As a music appreciator, I can say that the orchestra music in GG2 fits the scenes and the fantasy themes. They set the mood and it did well. However, generally, when listened individually, they don't really stand out from other game/anime tracks and are boring. Only "Dignity," and "Brainwashing" are the good tracks on their own. "Silent Wrath" and "Metamorphosis" have the potential to be as good as "Dignity," but they remained short and more like interludes. "Right Mind" and "Friend" evokes certain emotions, best description: sad piano music. "Guess" and "Freezing Time" fits so well with the Maiden of the Grove-related scenes. But they should have made it as melodic as Nu-13's theme to make it more dramatic and memorable. *Phew... Did I just review GG2's music?*

as for making GG2 more marketable and popular?easy, try ACTUALLY ADVERTISING WHAT THE GAME IS. or better yet. JUST ADVERTISE IT.

It sems in Japan it has more market than here.

Of course, Since ArcSystemWorks is a little company, cannot stand the massification of big companys but, I must said that japanese guys liked a lot GG2.

America's distribuition was only sufficient: same story here: Aksys is not a big company, even if,I must said, a better work coulded be done..

European distribuition is something that goes over immagination. I can say that the only european people aware of the game are the one here, on the dustloop comunity.

you just did. And nicely.

as for the rock/metal tracks, no other words can describe them more than "AWSOMENESS".

my favs are definitely re-coming(sol vs ky theme. just frigging epic), worthless as a lantern at noon(izuna's theme) and Diva...i get chills every time i fight the final boss while the music starts rocking.

I never played dota, so i can't judge how much daisuke took from that game, but i can say without esitation that gg2 plays and looks fresh anyways.

Daisuke kept the fighting elements that made the game famous worldwide, putting them into a 3d game and adding a lot of rts elements.

The only flaw i can find in the game is the number of playable characters.

6 it's just not enough for a fighting game(even if it's ok for a strategic game); 2 more tribes(with 3-4 new masters)would have made the game perfect(along with a few more maps).

That's why i really hope for another gg2(like they did from x to xx).

than I guess it's a good thing this isn't a fighting game huh? oh, by the way, there are 7 characters and 5 tribes, I know you guys in EU don't get to buy Raven, but you can still fight against him, so he's still a factor for you. personally, I would like each master to get his own tribe, than I'd be happy. the current set up doesn't bother me though. the game's complicated enough, and more tribes and characters would probably just make the game more unbalanced, without making any fundamental changes and improvements. I mean, you have any Idea how to expand the cast with the current system? it's so diverse already.

and I will make you pay for defeating my paradigm. you watch!:arg:

The Japanese really do like this game, and I can see that Arc is very much aware of how much they like it, since they still support it, despite it having some of the most awful sales around. I think a lot of people that would like this game overlooked it, just because they didn't bother to try it, and form their own opinion. Instead, they just jumped on the hate train from the poor reviews, and people whining because it's not a 2d fighter. This game still captures the deep, complex, and competitive elements that the 2d guilty gears have, just in a different format, and I definitely give Daisuke props for trying something that most other developers wouldn't try. I really look forward to seeing a sequel to this game, because now that they have a strong foundation, they can expand and refine this game to something even more amazing than what it already is.

we'll see about that.

And i'm gonna make you pay for defeating EveryoneExceptValentine.

seriously, i would like to use decently any other master but i get wiped out every time i use them.

Guess i need more practice.

So I take it that most people that post currently are from Europe? Will you guys be up for a few matches? I'm more than willing to teach you guys a few strategies if ya want (if Panda didn't already do so). I mainly use Sin and occasionally Sol or Valentine. My gamertag is Xithmos. Feel free to add me. :keke: What's with the '<3 you Xithmos' Ayumu? :vbang:

you only beat him twice! the second time was because I accidentally rolled over a downed range unit, and it blew me up.

I've improved my Paradigm since than, I will no longer just sit and eat your projectiles, though I do admit, valentine's army can stand up to paradigm's really well, so I have to stop relying on them so much. I'll make sure to kill your elites extra fast instead of leaving them to my units next time, ok?

EDIT: yes, I'm still working on the Basic strategy Guide. it's coming along ok so far. I'd really like other people's input before I make the new topic though, so I'll post it here and maybe if you guys actually read the thing, you could tell me where I can improve it to be more useful and easier to read. it'll be done sometime this week.

also, I tested out what panda said with Sol's gunflame earlier, it works, but you need to practice using it, otherwise you will goof up when it comes to Modern canceling the gunflame and following up. tossing it out after the common (L) x, x, is like shooting a double sided brute force; it will stop opponents from dodging left or right for the cost of a little extra tension, thanks to Gunflame being unable to be sidestepped point blank, as panda said. be sure to modern cancel and follow up if the opponent just sits there and blocks the gunflame.

it's annoying to hit sin when he sidesteps and attacks with (L) 6x. I hate that move.

