later fighting Sol. Ending 2 might involve fighting Justice, but if you get the bad ending you won't fight Sol at all. Edit: Just checked... If you "Escape" when Faust says to, then ignore Jam, defeat Dizzy Normally (instead of IK'ing her) then choose to stay and Fight (when talking to Johnny) you fight Justice, you'll still get a Bad Ending.
  8. This argument is pretty much pointless because: 1. They're busy with not just Central Fiction and Revelator but probably a bunch of other games and VNs in development (not including doing Publishing Work for French Bread and other smaller developers). 2. Because they're busy, it's going to be a long time before they make something that isn't GG or BB, and the things they did make that weren't either of those were mostly for Mobile or iOS or Handheld games, so I wouldn't expect another fighter besides GG or BB any time soon, maybe a visual novel or RPG or something but I haven't seen ARCSys do RPGs very well just yet. 3. Why is this in Zepp Museum?
  9. Okay I just did a few things: and even on a naked run (fresh save) here's what I did to get Ky's Ending 1. ---Clear Johnny's Ending 1 as pre-requisite. ---Beat the snot out of Robo-Ky in the first fight, no low health situation... when Faust asks you to escape, take the route and fight Zappa. ---Fight Zappa up until you fight Jam, then take the second option. ---Fight Dizzy and IK her. ---You will fight Justice afterwards, then Sol, and then get the good ending.
  10. Well if none of that works, you might want to try doing Johnny's routes too just in case. Or heck, just do Zappa's routes and I-No's or anyone elses, lol
  11. I tried PM'ing him but his username doesn't seem to exist. I don't suppose you know his username on Dustloop?
  12. Okay I see what he did: ---He chooses to take Faust's Escape Route and face Zappa, then he chooses the top option when talking to Jam, which brings him back to the main route, but gets his 2nd Ending because he didn't take on most of his challenges directly. To get Ky's good ending you need to clear Sol's and Dizzy's routes and I think Testament's as well. And with every option you have to basically say "I'll stay and fight".
  13. Like I said, make sure you cleared all the other main routes beforehand (like both of Dizzy's routes), as some routes might be locking you out of these. I'll do some investigating of my own in the meantime. IK'ing the Gold Robo Ky or Defeating it Normally might produce different results too.
  14. There's 3 ways to get alternate routes: 1. Time Up 2. Instant Kill (or if you IK'd them already, defeating them normally, especially hard enemies) 3. Doing the above but making different choices. Instant Kills will typically "bait" extra Gold Character bosses, but keep in mind that unlocking other story routes is typically the pre-requirement (in other words, clear all the other character's main and secondary stories first). For example, if you fight as Axl against I-No and IK her, she gives you a different response than if you defeated her normally (this tends to happen a lot against harder-than-normal fights, as these kinds of battles ignore game difficulty for the most part and give certain enemies Gold-like properties (but not always as Gold characters). For Ky's case, you started off by fighting Faust, then making a choice and choosing to stay and fight Gold Robo-Ky. Depending on how well you did, or if you IK'd Robo-Ky will determine what boss you fight later. Another example is Sol's alternate route... if you unlocked it by playing other story routes, you can bait Slayer in to fighting you in his Gold form. Oh yeah taking extra routes nets you Classic GGXX stages I believe.
  15. So has there been any possibility of ripping the audio from GGXrd yet? I know there's a few quotes that get cut off and such and there are probably some that aren't used.
  16. So wait, this works on PS3 version or Steam Only? This is like an EX EX Mode or something...? For that matter, how does it impact EX Mode? Edit: I guess it's a "Crap Mode" lol I wonder how Gold characters are affected by these nerfs? Attempting to do Justice' N.B. from AC input (421+S/H) instead of (22+any) will crash the game.
  17. Who said anything about Justice being Kaijuu-sized??? lol Of course she'd be the same reasonable size as anyone else... I'm not expecting a special boss fight ala Chrono Phantasma's battle with Gigant Mikazuchi (though that's a possible idea for a separate mode). @Kaizen: Space Invaders Infinity Gene has black-hole bombs that suck in all enemy shots in to a single point.
  18. That doesn't exactly answer my question. I know a few of AC Pot's tricks to get a Buster but, not all. This being GGXrd, he has to use other tactics to get close enough to buster. I'd like some advice for that, if at all possible. @dot_Nova: I mean in terms like, for example, she runs forward to do a mixup or a roll forward mixup, she's basically getting in my face... so instead of sitting there and blocking everything (and eventually getting mixed up by a high-low or a low-overhead), I jump over her and buster her from landing behind when she tries to do rushdown. I know she could possibly anti-air me from behind if she was fast, but so far it sorta works against aggressive rushdown.
