Yoo, is there anyway to use my PS3 stick for my PS2? There aren't enough buttons on pad for me to play GG to my full potential. :psyduck:

Don't EVER use full circle Mantenbo, wort idea ever.

DPs are best with square gate, keep that. Trust me. Octagon gates are pretty good for quarter circles/half circles, but they're not as good as squares. Also, cabinents almost ALWAYS use square gates. You don't want the disadvantage at a tourney!

I'm a total newb to sticks, but I think I know what I want.

I want responsive buttons, like the Happ ones.

I want an octagonal gate, I find I like them more for any type of circle.

For the actual design, I might go with a Sanwa-type layout.

Not sure what type of wood I want. Anything else I should know? I might try to make my own, but I live in the smallest city possibe, so it might not even be possible. But I do have a lot of the power tools i'd need. And a box that I could use sitting around in my room. Still, i'd like to get as much know-how as possible before starting. Thanks in advance.

The circle button on my Blazblue TE had crapped out on me for almost a year. Is there a way for me to rewire it? I prefer the original TE design to the TE-S because of the extra side clearance.

Thanks in advance.

Its not the buttons as I had seimitsus in it when it did crap out on me. I disconnected the wires and reconnected them and got it to work for a few hours before and then it crapped out on me again in another match. I'm just about ready to rip out the stock PCB and replace it at this point.

Does anyone know anyone making PS2 compatible custom sticks? I'm looking for an Astro City layout stick to play GGAC on. My last PS2 stick got lost when traveling.

I have a question. I was born missing my left hand, so from my experience with fighters, it seems I am forced to play with a d-pad. For Guilty Gear, I was hoping to pick up Venom, but I was wondering if that would be a futile attempt on a d-pad. Also, if somehow it's possible for a one-handed player to use a fightstick?

Posted

Depends how good you are with the d-pad. I remember seeing a video of someone missing their left hand playing fighting games on an arcade stick, but I'm too lazy to google it atm.

Alright thanks. I was just concerned on whether Venom was like Carl or Arakune in that you pretty much need a fightstick to use them effectively, which I pick up that you don't from your answer

I don't think any character requires an arcade stick to use them. It's all about what you put practice into. I've heard of pad Carl and Arakune players, and supposedly a few people on here bothered to learn I-no on pad. Me, I can't play anyone on PS2/3 pad at all, so I just got a stick and use it for everyone I play.

I totally would learn to use a stick if i thought I could, but honestly, I don't really feel like I need it for the characters I seem to choose. In fact, I think I have an advantage over thumb-dpad users in that I can input the motions a lot quicker and never get tired, since I can use all of the muscle in my left arm, instead of just the thumb muscle. I can TK and IAD without error just like a stick user. I guess you're right that no character strictly requires a stick, despite what many people say.

Can't wait to master Venom. I've never even played Guilty Gear. I think I'm in for a real treat :D

If you're modding the parts, you should be fine but if you're keeping the original PCB you'll need to learn how to solder.

(And the PCB is a bit weird, if you can replace it I would)...

Unless you're modding a Mayflash, a Mayflash guide won't be of any use to you.

Hey, this is exactly the same stick I bought, and that was the guide i used to mod it!

That guide is really good, takes you through every step of the way.

@ Circuitous - well, I did indeed get a mayflash :B

@wolfcrimson - Ahh that is a relief! I was worried either the stick i got would somehow be wrong ( despite being mayflash ) or the guide would be kinda poop, haha.
