germanturkey Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 yeah, you have an over reliance on her CA, which is pretty horribad. also, don't se 5d to zone unless they're dashing at you. learn to IAD instead of jump then dash. it'll save you a lot of time and distance. also, work on her standard combo finisher which is jdd > dj2dd > j214d. you're doing something like jdd > j2dd so you're dropping it.

Been a Ragna main since CT and a Rachel sub. Dropped Rachel in CS and suddenly decided to learn Lambda after given time. To those who are curious, my performance is all on stick. I watched all of those vids and it does look like you main Ragna cause for the most part of all the fights you tried to fight Noel and Tsubaki close up. You also missed a few BnB's especially when you hit Tsubaki in the air while she was charging. You also looked a little slow you should use Lambda's mobility, swords, and melee attacks to somehow trick your opponent cause she doesn't have that many mixups that aren't easy to block. And like kenja said use those IADs with j.2DD they help a lot. I don't air grab a lot but if it works keep doing it. You could also try some sword pressure that helps also when you mix up 5DD and delay 4DD. If you want to gravity seed into5CxN>236C that really is only guaranteed against Tager and I think i did it against Haku-men one time it all depends on your position when you hit with the gravity seed. Learn those BnB's and try zoning and moving around more you should get better

Getting help from yaya, hellknight, and overheat in the precess of learning her. I'm not great but I think I did fine with the minimal knowledge I have of her. The other three didn't start helping me until now...well only overheat as of now. Overheat Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Very good work. I like how you can bait DP’s, and you used her CA very successfully in some areas. This was just beautiful. Based on what I saw, I think there must’ve been a bit of lag during some areas of those fights. You asked for advice and here’s what you need to work on: - This is really nit-picky of me, but I’d say to work on getting all of her C hits in for maximum damage. - You have to be able to hit-confirm whether or not it is a counter hit. - Also, your block-strings could be more tight, longer, and better. - Mash 5C faster. - The most important thing I think you need to work on are your TK’s (make them lower) and to work on IB’ing and back-dashing/IAD away. Keep it up. You’ve got a lot of promise.
uCookie Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 You people are all too good. >_> I can't even dash or instant air dash at will with my arcade stick.
kenja0 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALocrIfRV0Y The closest we're getting to figuring a matchup against Makoto.
germanturkey Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 that spin under the super was crazy.

That's better then almost all of the Japanese people that play her. If Tao is going to 2A, CH 4B her. If Tao is approaching from the air then 6A/2C depending on timing and spacing. Be on the move as much as you can. Time Gravity Seeds when you feel like she's going to go in real close. Other than that, you didn't make bad decisions to counter her- you just have to react faster and predict her. Remember, in CT, this was Nu's worst matchup- zoning is not a great option against someone of that skill. And don't feel bad, I doubt most of us here (except severin/Xie/etc) could do a lot about that. Dear god... we'll figure this out in the vs Tao thread.

No offense but how crappy are the Taos you play that this one made your jaw drop? All I saw was standard and very solid Tao play, he's a good player and he certainly knows the Lambda matchup that will always be in his favor, which brings me to- Shakugan, Work on your combos ASAP, the outcome of those matches could have been very different if you had managed to optimize your damage, you do know Tao has an hilariously small health bar right? In the second match for example, I saw a throw combo and a 214D (in the corner nonetheless) combo, the former should do just short of 4K while the latter is an easy 6K, and that's already more than her hit points (9500). As for pressure, it's indeed a bit hard to deal with Tao, as always you should try to IB everything and gain decent meter from blockstrings, counter-assaults and IB > DP are very recommended here. Her mix-up game isn't that good either. 6A and 2D her air approach and throw some 214D's to fuck her real hard if she's reckless. NEVER do 236D it sucks hard especially against Tao. By the way, why are you vids on speed? I thought it was just me but after comparing to regular ones I see that your video is running too fast.

Thanks my combo execution isn't what it should be so I will work on that. This was the first time I had played a Tao who was good so I was lost in how to play the match-up. 236d is a bad habit of mine it gets me raped in matches because it starts soo slow, but I like using the move so I tend to put myself in a hole. Also about the video im not sure why, but it becomes dsycned when I upload it too youtube so the sounds off and as for the match, we were just playing that fast. Thanks for the help.

This Tao's defensive game was low, but the player kept their evasiveness up. I can't hardly find any Tao that was both that fast and knew the Taunt loop. Most players I meet base their game off of one or the other. My reaction is also based off my interest- most Tao matches are as boring as hell to watch.
Effenhoog Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I need help with the Taokaka match up any advice? I looked in the match up thread and didn't see any good info. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo-rqJOa48M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhaRfjf_D9s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2J35nVHPNM I don't play enough lately to really comment on the match itself, but I did notice that the Taokaka player dropped his taunt loop combos several times but you didn't recover out of it. Offline it's easy enough to just tap the button along with the predictable rhythm of the combo, but online can obviously be weird sometimes. In that case, you can use the game's repeated 5-frame input and just hold the button down briefly before each hit. You probably already know that, but some people don't so I typed it out anyway.
Hustle Man 77 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Lambda mirror. Goro vs ???http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aorgoTjXJZw (copied from video posting thread in BB General) There's a couple more in that group with Goro.
germanturkey Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 ridiculous mirror that was. hell, all of goro's matches were crazy. i felt bad for that lambda though. trying to out sword goro.
Andru Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Oh god its a gold mine of Goro lambda matches :::::3333
Mr. Kimura Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 I'm gonna have to face the music and post a video up for critique, this video was from a while ago but I have the same problems now, so if you want I'd appreciate the help. I have another I'll upload later but I warn you, its bad. As far as I can tell now I don't nearly zone as much as I should for one.
Hustle Man 77 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Pretty decent combos in this vid (Copied from BB General Video thread)
Sadeyo Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv6WzNDG3-g&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL I don't use Lambda as often as I used to. Much guilt for spamming the 236c yet at one point I figured I get it off twice, guess the input was too slow. Planning to put Ragna on the side for a whole month just to tackle Lambda through December. Hopefully this will give me a better understanding of her instead of hoping for the best. Be rude, be crucial. I'll most likely go back and look into the Lambda challenges again. Last time I did that was possibly August.
Andru Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Needs more 2D and running away against Kune. 6D if spaced right too. Make him scared to go in the air and make his j.D moves miss. More blocking overheads, defense is too important. j.2dd crescent cancel pressure instead of close full crescents Spike chaser is not that good especially if you full charge it. Gives him time to sj and get in on you, you want to keep the distance. I know a lot of Lamb players like to fullscreen needles super on opponent wakeup just to get breathing room (bad habit of mine as well) but all it does is feed them meter. If you must do it at least mix it up. If they don't fall for mixup at least try to take some primers. 4D, 236D, run up TK crescent, etc.By the time they get hit by something they'll take like 1k damage only. I think the 50 meter is better used elsewhere. Like RC combo off those tk crescents you hit.
