unsanctifier Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Man I go to work and everyone gets serious The Toronto scene is purely arcade based save for a small handful of people. Nobody wants to have no control over the idea of playing an outdated game. Yes some people choose 3S over (S)SF4, but that's out of interest. I think the general complaint is that outside of Japan we're hardly getting any respect (if any) from our lovely producers. The way the game is going is clearly some sort of experiment, people complained so much about the balancing factor with Litchi/Bang and a bit with Valkenhayn when he came out so I think this is some attempt to fix everything. The first GG games were shit too if you all can recall. I can't speak for the creators and tell you what the exact direction they plan on or are trying to take the game towards, but it is evident we're getting shorted. Especially for the arcade world, that's why Toronto has the hate.
Zeero Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 um, i don't know why u guys are arguing about BBCS2 and dropping BBCS when theres 0 chance that we're gonna get it. Its also saying that you're dropping a better game, for a worse game, because BBCS2 fundamentally has many problems in it. The whole system itself is flawed, you can't push people towards corner when a tech roll system is in place, you further can't push people towards corner when you take away knockdowns from 3C. And I don't know why you guys think the game is low damage, noel does 6k mid screen, tager does 5k, rachel does 5k, arakune still doing 8k, lambda/makoto/valk averages 3-4k i think. hazama does 2k at a time but his pressure/zoning is even more unstoppable than before. But regardless, I hate BBCS2, a game which has tiers in SS,S,A,B,C,D,Shit? can't possibly go well. Thats what the nesica is for i guess, so they can apply patches for balances. And if any of you think BBCS2 is gonna be a patch on console, you guys are idiots
neorussell Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 My opinion: I think the boss will get BB:CS2 if there's enough interest in it. Not really sure how vocal you guys are being but from the looks of it, some would but most don't care. In my own Ghetty history, we bugged him for months about getting Tekken 6. He knew full well that it would need internet but he still got it regardless. The boss knows and calculates his losses if needed. I'm sure he got his money back in 2 months since it was a $1 a game. Let's not lose hope. If the game does get to Ghetty, i'm sure almost all of you will play it. Somebody said that we are all Arcade players at heart. T12 will be packed with games that's for sure. Everybody ready for the tourny on Sat? NeoRussell
Leo7 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 i just want to state the contribution i've provided to gety and how much money i've fed to the cabinet. i've fed the cabinet to the point where the carl vs tager match-up on the cabinet is now 9.4 in carl's favor. this is what happens when you try to learn a shitty match-up. just saying.
DioBrando Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Honestly, for the whole arcade and game debate thingy, I feel like it isn't about what the newest game is, its about what you prefer and supporting the scene. Our arcade can't get everything that we want and the whole new arcade system just proves it. New games and whatever aren't always that great and there are still people who play old version of games because they feel like its a better game, not because its new. Hell, there are even scenes for older version of games compared to newer ones. KoF98/2k2 over all its new iterations, and there are still people who play 3s, SSF2Turbo despite there being a new version. There are people who find these games better and support. It doesn't mean we should instantly drop the game/series because a new one is out when the old version is perfectly fine. I guess it only matters when there's a large shift in competition, but guess what, we are not Japan. We still have US, Canada and other parts of Asia that are stuck with CS1. We do not have access to the game and we shouldn't drop it because a new one is out. Hell, we could expand into other new areas such as AH3, HnK, KoF, whatever. We shouldn't be limited to what's new and sparkly fresh. We should be focused on what we would all/mostly show interest in and expand on that. Just like Nazir, the guy doesn't like BB because its not a great game in his taste. He still supports the old GGAC scene, despite how old the game is. The game is fine the way it is, despite some of its flaws. But this is all a matter of preference. Its not he follows SF4 or any other game because its new, he just shows interest in what he likes. Kellfire: No, I'm not looking for them. Just wondering about stuff. K2: You make strong points in how Arc-sys sells their product. However, I honestly don't think they'll expand outside of Japan that much because of the niche and profittable sale they'll make from Japan. Blade: lol, supporting for a new GG. Did you know the newest GG is some kind of RTS? No, I'm not talking about Overture 2. I wonder how we'll support for a new fighting game for that. Your points in supporting the scene is somewhat right, however we would not get our words across that easily. K2 says thing perfectly himself. I wish the boss would put up HnK D: I wonder what the new game will be D:

Everybody ready for the tourny on Sat? NeoRussell tbh, i think this is a matter of "can't get" more than "whether he wants to or not". He's already declared to us that he will get BBCS2 if possible, but with nesica and everything, it doesn't seem possible without some sort of crack to get around the whole system. I think Tekken 6 works differently (for one thing, i think his version is an international version?) than what we're experiencing here. And for all we know, BBCS2 might be netplay lol, I believe fubarduck said even if he gets past IPs and stuff, it'll cost him like 300 dollars a month to just keep the machine running, which is stupid.

