I go for characters whose design i like. I dont particularly care about the gameplay itself. I just pick the one i like the best and then train in order to become profficient with it, not matter

how hard or easy to use it is.

It was Baiken for GG, Hakumen for BB and Ken since SF2 came out.

For me it was a mixture of things, as I started off playing Jin first because I liked his design and play-style as he remined me so much of Ky when I first saw him. Which in turn lead to play Haku-men as the idea of being able to counter pretty much everything in the game and that fact Haku is Jin so switch over wasn't that hard. However that doesn't mean it was the best choice as I messed around with the whole cast for a bit, people such as Haz which felt like a good change but it's down to messing with the game and forming a opinion about every memeber of the cast then picking from there.

Well, after playing some Storymode (When all i did was button mash) and I discovered Rachel, I thought her character and appearance was awesome, so i gave her a shot and I sucked at first. Then i started looking at online guides on how to use Rachel and some basic principles, and I got the basics down. After that, I had tons of fun playing with Rachel (And sucking on online play)

Although after awhile, I started to get bored with Rachel, so i thought i would freshen things up. Afterawhile, I mastered the basics of Litchi, Makoto, Noel, and Tsubaki, so those are the characters I'll probably use the most and as Mains.

On another note, I decided I would also try and work on Carl to.

Long story short, I practiced with characters until I found playstyles that like/enjoyed and felt natural to me.

Huh. Can't believe I never made a post here.

Anyway, I have a tendency to gravitate towards characters who look the coolest, so at first I used Hakumen because he's a badass cyborg samurai motherfucker with a ginormous-ass sword and counters. However, later on down the line I felt I needed a change of pace. Some friends of mine suggested I pick up Bang, and I've stuck with him ever since. I originally didn't want to play him because I heard he was the game's joke character, but boy was I wrong. And so began my fantastic journey of spreading love, justice, and the low-tier ninja way to BlazBlue XBL.

In CS I played around a bit with Hazama and Valkenhayn, but then CS2 came out and fucked up not only the system, but also all of my characters (Hazama got stronger but also a lot harder, and CS2 Valk and Bang are just LOL). When I got Extend I hoped to learn Relius but he felt really limited.

Now with the inevitable console release of Chronophantasma, I'm looking forward to Azrael, and perhaps Bullet Izayoi.

Freedom and style; pretty much what I search for in every game ever.

Always look for the character who can have the best of both worlds in the fanciest of packages.

It doesn't get much closer to my ideal fighting game character than Hazama(well...MvC3 Dante is up there too, but I actually enjoy BB in it's entirety; not exclusively for one ridiculously awesome character in a team of 3).

The same lovely snakes that help him to pin people down also allows him to be wherever he wants, whenever he wants.

The only way most chars can reach the same heights that Hazama hangs around at are if he's kind enough to Houtenjin them up there for a sec before they come plummeting back to earth for a full combo.

Nearly unparalleled mobility; the ability to zone people out with chains and rush them down when it suits him; and to top it all off, he's criminally smooth.

Love the characters that make everything look effortless. Hazama's more worried about his fedora falling off than whatever his opponent's doing, and every single attack he makes just feels like he's toying with them(usually with appropriately trollish lines to match). The fact that BB actually has a legit story mode with shockingly decent dialogue certainly doesn't hurt either. It's nice to see more of a character's personality than whatever pittance you normally get with fighters. It helps to flesh things out, and get you more attached to a character, which motivates you to want to learn them even more.

...Well, at least for me it does. After 100% in Continuum Shift, all I could think was 'Must. Become. Master troll.'

...Course, I'm probably still the worst Haz in the world, but hell; I'm trying! Determination, if absolutely nothing else. *shrug*

If I like the design of the character I play him/her. Hakumen all the way! Cyber samurai? Be still my beating heart. I like samurai and Hakumen just kicks ass. Plus I like to learn and vary up my playstyle. Often times I will get impatient and rush in so characters like Makoto are what I like as far as gameplay goes, but I saw Hakumen and thought the loops/counters were cool. So I picked him and slowly put more time into him and developing my gameplay experience. The first BlazBlue character I picked, I was reading up on the wiki about the game since I had seen it before and saw the design and liked it a lot.

I was playing Ragna since CT because he was the character I liked the most both gameplay & story-wise , but recently I've switch to Bang. Why ? Because he's a badass motherf*cker with a giant nail on his back , and he's hype. OH ! And he got the hypest Astral ahah ! So Bang is my main right now and he's here to stay ! ( Except if my future Taokaka is looking great. )

Tao has been my main since CS1. Something about her was just so... adorable. Then I switched to Platinum when she came out, buuuut I was horrible with her. So I switched back to Tao and actually got better in my absence. Strange.