Ok, I'm going to ask this AGAIN, because I REALLY want to know the answer to this. when you are preforming an air combo, sometimes, when the opponent techs away, your character basically "chases" them and can hit them. I know it sounds strange, but you know what I'm talking about if you seen it or done it before. Panda referred to this as "tech chasing". I have not seen an explanation of this in game or in the manual, so it's a bit of a mystery in how it operates for me. if you don't know what I'm talking about, try it out your self in training mode as Sol. put the dummy on teching out as fast as possible, and practice air combos, you will most likely see Sol follow the dummy when he air techs, as if he is "magnetized" to him or something, and basically allows you to hit the opponent even after he teched. I've got two questions. first, what are the conditions surrounding the tech chase, in other words, what do you need to do for your character to preform a tech chase. the other question is how do you effectives avoid tech chases? thats all. I'm almost done with the basics guide by the way. it's massive, so I doubt people who don't need to read wont, but if you have the patience, please give it some critique.

Alright, beginner guide is finished. I'll spare you guys and won't bother asking for critique, instead, I'll just make the new topic right off the bat. here's a rundown of what the topic will contain. basic strategy (for general gameplay strategy and tips, help making the game easier.) it also will come with an attachment to the game manual pdf. Sol's guide Sin's guide Izuna's guide Paradigm's guide Valentine's guide Ky's guide Raven's guide. thats all I'll put in the topic. away I go to make it now.

Well, I've just gotten over a long internet fail to watch a lot of the Nico vids you posted, and I'm horribly disappointed not to see any Paradigm play. Also, if I'm lucky, in a couple of weeks I'll finally have the chance to play online, assuming JJJ was right about XBL Silver being able to play on weekends. I need to pick up a point card to get Raven ASAP. And is the Holy Knights Fortress worth it?

yeah, holy knights fortress is worth it in my opinion. I love that super hard map, looks sexy and it's unique.

and that sucks about the nico video crapping out on you. I was planning to update recently too. HN tappu's Dr. Paradigm and Kimera cryin's Sol are awesome, I even recently got a match where they face off!

Aedesyr why don't I see you on Overture anymore? Kickingark said that he destroyed you in a ranked match in two minutes and continued to spam "hello" at your master ghost until you quit haha. Last time I played you was when you were still very green and ran around smacking ghosts with your master lol. Anyway, I appreciate your dedication to teach more people how to play Blackgenma, hopefully we'll be seeing more than 1 person on every hour soon =]. Oh and panda, hurry and get an xbox back, I don't like having my friend request for you just sitting there looking so plain haha.

man, kicking ark is such a jackass when he starts winning, and his tune changes so fast when he starts losing. your such a bastard kicking arc haha.

I see aydyser online on the weekend, around 8 pm eastern (which is like 2am for him). I play him about every friday or saturday. he's gotten way better than before.

Haha yea that's Kicking! Try playing a match with 3 human players with modefications being all your resource and tribe strength as low as possible, on triora, in a points match, with a cpu raven who has 5 tribe strength with full mana + leverage. We end up doing that every now and then, but all that ends up happening is, the cpu ignores me COMPLETELY, rapes kickingark at the start, heds over to RedDragon, and starts raping him,. Then I'll come along as izuna, use my invisibliliy, and repetedly 2x 2x over and over the master just to annoy the shit out of them and piss em off xD

Actually i play on gg2 mostly on weekends, due to the fact that to have a chance to play with ya guys i have to stay asleep 'til around 2 am.-4 am... Oh, and i never ragequitted. i got my ass kicked almost every time(expecially on 2vs2 fights)and i disconnected acouple of time due to an internet problem(my connection still crashes from time to time). Aaaand...it's a shame that the game hasn't been promoted in europe. i still haven't found any european player. Only annoying japanese players.

Only annoying japanese players.

Japanese are not annoying

They are SUPERIOR

It it YOUR fault to not talk japanese, you miserable european.

Oh btw, I've heard there's some sort of combo izuna can do to take over 500 hp but I believe it's just a myth. Has anyone else heard this as well?