  19. As far as frame lag goes, I don't have a lagometer to say how bad it is for me when I play, though the highest I've had was 14 frames of lag against someone half a country away. We still played and had a blast though. DPs pwn everything in lag by the way. lol
  20. I just wanted to add something I have learned recently. If you're one of those players who plays fighting games just to "try stuff out" or to pick up on stuff: If you come in to a battle with a laid-back mentality that you just want to pull off a combo that you saw recently or a trick you learned... That's not going to work out if you're up against competitive players. The reason I say this is because players are going to be doing everything in their power to END you. Until the game says SLASH or FINISH, they are your enemy. People mash buttons, they're in your face, they will do all kinds of things to get you to stop doing what you want to do. In many ways it might seem like people are giving you no respect and stomping you, but think about it in terms of what their goal is: they want to win. It's only natural that they'd try to defeat you. Sure, you can experiment in the lab and try stuff out in Training Mode or against CPU, or maybe against a close friend who doesn't mind playing guinea pig. But if you're up against players who just want to win, you have to be prepared to face that and overcome it. That basically means you have to be aggressive to win. Possibly even more aggressive than your opponent. If you're like me and have a low tolerance for stress, being aggressive in anything takes a LOT of energy to pull off. So you have to be ready to deal with it and throw everything you have in to the match. That also goes for blocking and playing defense. Guilty Gear and BlazBlue are not meant to be played defensively (unless you play Tager or Potemkin, and even in their case they still have to do STUFF in the match to win), so you got to expend a lot of energy on throwing out the right normals and attacks for the right situation. Don't think of it as 'blocking', think of it as 'waiting'/baiting for an opening to attack again. Even passive players who jump backwards and airdash backwards are still throwing jabs and playing footsies hoping one of their punches will eventually find its mark. In a lot of ways those stray jabs and attacks are all potential hit-confirms. Just being ready for that is part of the game. So yeah, when you fight, you have to be going at it with people, not messing around... no hesitation, no distraction, no mind-wandering. In addition, don't just be aggressive... be aggressive and smart. Learn to know what you are doing.
  21. I got a question about Pot: I was training against avoiding Millia's mixup the other day and I discovered you can essentially empty "High Jump" behind her, and do a land-behind Potemkin Buster in some situations. Even a wiffed Mega-fist over someone's head will do this. Exactly what sort of spacing tricks can you use to set these situations up?
  22. Rule of thumb: if you can't block it, DODGE IT. Super Jump over it, use chicken blocking (Faultless Defense/Barrier aerial blocking), Dead Angles/Counterassaults... whatever you can to get out of the mess that is the random mixup. Training mode also helps. And yeah, if you feel like you're blocking too much, you gotta go on offense, but do it smart so it's not punishable. Blocking is meant to mitigate damage, not nullify it, you need to attack more and use barrier for openings.
  23. I've always wondered how they would handle Justice now that they've "revived" her. Certainly she isn't anything like Ramlethal, DI-Sol, or Dizzy per se. But, assuming we're going back to #Reload Justice (as opposed to how she was "mangled" in +R), I'd like to see something good come of it. To me, Justice isn't just about Michael Sword or N.B. juggles or even Saperia Trance wall-stick. I always thought of her as a speedy character like Chipp, despite having a huge hitbox, even having more air options to boot. The mere fact they took all that away in +R left a bitter taste in my mouth. Omega Shift was worthless, so if they implemented it again, it better be like Sol's current Dragon Install Buff (with a time extension when HP is low). I liked the way Justice was handled in GGXPlus somewhat, as you could literally "delay" her attack in a way. (Her 5H and 6H were identical back then... only difference being that 6H had an electrical effect on it and came out slower). Characters that can feint their normals can be very powerful on rushdown (especially with YRC meter). She also had Valkyrie Arc (her trap frames) and S.B.T. (Strike Back Tail) which acted as a DP of sorts but set her away from opponents so she could continue to zone with her normals. I never liked the way N.B. was handled in +R, as it forced you to play spamming it... N.B. should just be an anti-projectile tool or mixup tool and not be something you have to rely as heavily on compared to her other normals and speed (heck, if I had a choice I'd choose Michael Sword or Saperia as her go-to special or mixup tools). Saperia actually behaves like Bedman's 6H in a way, but I don't know if it can be thrown-out of (probably it can but still). So, to sum up, my wishlist: ---Michael Sword = DI Fafnir / Anji's Fujin (Horizontal DP) ---Saperia Trance = Slow-startup version of Bedman's 6H but "fast" when active and cause wall-stick/knockback. ---Replace "Air" Michael Sword with something better... not sure what... Saperia maybe? ---N.B. = Same as #Reload but maybe slower ---Valkyrie Arc = Same as Axl's Heaven can Wait, but less annoying setups to combo from it. ---S.B.T. = Like Ky's S Vapor Thrust or Slayer's Crosswise Heel but maybe slower. ---Airdash/Jump Cancels IN TACT. ---Omega Shift: Dragon Install-like Buff, but more speed/cancel oriented. ---Imperial Ray: Fine for now I guess, but her boss mode should make this a "Special" instead of an "Overdrive" for old time's sake! ---Michael Blade: Meh, I never cared for this... sure it killed backdashers and was a nice DP but, it wasn't as cool as Normal Michael Sword. Give her something new to replace this. ---Gamma Ray: Same as always with "spark launcher" (Boss version could have super armor like Ramlethal). ---Instant Kill: X-Riser same as always (should look good in Xrd). So guys, post your thoughts. What would you want for the "Revival" of Justice?
  24. That whole "toggle" idea only makes sense if you're playing against maybe one character on one lane (ala Dust Strikers). In Isuka you often had to deal with 2 characters poking you at once. That's what back attacks and lane changing and lane attacks were for. I think you could "Turn" while blocking without any problems though so long as you didn't go neutral. GGX Advanced Tag style was okay but it wasn't great, I'd like something more akin to UMvC3 with assists and such. Judgment still had a jump button though, and it still had input issues as you had to "buffer" inputs to do 214+ moves without turning around, that's why Turn would be better... less input errors.
  25. The Wheel of Fate is Turning (?) If you're still confused, here's a broader look at things. Also, Daisuke is a Liar.
