RockinGamma Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I instantly fell in love with Noel. Lucky for me she turned out to be a mix-up.
Mr.Reddot Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Clicked a few gameplay videos of the chars that interested me in terms of looks. It resulted in Haz, Mu, Jin and Makoto.
CrescentSaber Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I started with Noel due to her fighting style but then instantly fell in love with Tsubaki when Continuum Shift came out. Been a Tsubaki main ever since.
UTMShadowAngel Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I was shown this game a while back and I found Platinum The Trinity, she was a loli, so naturally I was going to go to her right away...however, I found myself getting the game for the PS Vita and played story mode and found who was "Girl in black dress" at first, her accent and the way she spoke screamed for me to get my hands on her as well. I'm still learning ways to play as Rachel and Platinum, but I also picked up on Ragna the Bloodedge because I think it's a great pairing. But I'm sticking with Rachel until the end.
BoltofShadow Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I did a few story modes and loved Jin's personality and development instantly. Plus he's pretty quick on the draw too and I love sword characters. Hazama because....he's Hazama.
Grimsley-San Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) I like exploring the roster a lot to try to learn each character in the game. Edited September 27, 2013 by Grimsley-San
Pen_Ninja Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Puppet characters are badass! Carl was an insta-choice here. I also play Eddie and Shadow Labrys, not surprisingly enough
Death Wombat Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Rachel won me over with being overly cute as well as the fact everything she said put a smile on my face (main reason why I always stick with the english voices). Tie that in with an electric frog that trolled my friends every time I fought them. I fell in love really quickly. Well now that Kokonoe has been announced however....I may change my main
Rhiya Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 At first, I played Tsubaka because charge cancelling reminded me of whiff cancelling in Melty. Then, she got nerfed into the ground, so I tried Relius, since he was new and vaguely reminded me of Liese, who I played in Arcana. Finally, I realized I got tired of dealing with people's shit on oki, switched to Litchi, and had more fun with the game ever since. I'm very gameplay-oriented when it comes to picking characters, and I consider it miraculous when I can play my favorite character and enjoy their playstyle. That miracle happens in Melty (Akiha is amazing, and CVAki is one of the best-feeling characters I've ever played), so I love playing it. In BB, my favorite character is Rachel, bar none, but her exec is just not up my alley, and playing her doesn't feel as good as playing Litchi (because the okizeme is just so fucking good).
TheMajestikOne Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Hakumen was my first choice when CT came out way back when. I liked the character but I wound up not playing as much because I was a scrub 09'er lol. Makoto caught my attention in CS but I got into that pretty late and didn't want to get the DLC. I got my hands on Extend and didn't really like Makoto that much but I chose Valkenhayn in the end. Don't know if I'll main him in CP though... Izayoi has that swag.
Appledash- Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I picked whoever I thought looked coolest. Which means Noel because gun kata. But since I don't own CP yet I also really like Rachel and Tsubaki. I suppose it would be a better idea to choose based on gameplay. But I've never had to resort to that. Except in Guilty Gear. My execution isn't good enough for I-no. :/ Anyway, normal people shouldn't pick mains in such shallow fashion. Unless it makes you happy.
Martian Buddy Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Generally my method for picking mains in fighting games is to jump into training or challenge mode and just messing around with everyone until I find someone who feels comfortable. The sad effect of this is usually the characters I pick end up being either middle or low tier. Otherwise if I can't find someone who fits I'll just default to the local grappler character. Never been able to resist playing grapplers
Master Of Chaos Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I look at character who I think ether have a kickass theme or whom I enjoy in the story, then mess around a little bit to see if I like em.
thiz Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) Had to edit, because I'm the most undecisive person I know. Edited October 20, 2013 by thiz
Axl77765 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I remember my first time playing BB was back at a tourney for CS1 some people in my old high school were doing, and I went Noel for the first match and won with a Astral without even knowing what I was doing. Next match, I went to Mu for some dumb reason and just got wrecked, although I liked how she looked. When I got my own copy of CS1, I just sped through story mode to get Mu so I could practice, and I've stuck with her since. Mostly picked up Ragna in Extend due to a friend of mine that I go against a lot playing Ragna, and he taught me how to play as him. My story for mains, although my preference for a character is to have versatility in what they can do, like Mu with good close range potential along with decent zoning.
Adsfzxczxc Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 The very first time I tried blazblue, I immediately went to the training mode and looked for the coolest/most attractive person. Sadly, at that time, all the designs looked so weird and so I went with the most "normal" which was Noel. I also tried Tsubaki as well, but the combo changes from CS2 to CSX put me off. I ended up just choosing the characters that fun gameplay mechanics with out being overly difficult as BB was my first real fighting game, and ended up choosing 3 robot girls Though I still can't figure out which of the 3 that I like better.
Luminos564 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 A main? I've been looking for one in Blazblue since CT. I played Haku-men primarily from CT to Extend but I've never been any good with him. I've since stopped playing him since I want to better myself as a player and tried Mu-12. But since the 3 newest characters (Terumi, Kokonoe and Kagura) have been revealed, I've been questioning if Mu-12 was the right decision. I guess whenever I get CP, I'll need to start from scratch again...

