Guilty Gear Vastedge XT concept illustrations and story line thread

See, thing is, while May and Bridget don't seem to age as time marches on, then you have characters like Baiken who seem like they existed further and further back in the timeline (back when before Japan was destroyed...which might be as early as 2073 which means Baiken is over 100 years old...god I don't wanna think about it, especially in consideration to Naruto's 'age sealing' methods). Honestly, for now, all I can say is, I generally don't like relying on little unstable internet factoids like this, and Japan is just...wow, yeah I got no clue. "Around Six" could be 5 or 4 years old for Sin for all we know. That, and there is no calculated standard for Gear age, either, just an estimate based on Dizzy from GGX. Don't get me started on the mystery that is Raven or Age-Reversing "That Man". -

Six years old is kinda pushing it. 2183-84 is the earliest Sin would've been around. -

Thought I'd take this time to point out that the sword in this Pachislot game that Sol uses is labeled "Junkyard Dog Mk.II" Whereas the sword (which looks different btw) in GGXrd is labeled "Junkyard Dog Mk.3" So I'm guessing, this game is after Overture but just before GGXrd...not sure if it's character reveals are official or secret or sidestory or what yet... -

I still can't get over the fact we got an OutRage Lightbulb off a Pachinko Machine....... *facepalm* I was expecting the Senga to be a sword... -

Small Animals: Winged Chipmunk Creatures in Dizzy's old stage Grove Fairy: Her name's Assistant Bonnie I believe. Large Weapon: Looks to be built by Zepp in design (Blacktech?) Bounty Hunters 1-4: Might be from Bel Canto Valley Mob 1-10: Seemingly might be extra characters from Axl Low's old London stage (they look familiar) ZT13/Senator Soldiers/Cerberus: United Nations Enemies? Pirate 1: April Pirate 2: June Pirate 3: Leap Pirate 4: Sephy Pirate 5: Janis Sacred Treasure: Flashing Fang (Senga) is the 5th confirmed OutRage fragment. -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

You know, what with the way games are being tightly presented nowadays, it's not that hard to fit multiple storylines into a single package. BlazBlue CS Extend's "Calamity Trigger Reconstruction" is a pretty good example of that. If they reboot the story, they might do it from Accent Core onwards since that's the most relevant story in everyone's minds. Then again, they could get away with doing several stories based on GG's Timeline of events. --Crusades (Retold) <<Sol/Ky/Kliff/Justice/Axl/Slayer/Flament Nagel/Testament/I-No>> --Night of Knives (Retold) <<Millia/Zato/Venom/Slayer>> --The Missing Link (Retold) <<GG Cast>> --Lightning the Argent (and Xtra) <<Ky/Sol/Faust/Raven/Johnny/Baiken/Anji/Axl/Potemkin>> --By Your Side (Retold) <<GGX Cast> --Midnight Carnival (Retold) <<GGXX Cast>> --Butterfly and Her Gale (Retold) <<Chipp/Venom/Potemkin>> --Overture (Retold) <<GG2 Cast>> That would essentially cover the timeline up to this point (and any required fights for each said story). -

Since we're speculating Overture Characters: ------- Sin ------- A mix of Kilik and Kliff in terms of range (with lots of air to ground pressure). Voltic Eye = Stun Raise ------- Izuna ------- Bits of Slayer, Bits of Chipp, Bits of Hsien-Ko (like sky running almost like Faust), and bits of Johnny as well. He could probably dispel traps too so he might prove a threat to Testament. ------- Valentine ------- Mu-12 as far as lasers go, Rachel as far as mobility/air control goes/lots of air game like I-No probably. Also her escape move "Bye-Bye" could work like a super backdash or something. ------- Dr. Paradigm ------- Despite how bad he is in Overture, he could play like Juda in Hokuto no Ken, by summoning assistants, creating barriers, and dropping anti-air Apples on people's heads! He could also play like Iggy in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Summons could also possibly be as bad or worse than Eddie's or Carl + Ada. ------- Raven ------- I picture Raven being a mix between Nu-13 and Hazama and maybe Venom's teleport. He'd have Nu's Gravity Fields to slow people down, and Hazama's mixup/pokes/range/spider-man-ness. ------- Robo-Valentine/Justice! Valentine ------- She has chainsaws for arms, so she'd be brutal (albeit slow) on block. Her projectiles would likely go up and come down like Robo-Ky's knee rocket or something. She could also do something like Order-Sol's flame burst manually too maybe. She'd have super-armor, pretty much. ------- That Man ------- Basically a mix between Dr. Doom and Unlim Mu-12. His Proteus pods would be like the Cocoon boss in Arcana Heart. -
This thread is fail because ARC stands for "A.ction R.evolution C.hallenge" System Works.

