  1. http://dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=360112&postcount=1130 The story seems to be that Johnny and "Crow Kuruwaba" (though he denies it) were former students under Uncho Hirufumi's Iai school, whether it was the same Crow who betrayed the Japanese is unknown, or whether or not he became a medical doctor. What is known is that he was sealed in Dimensional Prison for a time. What's more, in recognition of Johnny's capabilities with a sword, Crow set the Justice-Copy to its maximum setting, though Johnny won regardless...in a way this further illustrates why he can beat the likes of Testament.
  2. No one ever said you couldn't D through Inferno Divider, but nobody ever remembers it hits twice up close either.
  3. I'm assuming most of that was retconned in favor of AC+ Storymode, though Ky's LtA novel touched on it I think, basically Ky didn't witness the aftermath of the fight, probably incapacitated or stayed behind with Kliff in his last moments. As for the conversation itself between Ky and Justice, its sorta like any B Ending, a clue that points to the A Ending.
  4. For Deadspike I admit I can usually 5D that on reaction, but you should be careful which D you use on it as Ragna tends to use it for Guard Strings or desperation stuff. Hells Fang is ridiculously telegraphed so catching it is something Ragna players won't let you do often if they pegged you as fishing for it, but if I were to choose, 2D gives you more options with it, otherwise 6D comes out faster if you're worried about timing.
  5. Maybe according to Gamestop, the very last place you'd ever look for a release.
  6. People ask me periodically to give a more solid definition of what Daisuke meant when he said the GGX series is considered "Gaiden" or "Extra". As said before this refers mostly to characters being Canon, but not necessarily the plot. I thought I'd give a prime example: In Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival, we are introduced to Zappa who basically goes on a wild rampage more or less and has three endings. One in which Faust tells him to go deep into the wilderness and hopefully the spirits will disperse, the second Faust just tells him there's nothing he can do, and third, he gets arrested by Officer Ky Kiske for public disturbance. Considering that, we jump forward to Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core +, where Zappa finds himself in prison. Now, assuming this is the canon part, we now know that it WAS in fact true that Ky arrested him. Poor Zappa. However, here's where it gets interesting. Note the first person Zappa encounters is Faust himself, having opened a Door "inside" Zappa's prison cell...somewhat to comedic effect, however as a result he accently "freed" Zappa from being in prison and thus let him loose upon the world once more. While this logically makes sense, the next part will not. In order for Faust to even be involved in Zappa's storyline, he must choose his B Ending path. The point where this occurs is during the PWAB event where Faust must choose his method of escape, either with an Umbrella or a Door...if he chooses the Door, he ends up by Zappa, which eventually leads down to his B ending of having given Zappa a new face to cure him of his ghost problem. Logically you say this is the B ending, since his A ending ends on a more positive (albeit ambiguous) note. That said, some aspects of A do not coincide with B, and vice versa, so in this case, Faust's A storyline "according to canon logic" would not occur unless he himself were retconned out of Zappa's story, which makes no sense since Zappa would still be in prison. While this does seem rather fitting for a nonsensical pair like Zappa and Faust, understand that this was probably an oversight on the story-writer's part on construction of how Story Mode is supposed to work. So there you have it, the plot may or may not work, or perhaps work in fragments...however, the characters still function to a degree. I hope that clears things up in terms of definition.
  7. RPGamer doesn't do reviews until a game is released. Also, I now have been playing this longer than the JP version, and my head hurts as a result. :P 3 words: Piccolo is Garland.
  8. So yeah...uh....the game....it is OUT. http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/dissidia/reviews/dissidiastrev1.html
  9. I've also decided to try that new Option Select thing next time I use my Ds.
  10. I love how unpredictable this matchup gets depending on the situation. One moment I'm swarmed by bugs, the next, Arakune gets Yukikaze'd. Also Burst for Haku is very useful if you're cursed or you're expecting a curse at the end of a string, such as a successful Bug Beam "My Insects" thing into ground curse. About the only tricks I have yet to encounter regularly is Arakune's air bee super that appears on the floor ending in curse. I usually don't see this much because their usually on the run from me. Also just a warning about using Yukikaze...mind that Arakune can warp in the corner and end up on the other side directly behind you during activation. I don't really know how Haku's Yukikaze hitbox is from behind but it didn't work last time Arakune warped.
