  1. Wow, I just realized Cirno, and Corinthatic are 2 different people lol. I always shortened Corinthatic to Corin. For some reason my brain would erase the "thatic" like the it wasn't necessary, and if anything made your name not sound as good as it could be were it just simply Corin. I always looked at the first 5 alphabets of both your names, Cirno and Corin (lol well I had no choice for Cirno), and I just now made the distinction that they are different. Lol, and I just noticed the obvious that 1 is longer than the other. I was like "What the, why does Cirno's avatar keeps changing every now and then". I then decided to look at the name tags again, "Cirno.....Corin....Cirno....Corin.....Wait a sec....Corinthatic..When did Cirno's name get so long?...What the....Cirno, and Corinthatic.....2 different members o_O? :vbang:" hahaha. Anyway, it's a shame that the console version is being delayed to help the portable sales. The only thing stopping me from going on a killing spree to kill time is the fact that top spin 4 will keep me busy untill she arrives. I just hope that we aren't looking at another 2 months after march, which could happen.
  2. Try 2C. iirc I saw it in a vid once. 2C beats her 2D, I think. More plats need to start using her instal items. I mean there are times when they would have won, or stopped a character from playing their game had they used install. They're facing lambda/Mu, and they have rocket/teddy bear/hammer coming up. Instead of them to go install and to completely stop them from zoning, they don't and attempt to get in the hard way. Or when they're facing tager with hammer coming up. You can combo after slidehead, so 16T is perfect for tager and his limited/slow/can only jump once mobility. I've seen so many plats lose rounds they could have won had they gone install. Even the so called install bombs, which have been deemed useless, can be used during combos. Those big boys add a ton of damage. Same for paper fan during combos. Plat can be very dangerous, but the player has to bring out her potential and make use of the right (install) item during the right situation. I'm seeing a lot of missed install opportunities from plats, and this seems to be their main problem.

  5. This is my main gripe with CS2 carl. I love doing combos with multiple nirvana moves. My best being the 4d/volante off 2d/3c starter, and his CS2 combos are boring. Lol, CS2 combos, more like the same solo combo over and over again. No more 2d/volante/4d combos. Sigh. I seriously can't tell the difference from carl #1 and carl #10. They're all playing the exact same way, and a boring style at that imo. I love looking for new strats and resets everytime I watch vids, lol that's the main reason I started that thread, but the only 2 resets you ever see them do in CS2 is [j.2C j.B]xn into 2D unblock or IAD j.2C allecan. ZZZZzzzzzZZZ This is like CT all over again. One trick pony syndrome. I love how you couldn't tell someone how to play CS1 carl. You just had to adapt your own style and find a way to win. CT - throw loop CS2 - starter - cantabile - solo combo - j.C kd - 3D - [j.2C j.B] - 2D unblock/iad j.2C allecan CS1 - ummm, uhhhh There wasn't a universal strat that worked in CS1. His combo variations were vast, and reset potential insane. You just had to know a lot of stuff and use them during a match. This was where a lot of the individual creativity came in. Something that CS2 carl is severly lacking. I'm desperately trying to get hype but once you've seen 1 carl, you seen them all. His combo nerf hit me the hardest. So you're telling me that all we're ever going to do for CS2 is that same solo combo over and over again? Really? I hate the fact that we play carl, and use nirvana every now and then. That's the reason why he looks so boring to me.

Is that what makes it special from all the other install items, guaranteed unblockable damage? Cause right now excaliborg is the most useless install item of the bunch. Also, lol at the fact that you can combo after slide head. 16t hammer is going to be so fun to abuse.
  7. Akira-shiro where are you getting your numbers and combos from? I've gone to jbbs many times, and the highest damaging meterless combos I've seen max out at around 3.2k for practically all her bar. Are you taking CS1 combos and mistaking them for CS2? I would like to see your source.

