GG2: Overture Story Translations (**Updated w/ Sin's!)
Blade replied to Kitsoru's topic in Zepp Museum
The passage is right around where Ky is 'squeezing out his words'... それはまるで白問白答している響きがあった。 Though it might relate more to his emotional state and I'm way off about it and it doesn't explain the patch Ky wore obviously (it was just something someone asked me a while ago). Also, regarding Faust being the doctor during the birthing... Yeah that's unclear, since I hadn't fully translated it at the time, he'd seem like he'd be the only one involved (since it's likely Dizzy whom Faust met). Edit: But then again, I could be wrong and it could be someone like Crow (who was in fact a former doctor according to Slayer). -
GG2: Overture Story Translations (**Updated w/ Sin's!)
Blade replied to Kitsoru's topic in Zepp Museum
I am INCREDIBLY SORRY for my late response to this thread! D: Thanks a TON for all your hard work, all of you involved! Also regarding Sol's story...I'm still not 100% sure what the "white to white" term refers to in the Japanese in regards to Ky (probably relates to Thunderseal). But I do know that Ky likely got that eyepatch of his by accident whilst training and not out of sympathy to Sin. Also, I said this before, but I'm pretty sure the Post-War Administration Bureau is closely tied to the United Nations, so likely the "evil grin" is someone Ky either knows (Crow?) or someone related to Crow. Crow said that so long as Ky keeps hanging out with Gears, that Ky would meet him again. From what I see, they're hoping to turn Sin into the next big weapon, hence Ky shivering. Looking forward to further stuff: Sin, Izuna, Paradigm, and especially Valentine! Edit: As for Suzaku's translations, I kept those as an archive on my Scribd account for that reason. I credit him in the document. He knows about it. -
Random Junk/Trivia: ---Joji voices Hellsing, I'd say that makes him perfect as Sol. ---Takeshi Kusao voices Capricorn Shura in recent Saint Seiya, along with Parn in the Lodoss series, also Mao in Code: Geass ---Satomi Koorogi voiced Baiken in GG1...she voices Chi (the kitten) in Chi's Sweet Home, also Menchi in Excel Saga, Nina Tucker in Fullmetal Alchemist. ---Yuko (Millia) has a perfect attendance, but also voices a character in Neo Ranga IIRC. ---Kaneto Shiozawa voiced Gray Fox in Metal Gear Solid, but as of GGX Zato was scripted to die and become Eddie (even before Shiozawa's death). Takehito Koyasu voices Zechs Merquise in Gundam Wing and a few other characters in other Gundam Anime (Gundam Seed as well). ---Hideyuki Anbe WORKS for ARC System Works and was an original member of Team NeoBlood, he was the Director of Hard Corps Uprising...not bad for being Potemkins' original VA...also did work on BlazBlue. ---Takashi Kondo was GGX's announcer and not just Faust and Potemkin...he also does miscellaneous voices in the Drama CDs I think. ---Takeshi Miura composed music for Silent Hill and Resident Evil games (Chipp's VA) ---Keiichi Nanba (Axl's VA) voices KOF characters and also voiced the anime version of Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden at one point. ---Chizu Yonemoto voices various characters in the Dynasty Warriors games. ---Junichi Suwabe (Venom's VA) voices Archer in Fate/Stay Night and Relius in BlazBlue (Unlim Relius has Venom's Dark Angel as a continuity joke). ---Norio Wakamoto (Johnny) voices Chaos in Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Bison in Street Fighter, Yoshimitsu in Tekken/Soul Calibur and is a Black Belt and former Police Officer...don't mess with him. ---Katsuaki Kobayashi (Testament's current VA) was a Television Drama Actor (dunno what all he did though). ---Kazue Fujita (Dizzy's VA) voiced an Operator in the original BlazBlue Calamity Trigger intro, and also voiced a few extras (Linfan/Gii) in the Drama CDs. ---Hiroko Konishi (Bridget's original VA) was the original voice of Morrigan in Darkstalkers. ---Iemasa Kayumi (Slayer's VA) has been voicing old guys for a long time, and is likely going to retire IRL. ---Yuji Ueda (Zappa's VA) voices Strider in Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 and a whole host of other anime characters (notable for Keitaro Urashima in Love Hina and the founding president in the Genshiken series). ---Kikuko Inoue (I-No) has voiced Belldandy in the Oh My Goddess anime/movies, also voices Hrist/Ahly in Valkyrie Profile 2 and "The Boss" in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. ---Takuya Moritou (Justice/Chipp) did the really cool 'cutscene' with Justice in the first GG, he's part of Team NeoBlood. ---Yumiko Ogawa (Justice) did April as well. ---Issei Miyazaki (Sin) was the child actor Gen in "Barefoot Gen" (about World War II). ---Chie Sawaguchi (Valentine) was Niece in Record of Lodoss War, and Pero in Big O, also Lilith Eileron in the Tales games. ---Hiroki Yasumoto (Raven) also voices Crow Kuruwaba (ironically the same bird-like name? Coincidence?). ---Toschimichi Mori (Paracelsus) is BlazBlue's creator/lead artist. ---Takayuki Ideriha (Judgement/Raymond) is the director of Guilty Gear Judgement. ---Tomokazu Sugita (That Man current VA) voices Ragna=the=Bloodedge in BlazBlue (mind = blown).