  11. Can Touhou characters even reflect projectiles? O.o
  12. Regarding that, if you have anything specific relating to GG Plot you want to know or you're curious just go over to the OTHER thread. :3 It's the very reason I moved it over there, so that you guys can have fun in this thread and I don't have to be a IPF Officer or something regarding plotline ideas, speculate all you want here! :D
  13. Whats the red-throat one with white and black armor and blue sword from?
  14. Can I ask, regarding 5D throw break option select, I mapped my throw B+C to R1, will it still work? If I just do R1+D?
  15. Something to speculate on from what Suzaku said, if you think of Frederick/Sol as Species A becoming C, its as if he was trying to prove or rather "carve" his point directly into Sol's body. Or at least to expound upon Frederick's disageement of it...his intensions are still rather muddled or perhaps contradictory since it was his efforts that brought Gears to the world as a military force...though I suppose its possible he was undermined by military greed (Cold War Syndrome). There are still other forces at work besides That Man: Soshiki Assassins, Triads/Yakuza/Mafia, Zepp, old world Zepp remnants, companies/research facilities like Blackard, the U.N., the PWAB, alchemy research groups, Black-Tech junkyards, the International Police Force, Sacred Order remnants, Gear havens like Ganymede, subgroups like Jellyfish Pirates, A-Country, refugee colonies, Gear Plants, Yomotsuhirasaka aka Yokai Underworld, Illuria and its allies, and of course elements within and beyond The Backyard and the Cube.
  16. Regarding Justice and the Cube...the algorithm of the cube itself is based on Sol as the prototype, so it would make sense that the first mass production model would be compatible, or at least direct or indirect inheritors, though it comes into question why Valentine needed the key in the first place. Nothing is known beyond that except that the cube seems to serve as a gate to something that could drastically alter the makeup of existence. As for Anji and Baiken, being called Japanese for them is like being called monstrous zoo animals. Its how Nippon are treated in that era, plus its said that misfortune follows Japanese. Its just painful for them to talk about, especially Baiken. On top of this Anji is a thief (stole Zessen) and both are fugitives from Colony. Saying who they are isn't smart.
  17. I stick with Megaman Zero and Sephiroth colors.
  18. Additional info on That Man: --Its possible he reconstructed and modified Testament in the aftermath of the first GG. --He considers Dizzy "a daughter of darkness and light", and Valentine "an illegitimate child of a merciless apocalypse", though its speculated their origins may be reversed since Sol comments that He likes to joke around. --At one point he wished to record Solaria's song (her ability to control gears as a command type), though its not known if he obtained the sample. --He wishes to study Kinjuu (Forbidden Beasts based on Gear Technology that serve as Anti-Gear weapons). --He is capable of holding his own against Sol without the aid of his Proteus pods as he demonstrated in GGXX...though its speculated Sol wasn't in Dragon Install when he did so.
  19. Though that's pure speculation at this point. Here's data I gathered on That Man's group: --That Man is reversing his age, and as a result must create a backup of his memories periodically. --Raven "Karasu" (Kanji for Crow), is a natural-born immortal whose body is half-dead, modified by some kind of technology, he is nigh incapable of pain or loss of bodily function. He stigmatized himself attempting suicide by driving a spike through his brain. Sol has fried him crispy only for him to come back for more, he also won a dimension battle against Faust. --I-no (according to Raymond) has been able to use complex magic naturally since she was little, though she admits Time Travel is a pain to cast as a spell, she discovered Axl's time travel ability through force of impact and used it on Sol, however, Raven subverted her attempt to kill Sol and brought her back only to be sealed away by Anji. --Nothing known about the 4th person, though judging by stature it might be female we can't be certain.
  20. Okay...this is all KatsuHayami's fault for knowing how to buffer 360s and 720s into lots of stuff, but what's the logic behind dealing with that kind of throw invincibility short of being utterly cheap with 6C spam?
  21. It pains me to ask this, but what are some good setups for j2C loops? I don't mean the combos themselves, but rather, what situational tactics can I use to get into them?
  22. Just a little info, Arcade Mode is setup with no stats so that theres balance and I guess VS Mode has that option as well. Arcade Mode has you fight 5 Characters and then Chaos I guess. Considering fights have no time limit, 5 seems about right. To compare, GG has 10 stages and duels per stage and time limit. You get items for winning that you can use in Destiny Odyssey or the Level Up portions of the game, which remain intact from JP version. Also you can play a short or longer version of Destiny Odyssey as you choose.