Lol, I think it's kinda funny. I don't really like him in CS but I kinda like his CS2 counterpart. Also, I probably won't play CS2 carl much, and by much I mean like he'll take up 2% of my time. I'm going to main plat, and carl isn't up to par to even be my sub. That's where haku comes in. I'll go through his trials in CS, lol I haven't yet, and tell you what I think. I'm seeing more variety in CS2 ragna at this point. I'm sorry if you main/sub ragna and feel offended by that sentence. The problem i'm having is that you have no choice but to play that way. You can't say "I'll try and play differently", cause if you even deviate from that gameplan nirvana will run out and you will lose. Yeah, air guardbreaks are completely worthless for carl. Not only is nirvana not going to be in the right place, you'll have to settle for a laughable IAD j.2C allecan 5C j.B j.A j.B dj.B dj.C. Miniscule damage and so much meter wasted, assuming nirvana didn't die in your attempt to guardbreak. Even if she didn't break she'll be damn close to empty. So you settle for crappy damage with nirvana almost dead. Even if she were miraculously in the right place, as kyle said, you wouldn't have the meter to use her for that loltastic 1.8-2.2k damage or oki afterwards. So it's a lose lose situation for him no matter how you look at it. That's right. No more combos with multiple nirvana moves anymore. All those videos: Ambivalent world, high fired combo carl course, etc are all worthless for CS2. Not only is the fact that he's averaging 1.8-2.2k and MAXING OUT at 3k laughable, but because of how small her meter is his entire game is 10x weaker. Correct. That's exactly what I told Akiro in the Tactical discussion thread. Why use him when everyone else is so much better? I'm seeing noel/mak/jin/lambda/etc getting huge damage off random things. They don't rely on a meter source for offense/defense/damage. He has nothing to offer right now. Carl's game opens up once you've hitconfirmed, but you don't have the meter to zone/approach, sandwich, pressure, hitconfirm, and attempt resets or go for big dmg. She'll run out in your attempt to take her across the screen. Nirvana has practically become a tool that you turn on every now and then. As kyle said, she's only used to approach (even his approach is weak now) and for oki (which is also weak cause you don't have the meter to pressure afterwards). Marisa and kyle practically summed up what I didn't clarify in my first post: Everything you attempt to do (such as coming up with new strats) will revovle around how little meter she has, and because of this you will have to revert to a (linear) playstyle that maximizes her meter for the most (loltastic) damage. This new playstyle will have to be one that revolves around a loop ([cantabile -j.C kd-3D-[j.2C j.B]xn-reset-hitconfirm]xn) that can be recycled over and over again. Any deviation from this loop, ([cantabile -j.C kd-3D-[j.2C j.B]xn-reset-hitconfirm]xn ground loop - reset - ground.....) will put nirvana to sleep. The loop is also based on the ideal that every time you attempt a reset your opponent doesn't block/avoid it and you hitconfirm (which we all know isn't going to happen), so as to limit any further need to pressure and further waste her meter. That's why [every hitconfrim goes into cantabile into j.C kd into 3D into [j.2C j.B]xn into reset attempt into hitconfirm into cantabile into j.C kd into...]xn, all the while you're averaging 1.8-2.2k. Also, you better hope that your opponent isn't decent at blocking, cause if they even block 1 of your reset attempts nirvana will break soon after, and you better be ready to "pressure" with solo carl. lol, learn those 5A 2A 5A 2A 5B 2B 5C "pressure" strings. Kyaku already switched to platinum, and I don't blame him. If you want to win against competent opponents, Carl is not worth it in CS2. I too will mostly be playing plat as I don't like his new rinse wipe repeat gameplan, tacked in with the frustration of not having enough meter and dealing lackluster damage when I do get in. I'll still come here to try and help out, but I don't think anything will be discovered to improve his game. Her meter isn't going to get better over time. Everything will always revolve around her meter, and because of this he will have to be linear.

At this point, I'd rather lose the 3D oki if they gave him back his CS1 meter. I don't even care about the damage anymore. I'd lose the oki if he got the meter back to be creative again :/. 3D oki isn't even that good since her meter is so small. You are forced to abuse 3d [j.2C j.B]xn to maintain her meter. I really don't see myself playing CS2 carl that much. The creativity he had has been reduced to revolve around the 3D [j.2C j.B]xn gimmick. The character with the most freedom in blazblue has become a one trick pony. EDIT I also noticed that the amount of stun on CH 5C has been greatly reduced. Even if you're 2ft away your opponent will recover in time to block 5B.