Blade replied to kosmos badgirl's topic in Zepp Museum
Seriously, someone please archive these and put them on DVD...I lost track after... God knows how many months ago. -
No wonder people on Dustloop are labeled 'elitist'... You guys compare people who don't even GO here to ants. ...I'm joking.

R.I.P. Kenji Utsumi. He was THE voice. He will be missed.

If IKs were fine as they are, nobody would resort to 6P with Eddie or Kliff. If IKs were fine as they are, nobody would resort to constantly going for knockdowns on A.B.A. during Moroha. You wanna talk dumb shit...? -

I liked the "quick time" aspect of IK battles...and the fact it can be reversed on a player...or for example, if a player is in the corner...he throws an IK, it initiates it misses, and he trades spots, putting the opponent in the corner instead. There's a lot of stuff you could do with the mind games from that system. Doesn't have to end a match (just a round), doesn't mean the IK poke is unblockable (in fact it could be the worst possible poke in your arsenal despite being a guard cancel), and more than that it sets up more 50/50 guessing situations. A skilled pair of players could play the IK evade game all day and not once get cornered...not even bothering with IK command. -

Blah blah blah everyone hates old ideas and wants ME to go die...yet they still used GG1's clash system ANYWAY. So why not revise it and make it FUN and fresh? -

I personally miss the GG1 "Instant Kill Battle" system. Regardless of who initiates the "IK Poke" (which is guard cancellable and can cancel from anything): 1. You either do your IK input, or do an "evade" input. Your opponent can do the same. 2. If your opponent does IK input faster than you...you get IK'd instead (turning the tables). 3. If you or your opponent "evade" you "MISS" and you trade positions with them. 4. If you both "MISS" then you get a "push back" separation like getting hit with a Burst. At the very least they could put it in GG Mode. -

My concern about Guilty Gear's accessibility has more to do with taking the game at face value and enjoying it simply for that. Basically what I mean is, all those gamers out there with the attention span of a housefly probably won't get in to GG unless they can just pick it up and play it whilst understanding the jist of the story and liking the characters. Liking the characters is a key motivator for some towards actually LEARNING how to play those characters and understanding how the game's system mechanics work. There's players out there who feel uncomfortable playing GG simply because of the character designs alone...not even talking about the game's system. Yes yes, Metal is the Devil's Music and all that... So they play Street Fighter because apparently everybody and his mom plays Street Fighter. And this has absolutely nothing to do with game complexity...just P.R. Heck, some people don't like Ky because he looks like a woman now...if that keeps players from buying the game I will be sad. Granted, not everyone is going to like the game (there's always haters), but it wouldn't hurt to make things a bit more...I dunno...receptive and welcoming to those new to GG, would it? Like throwing a party for new guests, sorta thing... -

All I know is...it's a pain in the ass to buffer 82824789666+B+G for Ivy in Soul Calibur V. And it's a pain in the ass to do I-No's 632146(FRC)6 Airdash Chemical Loves. I don't give a crap if anyone says it gets easier with practice...if you can't do it right off the bat and other people can do as much damage for less effort with their characters...my mind hurts just thinking about the logic behind making moves like that even exist... What's the point of making characters difficult to use? -

