GKHiryu Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I'd say octagon. It works best with 2d fighters, at least from my experience.
njmamm Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Yoo, is there anyway to use my PS3 stick for my PS2? There aren't enough buttons on pad for me to play GG to my full potential.
unsanctifier Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Don't EVER use full circle Mantenbo, wort idea ever. DPs are best with square gate, keep that. Trust me. Octagon gates are pretty good for quarter circles/half circles, but they're not as good as squares. Also, cabinents almost ALWAYS use square gates. You don't want the disadvantage at a tourney!
Tsuchigumo Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I'm a total newb to sticks, but I think I know what I want. I want responsive buttons, like the Happ ones. I want an octagonal gate, I find I like them more for any type of circle. For the actual design, I might go with a Sanwa-type layout. Not sure what type of wood I want. Anything else I should know? I might try to make my own, but I live in the smallest city possibe, so it might not even be possible. But I do have a lot of the power tools i'd need. And a box that I could use sitting around in my room. Still, i'd like to get as much know-how as possible before starting. Thanks in advance.

arturefo Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 cool and very, very, very, veeeeeeeeery expansive sticks http://www.b15sdmdesigns.com/
Electric Red Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The circle button on my Blazblue TE had crapped out on me for almost a year. Is there a way for me to rewire it? I prefer the original TE design to the TE-S because of the extra side clearance. Thanks in advance.
JetEnduro Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Why don't you just buy a new button and replace it? Could use the opportunity to change them all if they're not sanwas/seimitsu
Electric Red Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Its not the buttons as I had seimitsus in it when it did crap out on me. I disconnected the wires and reconnected them and got it to work for a few hours before and then it crapped out on me again in another match. I'm just about ready to rip out the stock PCB and replace it at this point.
takahiKUx2 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Does anyone know anyone making PS2 compatible custom sticks? I'm looking for an Astro City layout stick to play GGAC on. My last PS2 stick got lost when traveling.

Stone Drum Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I have a question. I was born missing my left hand, so from my experience with fighters, it seems I am forced to play with a d-pad. For Guilty Gear, I was hoping to pick up Venom, but I was wondering if that would be a futile attempt on a d-pad. Also, if somehow it's possible for a one-handed player to use a fightstick?
Delrian Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Depends how good you are with the d-pad. I remember seeing a video of someone missing their left hand playing fighting games on an arcade stick, but I'm too lazy to google it atm.
Stone Drum Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Alright thanks. I was just concerned on whether Venom was like Carl or Arakune in that you pretty much need a fightstick to use them effectively, which I pick up that you don't from your answer
Delrian Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I don't think any character requires an arcade stick to use them. It's all about what you put practice into. I've heard of pad Carl and Arakune players, and supposedly a few people on here bothered to learn I-no on pad. Me, I can't play anyone on PS2/3 pad at all, so I just got a stick and use it for everyone I play.
Stone Drum Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I totally would learn to use a stick if i thought I could, but honestly, I don't really feel like I need it for the characters I seem to choose. In fact, I think I have an advantage over thumb-dpad users in that I can input the motions a lot quicker and never get tired, since I can use all of the muscle in my left arm, instead of just the thumb muscle. I can TK and IAD without error just like a stick user. I guess you're right that no character strictly requires a stick, despite what many people say. Can't wait to master Venom. I've never even played Guilty Gear. I think I'm in for a real treat :D
Stone Drum Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 it was love at first sound track : D I already think it's the best fighting game ever made and I haven't played it
W.E.M.P. Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 So i wanted to grab a cheap arcade stick to mod http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Arcade-Fighting-Joystick-Playstation-3/dp/B0015PHMFU/ref=pd_cp_vg_0 I am pretty sure this will work just fine but i heard on some reviews that the games won't register the actual joystick and only the buttons will work. any confirmation?
Delrian Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 If you're modding the parts, you should be fine but if you're keeping the original PCB you'll need to learn how to solder. (And the PCB is a bit weird, if you can replace it I would)...
W.E.M.P. Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I was going to use guide pretty much as my model for modding the stick, I am new to modding however, does it seem legit? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NotLRzZDlOg
Circuitous Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Unless you're modding a Mayflash, a Mayflash guide won't be of any use to you.
WolfCrimson Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Hey, this is exactly the same stick I bought, and that was the guide i used to mod it! That guide is really good, takes you through every step of the way.
W.E.M.P. Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 @ Circuitous - well, I did indeed get a mayflash :B @wolfcrimson - Ahh that is a relief! I was worried either the stick i got would somehow be wrong ( despite being mayflash ) or the guide would be kinda poop, haha.