Yea, there was also a valentine combo I was having trouble with, x, x, x, MC, 4x, x, x, 8x, (land) (left step) 4x, x, *x, x, 8x, (zest) i never connect the 4x haha but It's no biggy.

boundary can do it, with some success. it's very situational, but when he does this:

(L) x, x, x, MC, (F) x, y, (L) j, x, (land) x, 2x, x, *8y, (land) 8y (keep mashing)

if they tech out of the combo where the * is, you can do obscene amounts of damage, and if done just right, can do over 500 damage with the steel wasabi. boundary knows the combo by heart. a japanese player killed me with this combo once when I was playing as paradigm. I still owned his master ghost though.

even if they tech the combo, if the tech out of it a certain way, the flying kamelia can still miss. very situational indeed. ask him on live some time, and he might tell you more about it. I only play on the weekends, and boundary hasn't touched the game in forever, but he watches me play, so he hasn't really forgot anything.

Ah! so it is true! Thanks, I'm not really going to go practice it since it seem there are more useful and reliable combos izuna can do, but I'm glad(sort of) to know the rumors are true. Btw, what was that sol combo that did like...404? I usually only do the 384 one :v:

384? tell me about it please?

here's all the Sol combos from the one combo Video in particular. including the 404 damage combo, which is a real combo by the way.

combo video on nico douga

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8044588

featuring Sol, Sin, Izuna and Ky.

in the video, the player does a 16 hit 404 damage combo with Sol, the most damaging combo in the video, it's the second to last combo he does as EX Sol.

Inputs Starting with the first combo by Sol in the video. I'm doing all the inputs for all the Sol combos. I might add the rest later.

(L) x, x, x, 8x, 2y, y.

7 hits, 279 damage. the guy didn't Modern cancel the 8x into the 2y.

(L) x, 2x, 6x, 2x, j, y, (land) 8y.

8 hits, 202 damage.

(L) x, x, j, 8x, MC, air dash, x, (land), x, x, MC, (F) x, x, (L), x, x.

10 hits, 264 damage. the guy locked of after the 2nd MC and locked on mid free combo, so the combo remained a free combo even after locking on.

(L) x, 2x, 4x, (right side step) x, 4x, (right side step) x, 4x, (right side step) (L trigger) 4x, (L) x, 2y.

11 hits, 266 damage. the vid cuts off early, so I could be off about it.

(L) 2x, 8y, (forward step) x, x, (left side step) 2x, (right step) 2x, (left side step) 2x, (right side step) 2x, 2y.

10 hit, 348 damage.

cuts to Sin, Izuna and Ky combos.

Ex Sol combos

(L) x, x, x, 8x, 2y, *MC, 2x, (right side step), 2x, left side step, 2x, j, x, 8x,

11 hits, 350 damage. *MC so Sol never leaves the ground.

(L) x, x, j, 8x, (MC) (air dash), x, (land) x, x, x, (step forward) x, x, (left side step) 2x, (left side step) 2x, (left side step) 2x, (right side step) 2x, (left side step) 2x, 2y.

16 hit, 404 damage.

:vbang:

That's one huge combo... takes like no tension to boot.

(L) 4x, 2x, MC, 2x, 2y, (land), x, x, x, 8y.

9 hits, 321 damage.

I don't want to add the rest of the character's inputs....feeling lazy now. I still kind of want to make a video topic on this game, but people need to be able to watch nico video, and a lot of people don't have that.

Posted

Ahem... NicoVideo viewing redirector: http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html

what is that thing? I put in a url and it fails.

Man, I want to set up a tournament or something this weekend. a couple pages back, panda said he would have liked to do a tournament, Americans vs Japanese, sounds like an awesome Idea now that I don't suck so hard. thinking about it is making wish he still played this game.

any body up for a tourney this weekend? 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2. and a masters only I guess with set rules. I have limited time frames, but I should be available on Friday or Saturday. Sunday is not likely but it's do-able...I think.

failing a tournament, we can just do some matches or something. I want some competition.

Edit:

Anyone here want to join in on a tournament I am setting up? It will be this weekend, and I will have more details by tomorrow.

The tournament will be singles and teams for masters only and normal servant play, and it will be double elimination. Teams will be random, and if the match disconnects, you restart with the same teams.

Here is the current list of players and what they will participate in.

1.PandaKingEX - All

2. FlameMasterAJ - All

3. AntiKirby - All

4. Xithmos - All

5. BladeOfJustice7 - All

way back in May when this tournament was set up, I would have gotten destroyed. I had no place in a tournament like this, but now I want in! Time machine! WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?!:gonk:

by the way panda, how did that tournament go anyway?, if you ever read this message.
