Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN
Jackie Chandler replied to Milln's topic in Locals
It might be hard for Milln to get off work for next week this late. If it wouldn't be a problem, though, I propose changing it to August 6th as well. It would definitely be a bigger turnout, and I'd feel less bad for not having all the MWC videos up this Saturday. -

I just caught the end of the UMvC3 stream, and I noticed a few things you guys might be interested in. Viewtiful Joe can X-Factor in the air. The only other character known to be able to do that up to this point (as far as I know) is Firebrand, though I guess it could extend anywhere from certain characters (kind of like airdashes do) to the entire cast. Ryu's Shinku Hadoken now seems to be able to bounce off walls, kind of like how Cyclops's Super Optic Blast (or whatever it's called) can in MvC2. Spencer has a j2C-esque move. If this isn't new, I just don't recall seeing it used before. Storm has a wind move kind of like Rachel's 4D. She pulled in a player and grabbed them after it, but the clip was brief so I'm not sure if it was a command grab or wind into regular grab. Either Ryu's Super Tatsu got a new animation, or Akuma got a Super Tatsu. It had storm clouds and lightning around it. It looked pretty cool. -

Hellz yeah. Agreed with everybody, though. The HUD is absolutely horrific. Here's to hoping they change it. For when I pick up the game used. *Puts on sunglasses* Fuck you, Capcom. -

Good news- Jackie has a new computer. Work shall resume on MWC footage soon. Bad news- Megaman Legends 3 just got cancelled. I'm so fucking pissed right now. RAGE EDIT: Seriously. Capcom will never see another dime from me. If I MUST own a Capcom game, I'll be buying it used. And if the content is only available as DLC/XBLA/PSN, fuck it. Fighting games included. -

Sorry for being gone the past couple of days, guys. Guess what? My computer finally broke. And not in the way I expected, either. I just put it into sleep mode a couple days ago, tried to open it back up about half an hour later, and was greeted with a blank screen and the Caps Lock/End lights blinking. According to HP's website, that's a CPU failure. So, the bad news is that I'll be checking the internet, including Dustloop, significantly less since I'll have to borrow someone else's computer to do so. The GOOD news is that I already exported MWC videos over to an external hard drive, so I have access to those even before I get my computer fixed. The OTHER bad news is that I have family visiting right now, on top of babysitting, as well as a wedding to go to this coming weekend. So especially with commentary to overlay, more videos to work with, and how busy my schedule is looking, it could be a while before I get ALL the videos done. My apologies, everyone. Life's just really busy right now. Milln- Would you mind uploading the last two MTN6 videos when you get the chance? They're on the red flash drive I gave you. -

I'm up for the entry fee staying at five dollars (plenty of people break the bank to make it to these tournaments all the time), think Marvel should stay, don't think MK is popular enough to warrant monthly tourneys (yet?), love the Mystery Game idea, and haven't played Child of Eden though it interests the FUCK out of me. If anyone's interested, it's $30 this week at Gamestop ONLINE ONLY. Orders over $25 qualify for free shipping, so it's not like you'd be paying any extra. -

I've actually heard really good things about it. I should look into it while the game's on sale. Thanks for the heads up. Pfffffffffffffff. I couldn't stand that game. I played through five levels over at a friend's house with four people and not one of us could take it any more. Record of Agarest War seems pretty solid though. And it IS pretty funny you'd switch to Mu after making a big deal of memorizing Noel's frame data. XD -

Oh, so THAT'S why they bought those hats that look just like yours, started playing Come on Baby at a competitive level, and are working inventory right now. EVERYONE wants to be the next Milln. *Puts on hat* -
LIES. I don't even know whether I'm kidding or not. You have a really, REALLY solid Platinum already, and it seems like you have a grasp of a lot of the more advanced mechanics of the game. My apologies for underestimating you. Fun casuals, though. Hope to do some more before the next tournament, when you WILL make it up.

Oh yeah. I know this is completely off topic, but I was talking with a few of you at MWC about the Australian cover art for Continuum Shift, and I never got to show you guys. In case you guys were still curious... There you go. -

LOL. The funny thing is that Azure Phoenix JUST posted in the MWC thread yesterday asking if there was anybody in Memphis to practice BB with. Get at him about it. Yeah, Hakumen was hard to use in both CT and CSI, but now he justseems... Much more high-risk low-reward. He's still viable, and in the hands of someone with good reflexes to use his Drive with, he can be godly. Just be patient with him and you can do fine. :] As for the MvC team, I'll let the more practiced give you advice on that, haha. -