  16. Also Zoogs, we aren't complaining that we "can't be reckless", it's that you don't have the meter to make your opponent scared. All you have to do is block for a few seconds against him, he'll stop and attempt to "pressure" with solo carl cause she'll die, and that's your opportunity to wreck him. It's such an easy strat. The "5-8k without needing to stop to let nirvana heal" is assuming that right when they neutral to avoid 3D pickup you immediately hitconfirm afterwards. So the 1.8k combos eventually add up to 5k. That's the problem, the people in the vids fell for iad j.2C allecan all the time right after 3D. You won't come close to 5k if your opponent knows how to block, and you won't have the meter to pressure either. So you'll be stuck with solo carl and be free for your opponent to do what they want until she recharges I hope I'm not coming off as all gloom and doom, it's just right now his design is flawed and I'm trying to understand how we can make this "low meter, low damage" combo work, but I can't think of anything.

As much as I hate to be a bearer of bad news, once again, I agree with Zeero. -Zoogs, we aren't worried about what could be found out later, potential resets/strats/etc. We are talking about a problem that will plague him for the rest of CS2. Nirvana's meter and his damage. Her meter isn't going to get bigger over time, and, as zeero said, you aren't going to see those 3k combos, till the very end of a round to guarantee the win, cause it isn't worth it mid-round. Conserving her meter is greather than damage, especially when she requires 15 seconds to recharge after she breaks and has so little meter to use to begin with. This also affects the new resets/strats/etc cause you have to conserve meter and can't just use one after the other to keep your opponent guessing. The carls are taking so many pauses in between everything and trying to pressure with solo carl (like he has any pressure by himself) because of this. -I too also agree that the setups after 3D haven't been impressive. Once again the people just didn't know how to block and the carls have won out of their opponents ignorance. Heck in 95% of the vids they don't hit nirvana. It's like they don't even realize she's there. -His potential off 3D pickup, although good, is hindered by nirvana's meter. People tech at the right time to avoid it. The problem is now carl has to pressure, but with what meter? You can't pressure for long either. I'm not saying you could pressure for forever in CS1, but nirvana lasted long enough to keep your opponent guessing for a while, and when you did hitconfirm, even if her meter wasn't much, you could still deal worth while damage. All 3D does is give him oki, but what good is that if you can't pressure cause nirvana will die on you. -Even with having to use cantabile to extend combos, she doesn't even get much back. By the time you do 3D, and assuming your opponent blocks it or their tech nullifies it, once you start pressuring and use 6D once you would have lost the little you gained back. So in the end you have to try and do so much solo carl stuff, but solo carl can't do anything. Infact going on solo carl missions is a fast way to guarantee a loss. Imo, 99% of the carl vids we've seen so far don't really show anything. The opponents of the carl players didn't even know how to fight carl. They fell for iad j.2C allecan too much. It was so obvious that the carl player would do it, and they just sat there and did nothing about it. Also, why aren't they attacking nirvana again? If anything, the carl players have played much better than their opponents, and even then they still came close to losing. The matches in this vid, show what happens when people atleast have an idea/a bit of experience. The bang seemed to just be running around the place, but that match shows what happens when carl tries to keep rushdown characters out. If you want to use nirvana as defense, she'll break. The bang also has nothing to fear, cause if carl hitconfirms "lol 1.8k". Eventually she ran out and he almost lost the first round. Mu vs carl was already a bad matchup now it looks to be 8-2. In the second round, the Mu showed a point that I've been trying to get across for so long now: What happens when you face someone that actually knows how to block? What meter do you have to pressure - hitconfirm - solo combo - 3D - pressure again - hitconfirm -etc? You don't. That 2nd round showed this. Once she blocked his stuff, the carl was done for by default. He realized she was dead and tried to, lol, "pressure" with solo carl. If that were CS1 he would have still had plenty meter to make her guess some more. The mu, ara, haz, tao matchups just got worse. It was hard enough to catch them even in CS1 and you used nirvana like crazy. Now in CS2 it'll be almost impossible. What we've seen won't work on the top players. The carls have won out of their opponents lack of matchup knowledge and not knowing how to block. Eesuke, kyaku, acho-carls, (good carls in general) etc vs kaqn, buppa, dora, galileo, tsujikawa, shounen, (good opponents who know the matchup and how to block and tech throws) etc would be a better representation of how effective he can/cannot be. Those are the vids I'm personally waiting for.
