Dangaboy Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 This game is seriously pretty. I just wish there was a hide menu option so I could take it all in (unless there is one, and I'm not seeing it). From playing for like a half hourish, I already like this game a lot. I'm probably about to download it. Not sure who i'm gonna play though. Who has oki again ?
Level5-Chan Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I'm glad that some people already like this game that is easy-to-play. The only thing that suffers, just like the JP version, is that the online still had some issues. Unless you're playing against someone nearby, you will feel some heavy online feeling, aka lag problems. But other than that, it's really fun.
FerrellJ Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) I'm probably about to download it. Not sure who i'm gonna play though. Who has oki again ? Everyone. That's what the partners are for. Namely Octavia, Serika, Satsuki... Edited November 20, 2013 by FerrellJ
strawberry Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 This games really, fun, and the sprites look really good. How's netplay working for everyone?
Dangaboy Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Everyone. That's what the partners are for. Namely Octavia, Serika, Satsuki... I knew about the partners being used for oki but I meant are there any Characters who have oki on their own.
redsilversnake Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I knew about the partners being used for oki but I meant are there any Characters who have oki on their own. I know Chizuru does. Can't say whether or not anyone else does, though. Anyway, shame about the netplay patch for the JP version; I was hoping to take down some day one scrubs to inflate my win rate, but the differing versions preclude that. Guess I'll have to keep hoping I find some other importers unless Atlus decides to release the patch for the NA release sometime.

Aww, I just downloaded the patch recently with the hopes of getting the online trophies.
iw2ma Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 if anyone wants to know, Manaka is the worst in the game. She also has no oki, or damage, or mixups, or movement, or space control. She also goes into negative faster than anyone else and is harder to get into positive than anyone else. That's why i cannot get this game
Rhapsody Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Haven't gotten the game yet. So that means the US version is still running on the old netcode then for now?
MikhailLuca Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Playing Hakuowlo, and oh my God. The struggle.
MikhailLuca Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Any tips, hints, combos, battle theory would be greatly appreciated, I don't know what I'm doing.

What? It was working fine for me earlier. Any tips, hints, combos, battle theory would be greatly appreciated, I don't know what I'm doing. The wiki has a lot of info for some characters... almost nothing for others. I'd start there if you haven't already. http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/AquaPazza As far as basic combos to get you started, training mode has a couple combo examples- one of which will take into account your assist. That's why i cannot get this game Manaka is really awkward to play and move around with, but she has no space control or damage is way off. It's only really easy to go into emotion low with her if you decide you want to sit back and chuck books all day. Check around Kouhatsu's youtube, there's some solid footage to watch that can give you ideas. If there IS a character that fits that hopeless description though, it's Riannon. for new players looking for footage: http://www.youtube.com/user/kouhatsu (uploads new stuff almost weekly, lots and lots of character variety) http://www.youtube.com/user/DoaGHThaDOJO (infrequent, but worth searching through. make sure the videos you watch are from 2.0 and above) Edited November 20, 2013 by Tone
MikhailLuca Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Yeah, nothing on Hakuowlo. ;-; Guess you get nothing for being the defensive character, but Otou-san!!!! I really enjoy using him with Rina, spamming lows like a boss. I was able to do the training mode combos, but I need more... Mergh.
NeoStrayCat Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Haven't gotten the game yet. So that means the US version is still running on the old netcode then for now? That might be a probability, since I didn't get prompted for a title update. Just a bunch of other prompts to start the game.
TekkamanArk Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Maybe the US game is preloaded with the patch?
Keo-bas Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Yeah, nothing on Hakuowlo. ;-; Guess you get nothing for being the defensive character, but Otou-san!!!! I really enjoy using him with Rina, spamming lows like a boss. I was able to do the training mode combos, but I need more... Mergh. Been playing him and yeah he seem to have hard time taking initiative unless have partner to accommodate him. Hes definitely grounded base fighter. I think hakuowlo best utility comes from him not being so reliant on active assists as plenty of his commands gives just enough recovery to use raw assists safely and efficient. personally I've been using Yu with him. Damage not so hot but combo potential is higher with YU 4/6 assists which is great combo extender and otg, and her fan smack is good at oki and punishment. Edit: probably best thing about Double fan ( Hakuowlo/Yu) Is being able to do poison, amour or healing safely. Edited November 20, 2013 by Keo-bas
FerrellJ Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I don't see any version info on the titles screen like there is on the JP version but the US version does have all of the items that were supposedly added with it (region selection, standby, etc). And then there's the fact that I've played with others using both versions. I'd say the US version came preloaded with 1.02.
iw2ma Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Manaka is really awkward to play and move around with, but she has no space control or damage is way off. There's only 1 REAL Manaka player and he/she loses 80% of the time to anyone doing anything because she does fir that description. Her damage only comes from having ALL THE METER, which she'll never have because she must always waste it on Blow Backs, Assist Alpha Counters and LIBRARY SHOCKWAVE supers to try and clear space, which she can't control at all. She's bar none the worst character in the game. Riannon bodies her for free. Manaka literally has 0 good match ups.
Tigre Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 She's bar none the worst character in the game. Riannon bodies her for free. Manaka literally has 0 good match ups.I have a somewhat hard time believing she's worse than Oboro. Unless some secret Oboro shit was found in the last six months.
iw2ma Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I have a somewhat hard time believing she's worse than Oboro. Unless some secret Oboro shit was found in the last six months. Oh she is, she is her own tier at the bottom.
pochp Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 There's also a lot of footage on the A-Cho channels : http://www.youtube.com/user/GAMEacho/videos and http://www.youtube.com/user/zero3japan/videos
Tigre Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Oh she is, she is her own tier at the bottom.Everything you say about Manaka also applies to Oboro too, except he can't get damage even with meter. So yeah, still having a hard time believing that.
nadakaineko Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I mean, if we wanna complain about it, Manaka, Oboro, and Riannon can have a cripple fight to determine who's the worst of the worst, but at the end of the day, they all have large flaws and they're all generally considered to be at the bottom of the cast. That much being said, you can still win with these characters, but you have to be way more on point than if you were using a stronger character. There's no real reason to fall into hyperbole either -- it doesn't really help anyone get a firm grasp on the flow of the game by doing so. If you want to help spread information, then explain *why* she has issues and offer advice on it with the intention of maybe opening a discussion. If you just came to complain about a hard-to-use character and how you can't win with her, ggs.
MikhailLuca Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I think with Hakuowlo you really have to be on point with your defense. His counter move deals a lot of damage and you can punish things from far away with tiger normal. His wind fan normal makes a good anti air on the ground and a good anti-anti air if you're in the air. The B version on the ground makes a good combo extender since it blows the opponent upwards, letting you jump up and continue it. I think his longest reaching normal is his crouching B which you can gatling into B Wind Fan on block so it can kind of be a frame trap. His playstyle is a bit weird and awkward since he doesn't have a real dash (short step) or long reaching normals, you have to be really patient and have to make the most of footsies. That's what I gathered from playing as him so far.