I feel like a Mystery Game every month would be a good addition to the roster. Samurai Kirby seemed like a huge success after all. It wouldn't have to be anything extravagant to get people hyped, and the possibilities are endless. That's just an idea though. The only other games I could think of adding to the roster are AH3 and/or Suguri, but I'm sure those have both already crossed your mind. And just a small note/correction regarding the MvC3 rules. The Zero glitch has been removed, so that part of the rules should probably be removed. Also, you may want to check around, but I *think* the DHC glitch is generally accepted in the tourney scene. Can anyone who knows about Marvel on that level (Doromac, Astaroth, Naimat) clarify? -

1. Yeah, people should start moving back to this thread from the MWC thread soon enough. 2. Awesome! Welcome back to the BB scene. 3. Damn that's a ballsy main change. 4. MTN is always the last Saturday of the month, so... *Checks calender* It should be July 30th. Hope to see you there. :] -
What's this?! People in Tennessee wanting to learn Blazblue?! What bizarre parallel dimension have I wandered into? Jokes aside, it's a pleasure to meet you. Like Milln, I have a PS3 copy of BBCS, but I opt to play on 360 the majority of the time since I'm more comfortable with its controller. If you'd like, though, I can try to explain some of the game's mechanics to you through online play some time this week, and/or get some friendlies in. I already shot you a friend request on PSN, so just let me know if/when you want to. Welcome to MTBB. :D