But since the 3 newest characters (Terumi, Kokonoe and Kagura) have been revealed, I've been questioning if Mu-12 was the right decision. I guess whenever I get CP, I'll need to start from scratch again... I almost had the same problem. When I bought my first BB I played Bang, he was funny and versatile but he wasn't my type of char and I wasn't good enough with him, at that time I wasn't even able to do the DP motion on my stick. Then they announced Relius, when I saw how he worked, I just fell in love with him and Ignis. I bought BBCS EX from US and I tried to play but he was so difficult, more difficult than Bang. However he was perfect for my style, because I love Chars that control mid range game with good normals, even w/o a DP. So I put at least 1 month only to synchronise his moves with Ignis ones. I was training again and again. Alongside with him, I started playing Tsubaki and I get better with her faster and I was able to do great stuffs, amazing combos but I just wanted to play Relius. I put so much time with him and watched many videos, even started chatting with some amazing Relius players on twitter (lol) that I understood how he works and was able to play him correctly. I should say that Tsubaki helped me to become a better player. Mu-12 is my last char, I just love the way she fight and I tried her in order to deal with Arakune and Tager online, now she is my second main. She is so good and I don't think I will drop her unless they announce Jubei. Sorry for the story, but what I am trying to say is 1) understand what style you are good or better at (Rushing/mid range and space control/zoning and long range/ or both of these features). We are lucky that Blazblue have all these types of chars and even Chars with many of these features. 2) Look for a character you like or love even before he comes out (Me for example, it is Kagura and I am trying to figure out how he works and I already played many charge chars) because it is easier to understand and learn a character you love. It is funnier and you will like to put more time with him in the lab and figure new stuffs. BTW if you like many chars, you can try them all and figure who is your best and start with him, you will learn others later. 3) Try to learn the max of your character, you have to almost completely understand the way to play him or her. Analyse matchups, find new roads of combos, learn all about frames (if you want to be good with him), read forums about him... If you are interested in a new char, learn about him and try him when the game comes out but first of all you need to understand what is your fighting style. For example, Rush down = Terumi, Zoning and setups = Kokonoe and Mid range and some footsies = Kagura. So make your choice, I also want to remind that you also have Azrael, Amane, Bullet and Izayoi to choose between the new chars. Edited September 27, 2013 by FatalCounter
Kenrou.Horo Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I switch mains every iteration. CS1 - Litchi CS2 - Taokaka/Bang CSE - Bang/Makoto CP - Makoto

I've been bogged down with the transition from Haku-men to Mu-12 and lack of progress that I generally had no idea what to look at. Perhaps I should look at it from when I played P4A, where I felt right at home with Elizabeth: a gimmicky character that can dish out a crud-ton of damage if given the right situation. Trouble is, that was P4A. In BB I like quite a lot more characters (including Azrael and Bullet) so I suppose I'll have to take a "trial and elimination" period until I find that main and/or sub.
- Stasis - Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Due to me not having access to a computer, I didn't find out about Blazblue Calamity Trigger until it was two months before console release - A friend said he couldn't wait for "Blazblue" and I had no idea what he was talking about, so when I got to a computer it was first thing I search for. There was a video of Haku(black) vs Litchi(purple), instant orgasm! I knew right there that I would become a follower so I did more research on the game. My first pick was Litchi. I mean, I couldn't resist a sexy female with a fighting style that has never been in any fighting game (at least the ones I've played), but at the time I was lacking enough skills to pull off her combos consistent. My next options were Noel, Bang, and Haku. Haku's character design was so cool, but his fighting style wasn't something I was in to - at the time he was too slow and I liked speedy/flashy character, so I decided to go with Noel. Noel was my BB waifu for the entire duration of CT and boy were they're a lot of us in the beginning. Then.. I found out CS arcade version was announce, adding new characters and a few changes to the game mechanics. Saw some Hazama footage and man he had so much swagger, I had to try him once the CS console version release, and Mu's ass :O. So yeah, I spam them day 1 Drive into mashing J.C that pissed everyone off in CS, lol. I like Hazama, he was so much fun to play, but he never made me feel complete. My skills had improved and I still wanted to play Litchi. CS2 got announce, my execution was ready, my body was ready. It was time to learn the boobie lady! My Xbox doesn't approve, I got the RRoD and missed out on most of CS2. Around the time I switch to PS3, MvC3 was coming out in full force, no one could ignore the hype. BB fell off my radar for awhile. When I came back I didn't have the will to learn Litchi anymore and got over her. It really sucks that I gave up on her, as she will always be the character I wanted to play in BB the most. I finally decided to learn Haku - his fighting style had change so much with each new version of BB that the more I saw him fight the more I started to like his style. I'm learning things with him atm, but I can say that i feel complete with him as my main, and CP Haku looks insanely fun with all the new tools and sick options. I can't wait to play him in CP and I'll also be playing Izayoi as my secondary character. Hell, If I like her enough she might even be able to switch places with Haku, lol. TLDR: CT - Noel CS - Hazama CS2 - Litchi CSEX - Haku CP - Haku & Izayoi
Henjin Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hazamas trolling got me to main him first. 12 months playing that bastard straight before i moved on to another character. Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk now Free
greatfernman Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Tager now and forever. It's all about the huge, slow, massive damage dealer.
Nefarious Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 When CT was coming out I was playing a lot of Slayer in GG, so I went with the vampire.
ReynTime180 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Because I share a lot of physical and characteristic traits with my main. for life! I sub Relius because science!
