How in the hell do I fight Tao? that character is insane @_@

All I know is 5A beats her air dash special moves. I do get the j.C counter hits against her a lot too. but, this character is so actively random that I can't read when grabs, cross up or when anything is coming. holyshit those mix ups kill me ;u

You can see if any of the information in this discussion will help.

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?13759-CSE-Hakumen-vs-Taokaka

That was the first place I took a look and was happy I'm not the only one who feels the way I do towards the matchup. That thread is kinda outdated(last post date) too, I was wondering if there is any secret tao tech floating around or the basic punishers would be nice. I know you guys have it sealed away, just let me take a quick look ^^

You don't fight Tao, you only learn to defend.

I guess I should wait for full power CP Haku. I watched a recent CP Pro Haku vs Pro Tao set on youtube and those guys make it look so simple. Tao destroys my brain mid match with her speed and netplay makes it unstoppable.

Honestly, that netplay works both ways. Taos are more likely to mess up their pressure too.

I must question. Does being a scumbag come naturally with playing hakumen? I'm j.2Aing and yukikazeing bursts all over the place, 3C/6B mixup is literally the re-incarnation of Hitler but in my favour, I don't have to respect anyone on wake-up since I have hotaru, ect.

Lol my hakumen is only on week 2. I can't fight all you guys while you all go full power on me yet. Teach me mac :v:

Though sj.2A approach does protect me from haz 6D

Anyone have just general tips to apply to vs everyone? I'm getting utterly raped by a Bang right now. Probably won't help me to win against this guy but it'd be better than flailing around in the dark. :psyduck:

try explaining your problem specifically. what is maing you lose? or what are you losing to?

CSE thread, so, ACTUALLY USEFUL advice please.

ignore him and answer the question as best you can.

back throw > RC> OD> win

you need new material.

Right now I would like general tips for him. Best pressuring normals (I'm guessing 2A and 5A), best way to get out of pressure without a burst, good pressure strings, and good ways of getting in. I kind of fall into autopilot airdash to opponent to catch them with j.2A, jB, or j.2C (Though I'm gettin gout of the j.2C habit). Also, right now, which is better, using 2D or 6D when trying to catch someone during their pressure and I have a window?

One of my worst problems in the fights was my own inexperience and the other player zipping around everywhere. Looked like Taokaka in Bang skin the way he was all over the place.

Player's name was Dreikoo, in case anyone's played them.

there are alot of answers as to how to play hakumen. my best explanation would be to understand the character you are fighting against 1st, then in training mode test their moves and general block strings against your defensive tools and see if its safe/unsafe to hit a button.

i wouldnt recommend using D at all until you can get a good read/reaction on your opponents next attack. 6D is good against overheads, air attacks and mids but loses to lows. 2D is good against mids and lows but loses to everything else to they each have their uses.

against mids 6D gives the largest reward.

approaching on the ground is usually the best option whilst using your normals to block their path usually causes some players to try and approach from the air which because of how unsafe that is is what you want to happen.

your pressure is piss poor, but your throw reject miss game and frame traps are really good. 2A>2B and 2B>2A chaining can CH someone of of mashing buttons if you are close enough. mixing wiht his normals to make people scared is the better way of oppening them up for example 2A>6B, 2B>6B or any genral use of normals that one wouldnt expect like 5B>6B because of how people have conditioned themselves when fighting hakumen.

on the defensive, if you dont know the opponent and the character hitting D isnt what you want to do, you want to learn to IB and 2?5a your way out to find the gaps. you usually wont get it right the 1st time unless you study frames like crazy but general trial and error in practice mode helps.

learning how to fight on the ground is the best thing you can possibly do for yourself when playing hakumen since his ground game is VERY dangerous against alot of the cast. fighting on the ground also controls the urge to iad in and get hit.

First tip for playing Hakumen, is realizing all his moves suck and are terrible. Everyone will beat out anything you try to do, even other Hakumen players!

I'd say try not to get into a habit of relying entirely on air dashes for mobility, and remember that Hakumen has Kishuu as well. You can surprise them with Gurren sometimes too, but its range isn't anything special.

Hakumen's wake up options are 2D and 6D, and Yukikaze for the most part, but most people can predict when you're gonna use them. Be prepared to tech some grabs and watch out for a delayed overhead.
