I'm guessing you meant 5C, 2C after the dash? Not trying to be a dick just didn't want anyone to be confused.
-
I just realized i left out a major point of my post ghaleon my bad. The early J.2C doesn't hit. It was a whiff. So basically i cancelled chain follow earlier and landed quick by doing J.2C early, thus stopping how far I followed the chain, and giving me enough time to land and do standing 2C and still not break the combo. Now that I've clarified, any thoughts? Edit: because i still think it looks confusing here is the combo notation. Opponent Jumps 1 character length above ground. J.5D (CH), A, J.5D. D, early J.2C (wiff) land, 2C. (then potentially jump combo, or 4D, D combo).
-
Something I stumbled across today, seems highly situational and maybe was discussed before but i didn't find anything while browsing the threads: Seems like there might be a little potential in canceling a chain follow into an early 2C to combo at heights that a direct chain pull might not be very easy or even possible to do beyond something like J.B. Jump cancel, follow up. Today, entirely on accident I did, J.5D (counter hit) A, J.5D, D, early J.2C, land, 2C and it all combo-ed. Now i didn't follow up because it was just a mistake and I didn't expect it to combo, but I'm guessing I would have had time to do 4D, chain follow, etc. Could be completely impractical or useless, but seems like it might be a nice situational reaction tool to learn. Any thoughts? Edit: I should note when i hit with the J.5D it was against bang and he was about one character height in the air.

Good shit Wuku! Wow So Jabaki is safe on block, that surprises me actually. Mad props for this.
-
Obviously it's hard to tell without having the mook out, but has anyone got a feel for what moves are safe on block. I feel like 214D~A is, especially on charge (though it may not change it at all, not sure). Maybe 6B as well? Though i don't know what the hell to do with that move at this point.
-
I had a big problem with this too at first. When you do your dash make sure you let the stick go back to neutral before you press C. If you try to press it too early you will basically buffer a dash cancel of 6C instead of C. Basically you have more time to hit C than you think, so try delaying it a bit more and it should be a 5C instead of a 6C. I have notoriously bad execution and got it down fairly quickly, it's just a quirky input, but once you get it, it's pretty easy.
-
i noticed this pretty quickly. If you have a good punishment opportunity, ruin that shit by starting with 5c over 5b. A solid increase in damage, and doesn't take that much effort to learn at all.
-
Makes sense, I've been trying to teach myself to hit confirm D attacks if intend to grapple in as a follow, doesn't seem to be that difficult even at longer ranges, but sound advice non the less. Definitely interested in hearing as many good habit/bad habit advice as anyone is willing to give.

So for those of you who have had the luxury of playing other solid comp with hazama, what would you say are the important traps to avoid falling into while learning him? Every character has good habits and bad habits to pick up on the learning process so I was just curious to know what those of you who've had a chance to play actual live competition have discovered during that process.
-
My guess is it's probably not noted just because it's the default string to start with. Easiest handle and build next level mixups with. I agree however that it gets overlooked, especially on it's safety. Slash veterans probably forgot about it because in that game there were far better options because of the various guard gauge jacking and re-butterfly strings. I miss gear already, sigh.

Gear was small because everyone pussed out, blame yourselves for sucking. I live in Iowa. Let that sink in for a bit. Iowa, the state with corn, in the middle of nowhere. and i still showed up for EVO for no other reason than to play guilty gear. It's an insult to the real gear players that gear isn't on the poll, but even the real gear players realize that putting it on there was a waste of time, because this country is full of lazy ass loudmouths who would rather dickwave on the internet than actually travel and play the game.

Oh it is vamp, it is.

First off, isn't joe higashi the best chipp in europe considering he's gone to SBO like twice? 2nd off, lol at him being better than the likes of Lil majin. Like the guy or not his chipp is unbelievable. On a more serious note: Don't worry about a 3rd or even a 2nd character, most people can't play their main properly. Lack of comp in the states requires you to learn even more with your character.