Actually, we experienced the Japanese version first before International. He got it knowing that he could not connect to Tekken-Net. Same thing with BBCS2, it needs to be connected to a network to fully understand the card system or something. If ghetty boss feels that there is interest he will get it. Only time will tell with the release date looming, it will either be a hit or miss. Regardless of him getting it or not, you guys will still go to the arcade to play BBCS, GG or AH anyway so no big loss to him. I've spent lots of money on BB:CT and BB:CS, probably because of the learning from ground up and getting owned by the lot of you in the beginning. I don't think it compares to how much i spent on MvC2. That game got me broke a few times over. LOL NeoRussell
Zeero Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 *whisper* BBCS2 is already out fyi Its different with tekken 6 because the internet is only used for the card system, he boycotted the card system so it worked out. BBCS2 is actually running on the internet, you must be connected to play the game, not juts for cards, I think thtas where the difference lies.
Tofu Warrior Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 For the record, I was planning on dropping the game anyway. CS2 just gives me an excuse to do so, even if it's a weak one.
kousaka Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 BBCS2 is different from tekken in that the game isn't bought on a hdd. It's paid on your nesica account then downloaded onto a nesica server for your nesica clients. It's more like steam then anything except each time you play say team fortress they charged you 50 cents. Even if they do get around the broadband costs, and the ip issues, there is still the cost of buying the nesica server, and the client, and then pay for the per game fees and the game itself. Those costs will never be made back in the life time of bbcs2. In JP arcades it's different because other games will be on nesica eventually. This isn't just a problem with the future of blazblue, but the future of arcades outside of japan in general. Bottom line atm is, if there's no way nesica can be bypassed, or an international version is adopted, games like tekken, gundam, blazblue, kof will all die. Not just in north america, but Asia and everywhere else other then japan as well.
neorussell Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Damn son, that's a make it or break thing if Arcade follow the stream type thingy of games. Let's hope Tekken does not fall in that line. Question: GGXX AC for the Wii, i'm guessing there are changes in there that I can't exploit in the Arcade version? i.e. bridget's yo-yo USEFUL glitches. Is it a lot of changes I mean? I'll give the game another try since you guys are playing again. I was wondering why you guys weren't camping that game while you wait for BB back then. Good to have that back atleast. NeoRussell
faultydefense Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I'll be sad if I don't get to meet team canada at any more US guilty gear majors.
Linear04 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 from what im seeing the majority of canada is leaning gg > bb so i dont think you have much of a problem there
archling Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 You know, Toronto doesn't represent the rest of Canada. =). Toronto is Toronto~ <3
Zeero Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 except if bb does die then going to a major for 1 (dying/never popular) game isn't very convincing for your wallet lol. especially not if you can't win =\
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 from what im seeing the majority of canada (except Blade) is leaning gg > bb so i dont think you have much of a problem there This, and fixed for accuracy. If I had my ps2 back I probably won't be able to resist GG. Everytime me and ky touch there's something magical that happens[/dickriding] After reading an interview that ASW hasn't given up on GG I still have faith for it. But I feel that they need that FG support to finance it, Overture (yes I bought it), outside of Japan was a big financial failure. Maybe I'm a lone naive rider on this but I'll still push the BB envelop for GG. That and the community that BB has been able to build in the city. Godlike. As far as nesica goes, I'm hoping Aksys finds a loop hole around this all. Or arcades will fade as Kousaka puts it. But the entirety of nesica seems to serve as a complete disregard for the rest of the FG animu playing world. I know "ASW gets most of their profits from Japan". But without us their sales for BB wouldn't be 4 times as much as GG. It would stay the same, which is dumb, only shooting themselves in the foot. Leaving N.A high and dry arcade wise.
Tofu Warrior Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Well, how many BB:CT boards/CS keys were sold in North America? I'd say 20 at most, if I had to guess, and even that's generous. Yeah, Ak Sys would be fucking over the arcade community but they're a business, not a charity. There's no reason for them to cater to the international market and I accept that. Outside of Japan, they're only focused on consoles. I still think you're one of the only people who believes that buying into BB will bring about a new GG. Sorry man.
Roldy Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 You know, Toronto doesn't represent the rest of Canada. =). Toronto is Toronto~ <3 Toronto is also Richmond Hill, Markham, and Scarborough As for BBCS2, no point in arguing about it. We're not gonna get it, and even if we do, it won't be anytime soon, meaning our "hype" will be long gone. And transferred to Guilty Gear, MB, and/or AH
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 ASW charity, no. Aksys charity, yes. You disagree, then tell me why GGAC+ and GG2O was localized over here by them. They were obviously not great financial moves but they were still brought her for the fans. ^Not trying to be an ass, but Aksys has done a lot for us in N.A. They do try. Hopefully they'll continue to do so with BBCS2.
Tofu Warrior Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 They must have thought there was a market for those titles in North America, otherwise they simply wouldn't have released them here. Furthermore, no one plays those games, no one wanted those games, so that hardly counts as doing a lot for us. I feel like we won't really be convincing each other any time soon, so maybe we should agree to disagree. It was a good debate though, really livened up the thread.

Seems that way. someone from cambridge is trolling me:psyduck: I'm going to go troll the people in Ottawa. Bye. Be back when my vampniggabro is back in the thread.
Asdferty Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12249672 25:15... this is the greatest combo I have ever seen. Why doesn't the boss put this out at gety, this is amazing. Never have to worry about it getting outdated either :3
DarkDragon Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 hahaha BB is dead eh? Ppl going back to GG now? hahaha
worldjem7 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What is Nesica? How does it work exactly?