I could easily suspect Justice getting replaced by Robo-Valentine or equivalent. -
Yeah actually I read that in an old text book on animation, not Wiki (also Disney was inspired by some French artists who came up with the idea of animation or animated-motion). As for the "Kubrick Stare" Akira Toriyama essentially mastered that. Back on topic: anyone who calls fighting games "animu" is just too scared to try new things.

They were just called 'Gear body parts' (there's a specific term they use but I forget the name at the moment) since they were pretty much parts of Gears falling from a Space Lab Station that latched on to Mizuha's Kotodama EM signal (since it seems the ship was looking for life on other planets and got confused and went back to Earth). The idea was that they were trying to experiment by testing to see how Gears react in outer space or how they handle zero gravity. Likely because of the Crusades, the Space Station was abandoned out in distant orbit and only recently came back...because of Justice it likely became a Gear Hive (Gear Plant) but once she died all the Gears onboard became inactive or died or fell apart due to the vacuum of space or other factors. When Geena used her powers to merge with the Space Station it was her intent to crash land it on to Earth. I doubt the Gears on board would've been a threat though unless any became sentient somehow. But Tyr and Mizuha along with Zepp's air fleet shot the ship to bits, so... I guess no one will ever know.

As someone who took Art History, I hate to tell you guys this, but Osamu Tezuka was inspired by Walt Disney. Anything American is inspired by Japan, and anything Japanese is inspired by America. Just get over it. It's art. Also the only reason American stuff is called "Cartoons" is because of Drive-In Movies where you could listen to "Merry Melodies" in your Car back in the 1930s-50s during Intermissions between movies. Car TUNES, get it? Anime is just Japanese for Animation. There, I just de-mystified everything for you.

^ And as I SAID before, that is a bunch of nonsense and we should just put out a legit poll around here with the entire cast as options just to be sure. Haha. Anyways, regarding Gears, some can be taller than several buildings (if the beastly fellow with the glowing eyes in Xrd's Nirvana stage is any indication), some can be smaller than a butterfly, so as far as diversity goes, I recommend consulting Dungeons & Dragons or Monster Hunter's Bestiary (lol I kid, but you get the point). But to be fair, the more unique Gears are humanoids (technically, for example you could call Gig a humanoid, even if the other half of her is ugly as hell) and Command Types (even incomplete Command types like Solaria, to say nothing of how that affects her 'human' sister Marina). Unique among unique of course is the Prototype Gear (Sol Badguy). Main reason is because his ability to regenerate comes from Dragon Install, he isn't nearly as durable or able to transform as freely like Dizzy can. Yeah sure he can take cuts and gunshots, but he has to use Dragon Install to heal otherwise it probably still hurts like hell.

I'm sticking with Henaki's idea: GRCs (Gold Roman Cancels) -
I'd be interested in going if I had a ride and maybe a chance to bring my private PS2 collection again (this time featuring Korean #Reload!) at a casual venue. As for tournaments though, that was kinda scary last time (you guys are way above my skill level), hahah. 2 days might be el-expensivo for my budget though... Anyone in Milwaukee planning on going?

