LunaKage Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Do Vine Combos with Plant Kamui. Derp. Combos aren't the problem, its blocking that wrecks me with Kamui, no ground overhead fucks me up, and the pushback on her moves fucks me up too.
Shiawase Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) Is it just me or is it actually harder to do certain combos in the corner due to the pushback? Edited January 31, 2011 by Shiawase
Narcowski Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Is it just me or is it actually harder to do certain combos in the corner due to the pushback? It's not just you. Lots of combos have slightly different timing in the corner, which is a pain when you want to rely on muscle memory to connect them.

I remember back in the old days, when we'd play SF2, and if the other guy was blocking a lot, we threw him. Other times, we'd fake the throw and hit them. I wonder if that would still work. Protip: it still works

Stay awesome, just stay awesome.

I know of tick throws, I'm not an idiot.
SkyKing Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 OK, finally got my copy in since I did ghetto shipping. I've been itching to play some people, so now I'm good to go. Please, be gentle... :P

This is the exact same problem I have. I wanted to learn her first because I heard she's one of the easier characters, but I'm having a hard time hitting people. I have no idea what to do in blockstrings without using up a bar for HC. I ask for advice on homingcancel and they're like "lol she's pretty basic, just figure out a playstyle that suits you" I think I'll just learn Petra (heard she's REALLY ezmode) or Maori instead since they at least have repeatable As.

I figured I'd go with Heart, she's fast, her combos are fun, and she reminds me alot of Sakura if she were an airdasher character. I'll see how it works out, I don't want to give up on Kamui, but as a beginner to AH I'm not entirely familiar with how I need to handle things yet.

Yo calm down, I'm just saying it sounds like you're auto piloting through strings. Strike / throw is the easiest way to make them move, which leads to mistakes which leads to you winning.

MiraclePizza Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Staggers in this game are very good too so even if you're outside of immediate throw range tick throws are still viable as long as the move they blocked isn't a horrid disadvantage or is something that doesn't gatling into anything useful. The forward/back throws are also pretty hard to break so they're actually more legit mixups compared to BB where you have 11f to break throws (I think even neutral throws in this game are harder to break than BB throws). On top of all that, it's also easier to hit someone out of their jump startup in this game. I don't know exactly how good Kamui's dash speed is though and whether or not that'll affect her tick throw game.

Effenhoog Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Wind Scharl is awesome. Run around being an annoying zoning character, then when they finally get in on you LOLNOPE PUSHBLOCK BITCH GTFO fortunately she's made out of tissue paper so it's not completely bullshit