  18. -After watching the vids, the main problem he's having is damage. I mean i see them carls do all that stuff, and mak/jin/noel/etc just run up and get 3k minimum off every hitconfirm. Since she dies faster you have to rely on usinig solo carl so much. That's the reason for his low damage. Rushdown characters are going to have so much fun with him. Nothing wrong in decreasing her meter, but giving him low damage too? Thinking that 3D will be his saving grace? Low damage and CS1 meter, or high damage and CS2 meter. Not low damage AND CS2 meter, that's just too much. -His reset game also seems weaker. You have no choice but to use solo carl and combo into 3D to let nirvana recharge. This means that after you hit confirm in sandwich rather than attempt a reset, like before, you have go through the process of pressuring again after 3D and attempting to hit confirm again. You could skip that process and go straight for a reset but since she dies so quickly that would be a terrible idea unless you're sure you'll win with the follow up combo. On paper the whole "solo combo into 3D into solo combo again into 3D" sounds nice, but when the damage is so low, and she dies so quickly it makes for a bad combination. -In CS1 iirc it took her 10 seconds to recharge fully after she broke. Now it takes her 15 seconds. Lol, better hope she doesn't break on you. -Is it just me or does it take longer for her to start recharging?
  19. His mixup has been weakened because nirvana dies faster. You can't pressure/mixup for long anymore like you could in CS1. So you have to hitconfirm quickly or she'll run out, unlike mak/jin/noel/etc who don't abide by this rule. With lower damage, you're also rewarded less too when you finally hit confirm. So she dies faster and you have lower damage. Like I said why use him when you can use others and yield more reward for less? Don't forget mak/jin/noel/etc get to pressure for free. They don't need any meter for offense/defense/damage, and when they hitconfirm their damage is constant. In CS1 you can get 5.5k meterless off 3C/2D with carl, but nirvana has to have enough meter for you to deal that 5.5k. 5B from makoto will always yield 4k minimum, 6C from jin 5k (just tossing out number), etc. So why use him and work for 1.5-2k when I can get around 2.8-3k MINIMUM off everything? If he got 1.5-2k easily then that wouldn't really be a problem, but to waste that much meter to get in and only get that much when you connect?
  20. You have to look at the character when it comes to comparing damage across the board. Zong is right, carls damage is very low. His reliance on nirvana for everything is the reason why his damage should be higher. How much damage he can deal is dependent on how much meter she has. You also have to factor in the fact that he needs her for zoning, defense, and pressure (everything). He also takes time to set up. Why don't I just use jin/mak/noel/tsu/tao/lulzy ara/etc where all I do is simply run up and attack, and get 3k minimum off every hitconfirm. For free without reliance on anything. No need to approach slowly or worry about whether I'll have enough meter to defend/pressure/deal damage. Just run up and start my game. Heck even lambda is dealing more damage easier than carl. That's a bad sign. The main problem he's having is that he is getting out damaged too easily by everyone. Why use him and go through all that work when you can do less work and attain more damage with a different character? Also, plat's damage is actually really good. She can get 4k easy in the corner, and I'm not even talking about her loli install combos that the japanese haven't even used yet and will find out later.
  21. lmao, so sorry mac. I was so busy getting ready for my twin brother's college graduation. I drove all the way from sugar land to san antonio, 3hrs 45mins, 2 days ago. I helped him pack all this stuff today, woke up early at like 6.30am, and we just arrived in sugar land, it's like 8.10 pm, right now. I haven't really been online in the past 2-3 days cause of him. I checked for stuff quickly on DL before I left sugar land, but I didn't reply to anything. I'm tired from all the packing and lifting we did today, and the 4hr drive we just got through. I haven't even taken a shower cause we had so much to pack and cleaning his place up was a bitch. I will reply to you tomorrow when I have the strenght. So sorry I couldn't reply in san an, he already cut off his cable and internet before I got there so I couldn't go online at all until I returned.

  23. Dolls and cute loli slumber party, rotfl. Lol, cs2 carl is sounding like rachel, working hard but getting out damaged by everyone. That thing I posted from jbbs that someone said "So much effort, not efford reward", would suck. You already work hard enough with him, so to not be able to keep up in the damage department and nirvana dieing so quickly......that could bring some serious problems. I need to seem him vs rushdown and other zoners, besides haku, to see how how he fairs up. I mean, going through so much trouble to zone and trap and rely on nirvana's meter for everything only to max out @ like 3.2k then have to pause to recharge, and seeing jin/noel/mak/ara getting 4k constantly just by running up an attacking is going to be rage inducing.