Awesome, awesome times this weekend, even if they were a little crazy at times. My apologies to everyone who had to deal with the craziness that was my mom showing up in Murfreesboro at 2 in the morning, the imaginary Arby's, the most physically uncomfortable McDonald's trip ever, and less than five hours of sleep. I had a lot of fun that night. :3 And sorry I had to leave so suddenly Sunday, but I had to be home by a certain time. :/ Anyway, shoutouts (in alphabetical order by username, after the two guys who let me stay at their place, haha): Milln: I'm running out of clever ways to say that I'm eternally grateful. Not only did you run the most hype tournaments EVAR (SAMURAI FUGGIN' KIRBY), but you were totally cool with like ten people staying the night at you and K.O.'s place, too, myself included, as well as keeping your head cool with a million things going on at once. If you need anything, let me know man. I'm sure I owe it to you and more. Keep on wearing dat hat and bringing dat hype. I'm anticipating next MTN already. :D P.S. Sorry again for telling your girlfriend to "give you a chance." I was convinced it was you two's first date for some reason and even told her I tend to make situations like that terribly awkward. XP K.O.- On the off chance you're reading this, thanks for being cool with a bunch of strangers hanging at you and Milln's place. It was really awesome meeting you and hanging out- I can tell you and Milln get along just fine. :] Hope you can make it to some more tournaments, and try to get into dat Blazblue. Milln will tell you... Middle Tennessee Needs More Blazblue. Astaroth- I still stand by our matches being the hypest in Blazblue. XD Astral, into being Perfected, into Perfecting, into almost 720'd, into BARELY win? I hope our matches at the next MTN will be just as exciting. :] Oh, and congrats on the placing in the Marvel tourney (as well as BB, of course)- the competition there was CRAZY. I hope our casuals from the night before didn't mess with you any; I know my playing style can be a little awkward. XP Just keep on proving bad characters can seem broken. It's clearly what you're good at. :3 Doromac- It only hit me after MWC that you never got to show me that Akuma combo. D: Do want 2C and/or remember what it was. If worse comes to worst, show it to me next tourney. I AM interested in it. :] Keep up the awesome work in Marvel- I see you improving ALL the time- but keep on practicing Blazblue too. In return, I'll work on my Marvel, how about that? :D Eshi- Congratulations on winning Blazblue! I guess I shouldn't be surprised. :P It's kind of funny to hear I was your worst fear, haha. Casuals got me pretty excited, and I was really hoping to face you in the tourney actually (or at least in some more casuals afterwards, our matches were really fun), but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Yeah, Elliot somehow mopped the floor with me in the tourney, and you left before Samurai Kirby was over when I was going to try and get in some casuals with people. :[ I'll do my best to improve before the next tourney, and try to do less DPs... But the Astrals? I dunno if I can drop those. X3 Grimstar- Thanks a bunch for showing and hyping up the tournament, even if you were only there to compete in Samurai Kirby. It was good seeing you playing in something after so long, and meeting your girlfriend. If you don't mind my saying so, she's a keeper dude. :] Hope you can get back into Blazblue soon. MTNBB. Klein- Indeed, definitely fun hanging out. (Read top of post) I'll try to brush up on my Guilty Gear before next time, so we can have some more epic casuals while drinking epic orange tea. It'll be so awesome the GG cabinet will break temporarily, and then I'll fix it. :D Lrn2CSIIHakumen tho. It'll help train your reflexes for League of Legends, too... I promise. :3 Kyle- Sorry for the confusion regarding the hotel room. Like I explained in my PM, trying to figure out the situation of where I'd stay the night was hell, since until Friday I thought my parents wanted me to drive back to Cookeville, then back to Antioch overnight. Vampire Savior was really cool- I'll look into learning a bit of it in case it's available next time (even if it's just in the arcade for some casuals). But yeah, make it back to Tennessee soon. I'm sure Blazblue still has a character for you. :] LastStar- Dayum, your Noel has gone from good to outright scary. It's clear that you've been not only practicing a lot, but studying the game's raw mechanics in the form of frame data as well. That's something I don't know hardly ANY of. It looks like I'm going to have to step my game up. :3 Really, I'm happy to see you placing so well- third's something to be proud of. And if you think about it, you may have lost to Astaroth, but you beat me, and I beat him. Technically that should net you like second and a half place or something, right? XD I can't wait to face you next tournament. I'll give you a run for your money then, I promise. :] Midnight- ... Did we... play at all? >_>; I don't know how it happened, but we totally didn't. I was hoping to see what kind of new stuff you'd learned as Rachel and Litchi, since I never play either any more. :[ It was cool messing around with stuff at Milln's place though- I hope I wasn't totally boring you/everyone with random, mostly useless stuff about the game. XD Show up to the next MTN and show me what you got! I'll be looking forward to it. Papstr- It's okay, Papstr- everyone has a game they're good at, and maybe Samurai Kirby just isn't one of them. XD Just kidding, of course. Congrats on winning it, and proving that Tennessee has reflexes! Everyone should definitely stop treating you like you're bad at video games now. :D It was a lot of fun talking and hanging at Milln/KO's place and elsewhere, too. Keep on practicing dat Ragna- I want some good mirrors for when you land at TTU! Pickle- OMG THAT COMMENTARY. Thanks for going out of your way to do it- it's going to add a BUNCH of hype to the tourney videos. :D Look into commentating professionally/radio/podcasts/Let's Plays. You have the perfect voice, personality, and whatever else for them. :] Unfortunately, I didn't get to see you play in any Blazblue, but I'm sure you've improved drastically- our casuals online from earlier in the month showed me that. But keep on working at Ragna and dem Astrals. Next time you get another one online I'll sign on immediately and congratulate you on it without you telling me. :3 Seiki- Thanks a bunch man. :D I see you improving all the time, and respect all the work you put into it. I didn't realize how much more work Bang was until I saw you practicing at Milln's house and before the tournament. You easily put more than an hour into perfecting the timing and technique of that one ridiculous Bang combo. I see a true drive in you- one that compels you to always do your best and to train hard. And I know how frustrating it can be to put all that time into something and still come out shorter than expected. But trust me- you're a great player, even though everyone jokes around about "everything making you salty." You're an epic Bang player, and I can feel that you're just moments away from going Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan IRL. Keep up the fantastic work, Naimat. I wanna see you placing well at the next MTN. :] Tad- We didn't really talk much, and I didn't get to see you play at BB either. T_T Vampire Savior was neat, though, and I was serious about getting into Guilty Gear. Maybe next time I'm up we can get in some casuals. :] Show up next time for sure- I'll be sure to play you in something then. :D Volpe- WHERE U AT? Anyone I forgot- Sorry for forgetting you. If you don't have an account/don't post here, I purposefully didn't shoutout to you though. Let me know if I forgot you, you have an account and I didn't know it, and/or you don't have one but know somebody who'd tell me you want one and I'll shoot you a personal shoutout ASAP.

Dat hype. I'll be at the arcade pretty early tomorrow- maybe not 12 on the dot, but probably between then and 1. I know I said I'd enter Melee, but I didn't get half the practice I expected and I don't have as much money as I expected, so I'll have to pass on it. That means I'll be entering MvC3, BBCSII, and Samurai Kirby. I'll do my best to make Tennessee seem not-free. :3 Looking forward to seeing everyone who'll be there tomorrow... Tomorrow. Really hoping to get in some BBCSII casuals then, too, since I know I'll be out of practice before the tourney otherwise. So see you all Sunday, and until then, GET HYPE.

Had some fun games with Astaroth and Naimat, and had fun talking with Milln last night. I've still got some TERRIBLE habits, and I don't know how to properly use Blood Kain combos yet (which seem really important to CSII Ragna), but I'm working on it. If nothing else, I feel like I learned a lot that will help me improve last night, so I'll don't think I'll be TOO free at MWC come Sunday. :3
