qwerty Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 They call that a balanced game when characters have bad and good matchups. As opposed to 'only good' or 'only shitty' matchups. It means Arc did their job correctly. balance is everything
LordSpectreX Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Ragna only. Final Destination. No Distortions or Astrals!
smooshman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Not sure about Jin moving up a bit (seems to be the same stuff to me) I would say that he's not tied with tsubaki lol. the only "new" things are a corner combo that does actual damage (4-6K depending on meter), freeze resets, and some J236D mixups/resets.
DC Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Not sure about Jin moving up a bit (seems to be the same stuff to me) and Ragna being lower. Arakune being higher makes sense, but that's really about it. I wouldn't say the old chart is "way way way off". I agree with Dacid, While the tier placement doesn't seem all that wrong, lots of individual matchups are lolworthy.

I think Jin is fine the way he is. arakune higher? Agreed. Definitely needs to be higher.
ryokoalways Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The only change I've noticed from BBS is Hazama getting +.5 in 4-5 of his match-ups. Everyone else is more or less staying the same.
Narcowski Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Tsubaki should be below Tager as well. I know this isn't a "post your tier list" thread, but looking at the Arcadia lists as well as the generally agreed upon changes, I think something along the lines of this looks about right: S: Litchi > Bang >> Ragna A: Arakune Carl Hakumen B: Hazama Lambda Taokaka > Jin > Noel Tager >>> Tsubaki C: Rachel Discounting the sub-tier divisions, that's pretty much the March Arcadia tier list with Arakune in A instead of B.

Except Noel and Tsubaki belong in C+ tier. Noel can't do anything with her normals and Tsubaki has to spend all of her time charging for lol worthy damage gain.
farranpoison Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Kinda sad that Tager moved up the ranks solely because other characters moved below him. Also I've been hearing some people say that Haku should be above Ragna. Is there any basis for this?
Heroic_Legacy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Japan has this thing where Execution doesn't factor into tiers, just solid gameplay of them goes into it. Like in MvC2 Iron-Man is actually in God Tier because if he's out there after a kill, the other team automatically loses if you have perfect execution. I think the Japanese actually see Carl in S over Ragna.
ZONG_one Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I think the Japanese actually see Carl in S over Ragna. Source..? Or literally, "you think?"
Heroic_Legacy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Literally I could see it happening. unless they go with dustloop and decide MU vs Carl is 9-1 Mu's favor.
Seadragon77 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 So... Can this chart be updated in case of patches that can buff and/or nerf a certain character, because from seeing it, I know a few that kinda need a buff and two that need a massive nerf.
Spirit Juice Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The chart is pretty much based off of a JP match up chart from January. Apparently there isn't a fully agreed upon full match up chart right now, so this is what we have.
ZONG_one Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 When a patch comes/so will a new tier list/match up chart. All in due time, my son.
Dacidbro Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I dunno Spirit juice. It's way off. The placements are nearly all incorrect by one spot or more, some by many (Arakune in the same tier as Tsubaki is a great way to prove this point), the matchups are absurdly dated (Arakune V Bang = 65 - 35 is a joke, you can see that's not the case by watching match videos in America and Japan, and many others can be shown to be a similar episode), and it is unanimously agreed that Litchi is better than Bang, but Bang is listed as 15 points better on this chart. That's just scratching the surface.
smooshman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 looking at it again, Jin really wouldn't move up... he's definetly above tsubaki... and might be closer to Lambda... but he'd wouldn't really move
Afrikaan Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I think Jin is better than Lambda at that spot tbqh, he'd leapfrog her.
worldjem7 Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Try not to look at the placements themselves. Each character's placement is based on their match-ups (hence this being a match-up chart). If you're going to dispute placement, it only makes sense to look at their match-ups first. If a character should be higher, then they should have better match-ups. This isn't a tier list.
Dacidbro Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Scott.. I said America AND Japan. Worldjem, I would argue that Litchi has better matchups than Bang does, and that this chart is incorrect in representing a different conclusion
smooshman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I think Jin is better than Lambda at that spot tbqh, he'd leapfrog her. eh, I'd say he's about even with Lambda and Hazama, his comboability really let's him down. his non-corner combo enders are.... unreliable. but he's got about one tool for every situation... no matter how mediocre. It feels like most of his matchups are fairly even (give or take .5), save for Bang, Ragna, Hakumen (though it's more annoying than difficult), and Litchi .
mundus Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 S tier: Litchi, Bang, Arakune A tier: Carl, Ragna, Hakumen, Hazama B tier: Lambda, Taokaka, Jin, Tager, Noel C tier: Tsubaki, Rachel My own tier list, based on experience and videos of Japanese matches, its of probably, but i still say its more accurate than the page one list.