As promised it's tried and true shoutout time!. Bozac - Just as last year, thanks for being the MC of another fine midwest guilty gear tourney. I think everyone involved appreciates how much effort you put into this thing, and how smoothly it runs with so many people. Guilty Gear is the sole reason I met all you guys, and I hope it never truly dies, but if this was the last great Gear tournament til a new version here in the midwest, then it went out with a bang. Great job and congrats on another tourney win. Rob - Was nice to see you again, much like Bozac mad props for taking time out of your vacation back to run a very nice tourney. I hope CS has a chance to grow on you, it's obvious you put a lot of work into Blazblue. Congrats on your victory and I hope the trip back to Japan is swift and safe (same goes for you Bozac). Mac - Sorry we didn't get a chance to get plastered, the hotel situation and a wifey that was tired of sitting in the room alone ggpo'ed my drinking opportunity. That aside, please stop playing Slayer, my butthole still hurts. If players hit combos half as well as you do we might actually have less scrubs in the US. Keep repping that busted ass stick! For Macs only! Tad - Always nice to see you again. Sweet run in Blazblue, your noel is really solid man. Keep me up to date on those potential TN tourneys. It's a long trek, but it was too fun to pass that up again. John (slymoogle) - Impressive shit in the team tourney. I'm still kicking myself for hitting FRC On, but missing the burst grab/punish. That point aside you were outplaying me in that match. I don't fight the mirror enough to remember all the silly shit i can and can't do. you earned it in both our teams matches. M.Song - Pleasure teaming up with you. You're Robo is really good, which is nice to see, no one reps that guy anymore. Clutch wins all across the team tourney and i had a good time playing you in casual. That's a matchup i don't see much, so it was fun to get some practice in. Great job all around. Senkei - Good to finally meet you and get some games in, thanks a ton for letting me tag along for the ride in the team tourney. You're Faust is not just gimmicky, it's really damn good. I have no illusions that our tourney match turned out the way it did because of matchup experience. I'll take em any way i can, but i have no doubt that once you know that fight better you'll be no fun to fight with Anji. Always cool to meet a chill dude who will take a long journey out to the cold ass midwest for gear. Vortex - First time ive met or played you, and ouch. You're jam came out of nowhere and knocked me flat on my ass, twice! Real good defense, and you know how to use her pokes extremely well. My dumbass kept trying to take that fight to air when i know it doesn't work. I've always always struggled with good jams, it's a nightmare fight for Anji. I had nothing for you, good shit. Prucha - Bout time you showed up again ya ass! All kidding aside i know what it's like to get busy with real life and priorities and shit, so good on you for that man. You're venom is still sicker than shit, sorry we didn't get any games in. Always great to have you around, even if work keeps you busy don't stop playing, it's too fun having you around at tourneys bro. Jesse - Your testament has leveled up hellas sir. Well done, thanks for the pull of the flask, that's what i love to see. QUIBATIME - Man, the epic battle just keeps moving on doesn't it? Hard to believe just 7 years ago you guys were showing me just how scrubby my anji was. I've always had fun playing you, it seems like our skill levels are always close to one another and we always have great fights that come down to pixels. Truly it's been a pleasure playing you, and even more of a pleasure to have you as a friend at tournies. If that was truly our last clash, then it's been a great run. Frankie - GG's in Blazblue man. I'm definitely not much more than your average ragna scrub and i happened to mash out some lucky shit in our match. Hopefully CS gets me more interested in taking the game seriously and trying to learn it right. Pleasure bullshitting with you later too. J1n - The one and only. Nothing completes a gear tourney without you bro. Thanks for only using Nu once, i always like the freebie lol. Needs more J1n gear commentary, scrubs just..don't..know. Jerry - Mad props for recording everything you did. Your Sol seems greatly improved from the last time I saw it so really good shit there. Nice to get to talk with you for abit. Kurt - Grats on your run in BB, nice talking with you too. Hopefully i'll catch you on Live once CS gets a console release. Tolore - Way to rep the northwest, both your baiken and arakune are very very strong. Sorry i couldn't put up much of a fight in BB, that's one matchup i just kind of lay down for haha. Excellent job in both games. Andy (capps) - Always good to see you man, didn't get any games in this go round, we'll have to rectify that next time. Jeff (kurasa) - Awesome that you popped up man. Sorry i was deadweight in our BB team. Aaron says you are thinking about learning Gear. you're TvC skills are more than enough proof for me to say hell yes to that idea. Good shit, i'll make it down to an AR sometime soon. Andy (Blackhat) - Always a pleasure. Thanks for getting us a game in the team tourney. It's always fun to get some bullshit time in with you, hopefully i'll make it down to your neck of the woods again soon. AKA - It's not a real tournament for me if you aren't there. You'll always be my long lost brother, keep me up to date on whatever game you are focusing on, i'm always willing to learn, most of what i have learned in the last 3 years has been with your help during our long bullshitting sessions. If tekken online really is getting better maybe you can start learnin me in that too. Take care, we'll get together again soon bro. if i missed anyone, my apologies. it was a great time as always, and I hope this is a sign to everyone that Gear isn't ready to roll over and die just yet.

