Skye Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Vice is the (wo)man! Axis don't know what he's talking about.
A.X.I.S. Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 :(She's my favorite KOF girl and 2nd favorite KOF character(behind Iori). She's insane and crazy strong for such a small chick too. I tend to go for female fighters in most games myself. I pretty much never main a manly man. i preffer every kof girl but her, i never touched her...ever. Vice is the (wo)man! Axis don't know what he's talking about. you want chunli off sf4 don't talk.
Soothesayer Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Vice is a cool gal but we've digressed enough, and it seems my earlier question won't be answered...so yeah, back on topic. I already answered I believe, though there is one thing regarding choosing BB mains that I wanted to ask GG players: did you guys originally go for a character that you thought would play closest to your GG main?
Konner Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Vice is a cool gal but we've digressed enough, and it seems my earlier question won't be answered...so yeah, back on topic. I already answered I believe, though there is one thing regarding choosing BB mains that I wanted to ask GG players: did you guys originally go for a character that you thought would play closest to your GG main? Chipp/Pot player here... Heard JIGANTIKU TAGA BUSUTA using Tager for the first time, and it stuck. Couldn't find any other character I honestly liked.
Skye Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 you want chunli off sf4 don't talk. o yeah well u want bridget
DS-D Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Vice is a cool gal but we've digressed enough, and it seems my earlier question won't be answered...so yeah, back on topic. I already answered I believe, though there is one thing regarding choosing BB mains that I wanted to ask GG players: did you guys originally go for a character that you thought would play closest to your GG main? well, i was thinking about that before i started playing. some people would talk about how BB characters are variants of GG characters. like how ragna is a variant of sol, etc. since i used to use chipp, i thought this theory would apply to bang. after finding that he didn't, i thought i'd give ragna a try. i was mostly influenced by videos i saw beforehand. i mostly fell in love with his blood kain super and his astral XD. later on i settled for the more fluid movements of jin =)
Irikarul Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Did you guys originally go for a character that you thought would play closest to your GG main? The closest thing I ever had to a main in GG (I borrowed AC from a friend for a week or two, so I admit I suck at it) was Millia, and Carl doesn't really play anything like her. Technically, Jin has similar moves to her (icecar/haircar and 5C/lust shaker come to mind), but I don't like using him as much for some reason. I suppose I lean more towards characters with quick moves, but not too fast or all over the place, like Taokaka. Character designs also take a part in it, as I love characters with creative movesets and odd weaponry.
ThePretender Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Going by that train of thought, I figured "Hey, might use Ragna or Jin since I play Sol and Ky!" Never picked up Jin because I don't like the character, his design or his Drive, and I picked Bang over Ragna once I saw how manly and hot-blooded Bang was.
Locke815 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 To be more precise, I don't mind female characters in fighting games too much. Its the way they are protrayed in the games by gamers that I don't like. Some players sometime don't main their female characters base on their designs(like clothes, personality) or how they play and just picked them because they are girls. I don't want to generalize, but some gamers I met or seen on forums are just pervy people and play only female characters for their sexyness or cuteness and not their unique designs. Also, I would prefer Nu to have normal pants and shirt if she was male.
CrescentSaber Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Well I played Jam and Dizzy in GG mainly because Jam's fighting style was awesome and Dizzy just looked like fun to play as. It's pretty much the same in BB. I picked Noel as my main because of her fighting style and Litchi pretty much the same. V-13 and Rachel I picked up later because well I love their character designs and V-13 has dimensional swords which is awesome. Rachel is a vampire that has control over wind and lightning. Yeah nuff said.
Xianio Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Well first off; hello people, been checking these forums for a bit but just made an account today. Personally I picked Tager mostly because magnitism + grappling seemed like an awesome idea and is hilarious when it works well. That and I'm really not into anime in any way and I Tager uses the fewest conventions from that style.
Twin Rhapsody Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 I picked my main Tao, because I've always been a fan of high-risk, high-reward characters. Character's that have to take chances always draw my attention.
-1c3- Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I have a thing for the ice "element"* (dates back to a nickname in high school), so I picked Jin from the very first trailer. It also helped that Lust SIN ended up being my favorite song in BlazBlue (and still is). *Ironic given that Sol was my character in Guilty Gear.
Chris Chaos Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I started Playing with Ragna since I got a good preview of how he plays before I played the game and was impressed. After I got the game, I moved to Jin and liked the way his combos flow, his air combos and the way you can juggle Jin off opponents is quite awesome, So I mained Jin. Now I'm bored with him and Now I play Bang more than anyone else, even though my card says Jin/Ragna, though I occasionally play them both once in awhile.
