I have the space, just not the chairs, tables or setups, and I also live in the middle of nowhere with neighbors who probably wouldn't appreciate 40+ people coming out of nowhere. Plus I have a shitty internet connection. I would also charge a token venue fee because I am such an anti-social asshole.

Soniti Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I looked into a venue at CSUS, and while we would totally be able to get a huge venue for free, apparently the rules for clubs at the university prevent us running a tournament that involves a money entry fee or money prize. Only tournaments allowed are free entry and non-cash prizes D:

I DID have you guys in my dorm's MPR 3 times, Instead of having multiple people bitching at me for having a bunch of people in a room, It'll just be my mom if you guys do something stupid like break something which won't happen because you guys are pretty well behaved. Dates are fine given the circumstances of academic schedules, but if we don't have a place to hold it it's a little edgy. Thanks for the offer of your place GGJ, but I don't think you'll want your house on public location for anyone to come and play. Soniti, if it is possible to hold a tournament in CSUS, I sincerely doubt anyone really cares if money goes into a pot or not, so long as it's not completely obvious. The CS Club holds these events because of the partial funds raised towards the club events. So long as you don't make it sound like a bloody pit of chicken fighting pools I think it could be possible. But I'm not holding my breath on it, more venue ideas would be appreciated.