It's kinda hard to argue with this. Good shit everyone, shoutouts later.

Cool mike, i may stop out tonight not sure yet. Gonna hang out with the wife and relax since she's just gonna stay here tomorrow. I will plan on getting to wingate around 10am then. Just out of curiosity i google mapped the best way to get there from carol stream is to go up 355 to 290 west to 53 north and get off on palatine. Is that my best bet or is there an easier route that you know about?
-
Alright guys i have safely arrived in carol stream. Traffic isn't too awful out here so im hoping that travel back and forth between here and the wingate wont be a big issues. Bozac i've got my TV and PS2 for gear still so i'll bring it tomorrow. What time are you going to start setting up so i can try and get out early to help out and get extra casual in. I'll prolly be up for casual later tonight, just give me a call or somethin and we'll figure out whats goin on. I've got a bigass plasma tv in this room that i already figured out how to get a ps2 on so i'll see how the lag is on it, i may be able to play some here. See you all soon. P.S. for my fellow midwest folk who are still lookin for teams, give me a hollar.

Oh shit son, airbite tech resets? I like where this is goin. Anji needs a change to forcebreak butterfly. New idea: FB butterfly is the dragon from his IK. It comes out of the fan and lasts just as long, but now you get oki off it! Also if it hits it's still IK. -
Ok, so I'm going to put it like this: I'm stuck in a hotel almost an hour away because the holiday inn are a bunch of fucks. I came home tonight yet again to find my sewage system fucked (if you don't know, i'm in the middle of a 100k value lawsuit because of my cities incompetence that ruined me and my wife's home)yet again, ruining my basement. Thankfully there is nothing down there now but a washer/dryer and a heater. Despite this horde of bullshit looming over me yet again, im coming to this tournament, just like i did to final round in 2008 less than 20 hours after the whole original ordeal (p.s. that would be the same tournament i showed up too after having nearly everything i owned destroyed, and i still beat the shit out NAS in guilty gear, so if you read this you east coast fuck, don't you dare ever talk shit about me again). If you are a real Gear/BB player and you said you would make it and don't come, you are a fucking liar, a fake, and a joke. I expect you motherfuckers to show up, play games, and get drunk. No goddamn exceptions. This post probably comes off as comical, it's not. I'm 100% serious, my household is once again fucked, and i refuse to let it ruin my week, my life, and my chance to come spend time with the players (check that.. the friends) i want to see. If you bail on this tournament, you are a pussy and a coward, the fucking end. Man up and get there. -TBN

Bozac given my situation with the holiday inn fuckers i'm going to try to limit trips back and forth to a minimum. That being said i would like to play casual friday night, i don't know if you want to work something out where maybe you and aaron come down to the hotel im at, or if you have setup space at your place i would be willing to head that way, either way let me know what is up so i can try and not drive out saturday morning totally cold for games.