Edge Reaper Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I knew as soon as I started playing that Ragna would be the character I used most. Eventually I started picking other characters just to see if I could adapt to them, but I always kept coming back to Ragna anyway. The closest one to being mained besides him was Hakumen, but that's because he's a ****ing badass.
aldouswright Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Pressure, learning curve and difficulty of execution were my criteria. Pressure game is a must since I play like bull in a china shop so I picked up Litchi.
Zura Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 What I usually do: Start using the simple/box cover character (Ragna) to learn the basics of the game, then move on to whoever just seems like my style (Quick and aggressive). Hence Bang.
Ducky Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I used Baiken from GGX to present, and chose Bang because he seemed like a similar character. I tend to like Ragna a little more, but whatever...
Pantsukon Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I like close range/mid range. I put defense above speed, and attack while being on the defensive. And I like well calculated attacks that works if the opponent attack you at the right moment, they're really fun to use. So yeah, Hakumen was quite an easy pick.
kilabeep3 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I like rushdown characters in my fighting games. I like flashy combos, high risk and high reward. Also I have a thing for ninjas. Just look at my mains in most games. Sf guile the combo machine. Mvc spider man and stider fast and aggressive Mvc2 strider doom and spidey ( iron man sometimes) shit all over the screen. GGX chipp .quick fast dangerous and deadly. BB .....take a wild guess......if you guess wrong...ya mamma dawg ..ya mama!
Achtzehn Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Kinda funny how I picked my main in BB. I remember reading up on all the characters a bit before going to CTF to play the game. I had decided to try out noel and nu, who I figured would be my mains. When I finally sat down and played, I started out with noel, and basically didn't know about the different control setup... So all I was doing was mashing drive lol. However there was one match, where I faced the AI tager. He landed one 720 on me, and my mind was blown at the damage. Shortly after that I tired nu, with the second control scheme (thinking it was a different fighting style not button layout haha), and was shocked to see the giant object behind her transform into her suit of swords. Ironically I mashed drive with noel, and mashed C with nu. Shortly after getting home I picked up BB for the PS3 and immediately tried out tager. After that I fell in love, and continue to love him to this day. Who says you can't mix love and science?
YanagiYoruko Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Carl was really my first choice, but I wanted to pick a beginner-friendly character (I've never played games before). My anime club friends all recommended either Jin or Noel, and Jin's storyline and character design appealed to me a lot more. I also looked up videos, and I liked the idea of being able to freeze my opponents, so why not? Still a beginner though, but I do plan on making Jin my main, despite the abundance of Jin players around...
Albireo Cygnus Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I tend to like playing as the main character of a fighting game, since I have a feeling they'll be the most balanced stat-wise. Looking cool is also a factor, so I main Ragna.
smooshman Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I like stoics, I like psychos, I like jerkasses who couldn't give a damn about everything, where very few things a personal... guess who I main
uCookie Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I was walking around Gamestop last year of October 2009. I saw BlazBlue LE. I bought it on impulse thinking it would be a good game for my cousins and myself to play when we get together for whatever reason (and I was staying at my cousin's place for the season). My cousin and I tried out all the characters. We really liked the game. He mained Jin. I'm a rush-down kind of guy so I had originally loved Ragna, Litchi, and Nu. -Rachel was too awkward, I couldn't figure her out -I suck at 720/360 motions so Tager was out despite me loving his character design and his attacks -Bang was uh... a ninja? >_> Hotblooded ninja? Cool, but not my style -Jin, meh, ice car -Tao just was just... too hyper @_@ -Arakune, wtf? I thought he was like, bottom tier because I couldn't figure out how to do anything with him at all -Carl, I saw his immense potential but I didn't want to be like him and then he ended up being a counter trap or something like that, I dunno, I even had a d-pad scheme just to play him, I moved D to one of the shoulder buttons so I could hold D whenever I needed to and still easily press the other attack buttons -etcetc However, the more I looked at the game the more I fell in love with Nu. I mean, she was just wicked cool looking. Robotic, had a freaking bankai! xD Had swords floating behind her, had a blade attached to the end of her hair, had blades on her hands, her legs were just so damn sexy with that edge running right down them, and then the mono-eye V eye just sealed the deal. After about two days of maining Ragna I switched to Nu. Did I mention I love her robotic voice? Extinction. Everything... disappear! System startup. Why do you still stand? Even her Japanese voice was loveable. Muda. Hajimari to owari. So yeah... I mained Nu despite sucking at her play style. >_>
