I would suggest keeping the NCI ranbats on a fixed weekend each month if we can. Regularity helps everyone plan ahead. Also, a tourney in another region is a bad reason for us to change our ranbat schedule, no matter how many players will be going to that. I would prefer that our ranbats always be on the first Saturday every month. That's how we've been running NCI for, like, a year.

Also, I've been lazy to post earlier, but good ranbat guys. It was a nice venue & everything ran relatively smoothly. I would have liked for more MB entrants, but I'm sure attendance will pick up again since there we were missing a few notable NCI MB regulars. Also, we could have used another CRT or two in the GG/MB room, so we could have more casual setups, but all in all, it wasn't too bad.

So, it seems like I won't have two audio mixers next time around cause I traded my 502 & some stuff to my coworker for his 802. That means that if we want two streams going simultaneously again, someone else is gonna have to step up to the plate and bring one. Either that, or just go with a computer mic. In general, I don't guarantee that I will allot all my equipment to stream primarily BB any time from now on. It's not that I don't appreciate BB and the community, but I want to make sure that MB & GG get some quality streaming equipment. They're the games I play & it's my equipment. That said, as it stands, assuming we run two streams again, I can guarantee that I won't have a mixer for the BB stream, but I can probably provide most everything else for your guy's stream. But I reserve the right to use my equipment where I want to.

Please let us know when the next one is going to be as soon as possible because the further into holiday season it gets the harder it's going to be for me to get work off, so knowing well in advance would help.

I concur but if the venue isn't available on that day, then we really have no choice there. Chun has mentioned that the venue may not be available on Nov 6.

Nov. 6th would work although check with Rin about him making it if you guys want streaming again as I believe it was mentioned a while back Rin and Dacid were thinking of possibly traveling up to PNW for a Tourney. Don't remember how solid that plan was BUT definitely something to consider since the BBVlog is all run by the one and only RinHara5alty :3

The date depends on the availability of the CS Club; there is a biomedical engineering conference the same day and we're not sure about attendance of the officers. If they do go, it'll have to be the 13th.

Also, Nov. 13th does look a lot more likely, since PNW's tournament is Nov. 6th.

@OrionXElite and @Chun: SoCal Regionals is also on that weekend.

I appreciate helping out with the equipment on the BB side. Without you and AJ it would've been difficult.

The only thing about all of this is I have NO hand in streaming. I have no freakin clue how to use XML, and i dont know how the stream channels work. I only concentrate on the recording. If you just left the recording for me on BB and streamed MB/GG next time this hassle wouldn't happen again. Or we could have a working second PVR :3

I personally vote, that we mix in more gg into the steam before the top 4, if possible. There were some good matches in pool play. There must be a way to switch between hd and sd setups easily.

So what's the current thought on what day to hold NCI on? No recording is fine as the ranbat will still occur; streaming will be decent, etc, but I would like opinions on the next date, as I am relaying these dates to the CS Club.

Questions to Answer Here:

1) Recording of Matches for 13th, or Stream-Only for 6th (Might not be needed for BB if PNW has a stream, MB and GG Only)?

2) Continue with these dates or hold next NCI 20th or 27th?

3) Current monthly schedule or bi-monthly?

Please leave opinions.

Well, for planning purposes keeping a consistent date makes it a lot easier for people to plan. On that note things do happen. So whatever is agreed upon is agreed upon. (I can make it one 6th and 20th, not on the 13th) But in the end it doesn't really matter it just matters when the venue can be open and we have to make sure we aren't taxing the CS club members(after all they are being very nice for letting us use the room). Or we get an alternate venue for this.

I like how only me and Dacid understand why he didn't tech those and now everyone thinks he's a scrub xDD

Zidane is talking about the normal throws, not the purple throws. Dacid didn't tech any of them, and neither was I in the top 3. Both of us know and recognize we were scrubbing the fuck out. lol

Anyways, I agree with Tsubasa. It's usually best to have a general idea of when NCI ranbats should be, so the example of "the first Saturday of every month" is a good example. My vote is for the first Saturday of every month. Not a big deal if Rin cannot make it.