Related more to the topic that isn't meta battles...someone mentioned Pachi...is he the guy who 'predicted' Guilty Gear would be more like Street Fighter IV? If so, I'd like to know his source. If not...who was? I distinctly remember a conversation on Dustloop regarding that (a beer with an ARCsys dev or so I heard). Also, regarding source...someone also mentioned the guy who does the vocals for "Heavy Day" was part of a band called Outrage...as in OutRage?!? I never heard of a J-Rock band named OutRage, so I'd like to know more. Sources please! @Digital Watches:...I suck at inputs for a lot of things for various reasons...crappy old D-Pad not being responsive being one of them...would you say that accounts for "thinking differently" during a match? (i.e. falling back on another tactic if I don't do an input correctly?) Also, what's your opinion on moves with elaborate inputs, such as Ivy's command throws in the Soul Calibur games (or Dizzy's Necro's Anger input)...should they remain difficult? Or should they be made easier and just be nerfed in some other way? -

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Blade replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
I read this entire thread from page 1...phew.... Well, I'm gonna say it (even if Circ bitched about it already, but)... The clash system the trailer is using is a throwback from Guilty Gear: The Missing Link. Basic idea was...after 3 clashes, there was "pushback" (giving both players a gap/space). But they revised it based on attack levels. So if you clash with a stronger attack you'll be in stun. So it's something like: Heavy Slash beats Slash 2H (Crouching Heavy) "matches" j.H (jumping Heavy) and causes pushback (but might leave the standing opponent in slight stun). I'm not sure what all matches with 6P (Forward+Punch) besides close-standing Slash. I think the reason they're doing this is probably to cut down on the "clash cancel" nonsense that older GGs and BlazBlue is full of that let you infinite-cancel in to anything after a clash (Inferno Divider Clash Loops for example lasted until one player got tired of mashing DPs). So no more crazy "manual" clash sequences (unless you know the formula and can show off like some players do their 'handshakes' in combo videos). Also seems like 6P's counterhit was modified with a floor-slide+bounce state, that might be useful for some combos (depending on if the bounce is technically in the air for relaunches or not or on the ground for OTG combos or not). Other than that, I agree that the majority of GG's scene should be grateful for its current (and growing) numbers and be open to new blood and be willing to teach (or simplify their teaching methods) so as not to scare off newbies with complicated jargon. I'm also hoping they do away with the complexity that was Jump Install and just give us a Jump Cancel after a High Jump. Dunno about Dust Attacks or Overdrive cancels though. There were no super flashes or freezes for Overdrives yet (not for Sacred Edge or Fafnir either), so it's still in development. -
What's the worst someone could do? Teabag with an Unlim? Been there, done that.

Well, in case anyone cares, I finally FINALLY got BBCSExtend for PS3...being poor sucks. I'm probably nowhere near your level of skill since I've fallen behind and gotten rusty. But if you're up for some silly casual matches or just wanna help me earn P$ to unlock everything or get trophies, shoot me a message. PSN: Mimeblade Also, feel free to ask me Guilty Gear Questions if it's on your mind too. Edit: Also got Accent Core Plus and Soul Calibur V if you're up for that too!

In Guilty Gear, there aren't that many "multi-phase" rushdown characters like Relius...except maybe Eddie, Dizzy maybe, Venom sorta...Anji kinda works in some ways due to his auto-guard system and the range of his attacks. If you want distance pressure, Axl and Kliff are probably your best bets. I'd also suggest Jam, Slayer, and Sol for rushdown, but Jam has trouble in some matchups I think. You can always try Millia too, since she can slip in safely enough in a lot of mixups.

Kagura for Ky Kiske (GG2 Palette) and maybe give "That Man" palette to Terumi. :D
-
I assume you're referring to the "BlazBlue-ish" palettes for +R? So far no info has been mentioned other than the palettes themselves (it's in one of the other GG news threads I think).

I say "Please" and people still talk crap and hate on EX Mode. Way to go, Dustloop. Informative as always.
-
Answer the question, please. What changes (if any) were there? Bias about EXs shouldn't be allowed, especially considering that the majority of the move list FOR EXs served as the base for R's revisions.

Tataki, please label your Links and put them in the first post (you forgot to post Episode 3 as well).
