Lythium Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 So... I'm trying to learn this reset: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iZrTfE8h6w I can get about almost two resets until it falls apart, and won't let me use any more chain revolver moves. The combo counter resets properly and everything. Any hints or suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I would greatly appreciate it.
dragontamer Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 It works on Ragna (maybe a few others, but it doesn't work on everyone). So make sure you are training vs Ragna. Next, make sure you do the exact sequence. Do 2D -> d.6A -> d.6C -> d.5C -> jump cancel -> sj.D -> 2D -> d.6A -> d.6C -> d.5C -> jump cancel... notice: the "loop" is 5 chain revolvers in a row, so you can't mess it up. You have to do that exact sequence at the right timing.
Lythium Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I got it! Turns out I just wasn't jump-cancelling quickly enough. Thanks for the help!
ThunderboltZ28 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Hey Luna, last night you said 5C was a big no no on Ragna's Hells Fang. I knew it was stupid but I do stupid stuff. So what was I supposed to do? I tried 5D after blocking but that didn't seem to work either. Or was I too slow?
FunkyP Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Hells Fang is -4 on block, you can't punish with anything on normal block, after an IB you have 2B, 2A, or 5B if you're spot on timing.
LunaKage Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Hey Luna, last night you said 5C was a big no no on Ragna's Hells Fang. I knew it was stupid but I do stupid stuff. So what was I supposed to do? I tried 5D after blocking but that didn't seem to work either. Or was I too slow? FunkyP is right, if you IB the first hit of Hell's Fang, you can punish it, if you don't, you are put in a little game of Rock-Paper-Scissors with Ragna. Block-Grab-Jab Alot of Ragnas like to Inferno Divider when you block HF, this will beat anything you try to do, except blocking, block if you think they will try this, and punish with a heavy combo. If a Ragna thinks you are gonna keep blocking, out of fear that you will be hit with ID, they will attempt to grab you, if they do this, you can beat them out with a quick jab, or your own grab. Some Ragna's aren't as risky, and will attempt to block after you block HF, if they do this, you can grab them. If the Ragna is "Packing Heat"(lol) beware, because they will rapid cancel and continue pressure. Your best bet overall is to block, break the grab if they try it, and be patient, wait for them to do something stupid and unsafe, then punish them for it.
dragontamer Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) 2D is a funny option after Hell's Fang. Beats Jab and Grab for a counter-hit. 2D CounterHit -> d.6C -> d.6D -> d.2D -> 623D -> 66C -> j.D -> d.5D -> d.6B -> (d.5B in corner) -> d.5C -> 236D for well over 4k (5k with corner fenrir). Basically, if you're gonna play the rock-paper-scissors game, might as well turn it into a 50/50 mixup for both sides. 2D beats grab and jab. 2D loses to inferno divider and blocking. Blocking beats Inferno Divider and "ties" when the opponent blocks. So you're focing the opponent to basically block after hell's fang. The correct choice is "instant-block + punish" of course. But if your reaction speed isn't good enough yet, or you're playing online and don't care about instant-blocking (stupid lag...), its a decent option. Its a bit risky because Ragna can just inferno-divider a blocked 2D and there's literally nothing you can do about it... and 2D is a terrible option on block (Ragna can do anything he wants to you...) Halcyone3 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 How do I win with noel when everyone's normals are better than mine? go to netplay ranked and spam 2D
dragontamer Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 go to netplay ranked and spam 2D I'm surprised by how much this works. Though, thats more of a testament to ranked players instead of 2D being a good move. If 2D is blocked, you're ****ed.
HexaNoid Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 How do I win with noel when everyone's normals are better than mine? http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10443-BBCS1-Noel-Guide DT wrote up a pretty good guide. See if you can get anything from there.
LunaKage Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 go to netplay ranked and spam 2D Yes, but don't make it a habit, it will get you killed. If 2D is blocked, you're ****ed. Truth.
archling Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10443-BBCS1-Noel-Guide DT wrote up a pretty good guide. See if you can get anything from there. I don't need DT's guide to tell me that my normals have no range, and lead to 0 damaging options. Those that do have range have their hitboxes as long as the move itself so you can get stuffed or grabbed. Those that lead to damaging options are stupid unsafe. She also has shitty anti air options that don't even lead to knockdown. She has shitty tech roll punishing options that don't always lead to knockdown. I also don't need DT's guide to tell me that my Drives are the only moves that get me damage while anybody with half a brain and some guilty gear experience will know how to bait and punish it every time. I also only play in arcades, so I guess spamming 2D will never work =(... Or does it?
wighti Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Spammin it, no it wont work. It's still a pretty decent move in itself. It's not great, but it's not superbad either.
archling Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Lol, you guys take my trolling too seriously.
FunkyP Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 No realtalk 2D is gdlk, goes over everything. You dont even need invincibility.
wighti Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Lol, you guys take my trolling too seriously. Dustloop, srs people talking srs issues.
dragontamer Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Lol, you guys take my trolling too seriously. I know you've been trolling. However, I don't like this precident. This is the Noel Beginner topic. Trolling should be banned here. Its fine anywhere else, but we need a safe haven for newbies to come into. If this topic is not the safe haven, then this board will fail to help newbies. Its that simple.
LunaKage Posted November 8, 2010 Author Posted November 8, 2010 While he may have been trolling, his statement is the kind of thing people new to CS1 Noel would be thinking, so not too much harm done there. I ask you guys to try to behave yourself here though, if you want to rant about how much you hate CS1 Noel, take it to our General thread.
Halcyone3 Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Lol, you guys take my trolling too seriously. lol i didn't, people taking my own post so seriously too. I was kidding new noels <_> don't go spam 2D, u'll die vs people who can think.
ThunderboltZ28 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Okay say my opponent is jumping in and I use 5C and hit them while they're in the air. Is there anything I can do after that? Can I do something like challenge 3 or is that only with 6A?
LunaKage Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Okay say my opponent is jumping in and I use 5C and hit them while they're in the air. Is there anything I can do after that? Can I do something like challenge 3 or is that only with 6A? if you hit an airborne opponent with 5C you can: 5C(Airhit) > sj.C > j.B > dj.B > dj.C > dj.236C If you landed a counterhit you may be able to follow up with 2D > Spring raid > stuff, but I'm not sure about that one. I know 2D combos if you hit an airborne opponent with a CH 5A though.