Iron Tager because my mechanics are trash, and I can't memorize long combos. Basically, I suck.

I'm winning way more with him than I would with any other character. :D

I pick whoever looks cool/I like. And they end being the right ones for me 100% of the time. Just like every other fighter.

Hence why I picked Arakune and Taokaka. (The Insane/Awkward/Somewhat funny one and the Funny/cute one)

However, Arakune fits my playstyle a lot more than Tao does so he is my main (Bait/Keep away/Expose opponent's reaction to my actions), but Tao is a lot easier to use FOR SOME REASON. :\ Still, I want to get better with Arakune.

My mains are Iron Tager and Relius Clover.

Iron Tager for his fun grappling game and some truly sore moves (been teaching a few tagers how to buster correctly with maybe a few people elbows :3). I tend to like the big power house guys who put out 5 hits with 3/4 of your health gone for it.

Relius Clover for sheer undeniable fun of his play style. In conjunction with Ignis you can do some really fun things while also maybe throwing out some taunts after denying an attempt (often after a 236C>214A). Also, his Astral is by far one of my favourites to land. First time I did it was trolling my friend in practice (he was wanting to see makotos so I slyly activated controller 2 and connect with relius. He attempted, I blocked and I counter astraled XD).

Funny: I actually hated Relius when I heard of what he did...now he is my tied favourite character...go figure XD

I picked jin since i played GG as an adolescent and mained ky. Then ragna since hes the shoto

At first, I heavily mained Rachel because i thought her gameplay was pretty cool, but I've always sucked at actually executing combos and getting out of pressure. Then I started expermenting with other characters such as Lambda, Makoto, Carl, Tsubaki, etc. But in the end, I settled with Noel. Something about her gameplay feels natural to me, her actual combos look awesome. I also like the combination of normals with Chain Revolver for some devistating gameplay. At first I didn't like Noel so much, but as time when on, she's really grown on me. Now Noel's probably my favorite character.

Well, I have a weird way of choosing my main.

At first, I started playing as Noel because I thought she was the best-looking female character. I learned quickly that Chain Revolver was quite powerful at the beginner's level, hence I just played as another drive-spamming Noel player.

However, I decided to branch out and learn a few more advanced combos by watching pro matches (but it's kind of hard to find decent matches with Noel) and through the challenge mode. I've gotten better over the months that I've had the game, and to this day, Noel is still my main.

However, I do have Hazama and Mu-12 as subs.

Before CT was released, I thought I'd likely main Noel. Turned out that I didn't like how she plays, nor did I like any other character's style save for Hakumen. Plus, his moves were the easiest to learn (a big factor since I didn't own a console and played BB only at friends' places). I also loved his CT Japanese voice, since it sounded badass as heck.

At first I mained Rachel b/c I really liked her toolbox and trap zoning. But after awhile Litchi's character gameplay and plot-wise (sucker for tragic heroes) grew on me rapidly and I ended up enjoying her zoning options and high execution requirements more than playing Rachel, which effectively swapped their roles for me as main and secondary.

Posted

My friend brought his copy of BBCS over and I played the tutorial where Rachel is explaining things. I instantly loved her as a character and tried her out but eventually found that her style (most zoners) just didn't fit me. I mained Bang for a while simply out of love for his sheer manliness. Eventually I found that I loved characters that hit hard and got to be creative with their confirms. I loved using Tager's magnetism in his combos and using links and IADs in Hakumen's. Before p4a came out I was maining Tager, but now that I have a better understanding of what I enjoy the most from my characters, I'll be maining Azrael for sure. I still love grapplers but I know that Hakumen and Azrael fit me a little more. Links. Man damage. Fun creative combos with lots of IADs. Man damage.

Can't really explain why, I was hopping all over the roster, and was literally only playing for the story and would mash buttons. Despite the fact I play other fighting games and SC2 competitively. My drive for this game didn't start til recently when I found a few offline players in my area.

The second I bought Mu-12, and messed around with her in challenge mode. For whatever reason I was hooked. I liked the range, on her normals, and zoning options is a plus.

I never really played any sort of fighting game seriously before experiencing blazblue. The first trailer for CT showcased Jin and I knew I had to get the game. Instantly enjoyed playing as the character and the fluid, highly mobile fighting mechanics of blazblue. Jin has been my main ever since.

It was pretty easy since i'm that kind of guy who goes with the flow. Here's how it happened:

/Puts CS in

/"Oh, cool looking opening"

/"Let's see what kinda characters this game has..."

/Goes in Versus Mode

/Looks at Hazama

/O M GEE, THAT GUY HAS SAME HAT AS I DO

And Story Mode made me love him even more. Still my favorite character in Blazblue.