I knew something was "off" about the XX and Isuka art... It looked like Ishiwatari's style, but at the same time...'didn't'. Thanks for pointing that out, Suzaku. -

LuciferD666, whilst you may have a point about assisting designers/artists, when it comes to illustrations and cover art, typically it's all Ishiwatari. As for character select art from Isuka and XX and such, yeah that might be someone else, but stuff like detailed faces/heads is usually him. The high rez vector stuff from Accent Core though is definitely someone else, probably Mori or something. -
Like I said before regarding Valentine, the only reason she needed Justice' (and by extension, Sin's) Prime Field was to unlock the Cube. There's no indication she needed it for anything else.

Well, from what I understand, it has to do with how many projectile/particle effect elements are on screen all at once. Things like Lv3 Gunblaze, hit-smash light effects, the psychadelic effects that happen when a character is hit with a Lightning or Fire attack, etc etc...all cause the game to lag and mess with PS3's memory.

No, actually that would've happened afterwards. Figure, the revolt started in 2074... Dizzy wasn't born until 2178-79ish (in December), we don't hear about "That Man" having been kidnapped until sometime AFTER Ky's Death in 2173. So sometime between 2173-2183 was when "That Man" was found chained up in one of his own Gear Plants (it might've been after Justice' death at Sol's hands, causing Dizzy to blame humanity for her death so maybe 218X).

DI is looking more and more like it'll function like Devil Trigger in the UMvC3 games. -
This is just a theory but: "That Man's" situation in Japan might've been under military orders. Likely some military group was manipulating him and the Gear army he created against his intentions. So likely he revolted by somehow causing Justice to go rogue.

Leopaldon was described as a dog-Gear according to the 10th Memorial bit that was translated of him. So everything you see is just ONE Gear all merged together in one body. As for denying what's been said instead of hanging on every word... I'd only do that if it conflicts with what's currently been stated or if it was a mistranslation. Especially given the most recent Xrd Trailer, Daisuke is a STICKLER for details! Much like myself. :D

At this point I think it's important to clarify that while Dizzy "claims" Justice to be her mother, they look nothing alike. What's more, how could Dizzy have been born during the time Justice was sealed away? If she was sealed in 2175 and Dizzy was born in 2178...that would mean that something must've happened during that time frame (assuming something DID happen). Even more than that, Dizzy's confrontations with the Justice Copy are a little eerie. She claims she gets a headache from it, yet Testament and Sol have no such reaction. Why is this? On top of that there's the issue of Eddie. When Dizzy met him he claimed that "it is required that we fight", not so much out of duty but based on the natural predatorial instincts of a Forbidden Beast towards a Gear, implying they were natural enemies. Dizzy denies this by saying "those feelings are artificial". Why would she say this? How could she know this? How could she know anything about a war that happened before she was born? In other instances, Dizzy has claimed she has resisted the imperative to "kill" people around her when threatened, as if something was telling her to do so in her head. In other words, it's possible many of her memories are implants. It's also possible she was made to believe Justice was her mother for the purpose of further REPLACING Justice altogether as the so-called "Justice Backup" as stated by Dr. Paradigm in Overture. Lastly, there is the mystery surrounding the "OutRage" marking next to her Gear Mark and name in the ring of magic that circles her feet whenever she is on the ground in combative stance...the only clue we have is that the word "OutRage" aside from being associated with the 8 Sacred Treasures, has also been found printed on Gear Plant Generation Tanks in an old GG Bible Illustration. I think something's amiss with Dizzy, moreover I'd say we don't know everything about Justice either, as there is no indication that she EVER called Sol "Frederick" the same way Valentine did. (Which either means it was a story discrepancy or she simply did not remember him as a human being? But if she knew Frederick, why address him as Sol or "Flame of Corruption"? Valentine addresses him as neither, yet STILL calls him Frederick in the end-game of Overture.) At this point, any assumptions on Justice and Dizzy will just lead to further confusion, so until more is revealed, I'd like to wait on these questions regarding our favorite Command Type Gears. I know how everyone feels about them, wanting to know more, but until we do it's nothing but speculation.
