The Loli Otaku Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Command Grabs are an amazing Oki tool. Sadly this is true T~T
Diveman Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 It's been a while since I played GG, and I changed my playstyle over the time as well. In persona I play Yukiko/Liz and now I'm trying Rachel in BB. Who should I use in GG now? I heard Testament is kinda like rachel, though Dizzy sounds similar as well.

Dizzy is pretty similar to Yukiko, not so much Rachel though. Dizzy/Yukiko use a very active zoning style. It sounds like Dizzy is what you want, but you might also check out Venom and maybe Axl.

I'm sorta new at Guilty Gear, but to me, Dizzy is pretty similar to Rachel in the fact that Okizeme is going to be a very important part of you're gameplay.
Kujikawa Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I suggest either Rachle or Mu. Both characters revolve around zoning to get the right opportunity to rush down.
InWithTheAshes Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) I can adapt to any playstyle but I usually play characters with good oki and decent/good zoning capabilities or long-ranged normals. Well, if you're looking to play some - body similar to those you generally tend towards, then Dizzy is applicable towards all of those: She has what is probably the game's best oki, excellent zoning (Only Testament may beat her out.) and a noticeable portion of her normals have fine range (5K, 2K, 2P, and 5H, although I'd advise against using the latter as a poke.). If that is indeed what you're looking for, then she would probably be the best option. Edited March 22, 2013 by InWithTheAshes
YukiBlue Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Need P4A Help. Not so much a main, but I need advice on a sub. I'm looking for a rushdown character. I don't really mind execution requirements, but the easier the better. I've currently been dabbling with Yu, Chie and Akihiko. I like the following things: - Okizeme. The stronger the better, honestly. This is a big one. - Good Mixup / Pressure game - Good Normals - High Skill Ceiling Yu is looking like the winner right now. But Chie and Akihiko just look so damn fun. Is Chie > Yu? GOD DAMN MY BRAIN IS FRIED

I find it kind of strange that you're asking for a character with easy execution but high skill ceiling, I'm not sure what that means, but Chie fits your description almost perfectly.
samthegreat Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 - Okizeme. The stronger the better, honestly. This is a big one. - Good Mixup / Pressure game - High Skill Ceiling Why did you stop playing Rachel again? I used to see you around I think.
YukiBlue Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Chie? How come? What's she got over Yu? *@Sam, I never stopped playing Rachel, I stopped playing BB haha!* Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What's she got over Yu? *@Sam, I never stopped playing Rachel, I stopped playing BB haha!* Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - Her Oki is a hell of a lot easier to use and set up - Her normals are faster - Better overall meterless damage
Celerity Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Yeah I mean, she's just more focused. She has a simple gameplan: get in their face, knock them down, call TOMOE!! Yu is just a jack-of-all trades. He has decent oki, average mixup, but it's not that oppressive once you're playing against decent players. It will seem really godlike though for the first week or so (lol Europe).

Its sad to say that yeah first day I'm catching almost everyone with the B version of the sword dive just because some new players don't know how to block it kind of a shame actually
The Loli Otaku Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I'm catching almost everyone with the B version of the sword dive just because some new players don't know how to block it I had the same thing happen with Tsubaki's dive XD
BeautyIsPower Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I remember Kanji's air dive used to catch everyone until they learned. Yes, Chie's pressure and oki game is far superior. When she gets you into the corner, *shudder*.
Star-Demon Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Litchi could always do 13 Orphans for Oki - the real problem with learning to play Litchi is - aside from her very difficult combos, spacing, hitconfirming and situations - is- Well, I have a lot, but I think those are very adequate reasons for a new player to consider someone else as is. Find a simpler character that has good tools for dealing with techrolls/mash on knockdown. Just learn to do that every time you knock someone down.

InWithTheAshes Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 We're talking about P4A though. =/ @Celerity: No, just secret SSS - tier. With Dojiima.
Wild Candy Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I'm actually thinking about getting into P4A, But I'm not sure who I would main. Looking at the Dustloop Wiki section for P4A, the best looking characters to me are Chie, Naoto, and Yukiko, but maybe it could help me narrow it down slightly if I heard what some of the hard core players of Persona thought of these characaters.
Celerity Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Chie = condensed rushdown character with oppressive okizeme and good reversal options. Naoto = hybrid character who needs to work hard and get the most from her confirms, but can get huge damage from a single combo. Yukiko = zoning character who can deal decent damage from counterhits, and uses her momentum to get some pretty good situational pressure.
HENRCAST Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Hello! I used to play BB a little, and now that Xrd has been announced, I'm trying to get into GG, so I got ACplus for the PSP. My favorite character used to be v-13. Are there any similar characters in GG I should try? I'm currently using Ky, but that is mostly because he is supposed to be beginner-friendly.
The Loli Otaku Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Can I get a short rundown of Labrys. What characters from other fighting games does she play like?

Hey, Their are some spacing, zoning heavy characters in GG. I think Axl is one of the most spacing dependent like V-13 is in BB. Most of the characters with some ranged traps/zoning are Eddie, Axl, Venom, Anji, Bridget. Ky is a good start to learn the basics with. Can I get a short rundown of Labrys. What characters from other fighting games does she play like? Labrys is a momentum based rushdown character. She is kind of like Chipp in GG, meaning you have to keep the pressure on and make good reads but she is a bit risky to use. Her weapon changes color based on how much damage and momentum you keep up. Grey is the worst, green is normal, red is the highest. When the color goes up a tier it means you do more dmg and hit stun. Edited May 22, 2013 by zerosoulreaver
InfinityGenesis Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I main Relius in BB, Johnny in GG till I find a better fit. I'm really comfortable with my choices. Fit the mold well.