I think we should try and keep as regular a schedule as possible, but that venue is worth being a little flexible. You till us when your golden. Pick a date. People will show up if they can make it.

We can't bend over backwards trying to find a day for every one.

So just find a good day. Its a monthly ranbat to determine rank for larger tournies, and to help improve the skill level of the scene. Some times it won't get recorded, some times it won't get streamed. Some times the turn out will be low. That's Okay.

Also I still think we need to up dat venue/entry fee. $5 for the win.

Oh against Jared okay.

I also agree with the regularity of the schedule, it would make it easier to have the day off as well. But this ranbat will probably take less priority over something big in the PNW or SoCal.

imo first of the month should be NCI day by default, unless something comes up and it has to be on another.

also agreed with Katanadash over GG (and MB too, yay~) getting stream time in addition to BB. The only disadvantage I see with this is that it means less footage for Rin to upload unless there's an easy way for him to switch stations for footage recording.

entry fee at $5 per game, $3 for venue is cool. Just as long as it doesnt end up on some $10-12+ fees for entries.

The finalized date will be decided probably two weeks before the actual date; there's still a lot of question as to the November 6th being available when November 13th is that much more favorable for the CS Club.

For now let's operate on the assumption of November 6th.

Also, in reply to the Venue fee, the current idea is 4$ a game and 4$ venue fee, where 2 goes to CS Club and 2 goes to NCI. Is this raise for the CS Club hopefully somewhat more reasonable, it won't go higher than this, and is fairer?

We'll have a stream going, but it will be periodically changing games. We've already discussed this and planned for it amongst ourselves to make sure all the games get at least a little stream time before top 4, where all games will have top 4 streamed.

Rin, you don't NEED to be at every NCI ranbat, dude. Don't stress over it. You're just going to burn/stress yourself out if you're wanting to be at every tournament ever to record stuff. If you can't make it, you can't make it. Don't worry about it.

If you guys can't get the Nov. 6th date to work, don't worry about it. The first Saturday of every month should be the goal, but it's not like it's either that or nothing.

$1 for venue and $2 for NCI. We're paying them free money unless the club actually has to pay to use the room.

Edit: NCI has always been the first Saturday of every month. It should be that way as long as Scott can troll everybody.

As a CS Club member (not an officer) who happened to be studying in there that day, I'd say your group was very loud, but your free money was appreciated.

Obviously if your group didn't pay anything, the officers of the CS Club would be living productive, recreational lives with their friends and family instead of facilitating your liability-inducing nerd gathering. So it wasn't really free money; you paid to get a hoard of strangers onto our campus.

And the library closes early.

Oh, can't believe I forgot.

Shining Aquas, thanks for giving me a badass stream match, even though we both screwed up left and right. =D

Anytime for the stream. I'm sure the internet loves nothing more than to watch me putz around with my 3-hour every character in BB, playing as trollzilla.

if you want quiet study, go to a library

bro, lets not forget that the SJSU CS club is basically doing this out of the goodness of there hearts. They have absolutely no obligation to help us at all. and paying 80 bucks to rent a venue like that for 12+ hours is a fucking steal.

no really, that is like the deal of the century. If they want us to be a little less loud, and or have some restrictions on what days we can do our gathering, we should buck up and take the hint, not give them shit about studying in a library.

no doubt we are guest there and should treat the venue almost like it was a friends house.

On pricing, if we want to meet goals for hosting a bigger event once a year, we will need to up the amount the NCI fund gets form each ranbat. I think we should go $5 dollar venue and $5 dollar entry, but if people are worried about that, we should go $5 venue and $3 dollar entry. I feel like we should try and bring the hype with bigger pots to attract more talent. BB would be up at around 100 dollars with $5 pot, which might attract some of the central and sol cal kids up on occasion which would be hype as fuck.

I propose we go with $5 venue fee 2 for CS club 3 for NCI and do 3 or 5 dollar tourney entry.

Also chun, if the CS club wants to do the 13th, that is fine.
