FerrellJ Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I'll be brushing up on it this weekend in hopes that there will be some excitement for it next week. I'd love to see more people play it but it just doesn't seem to be getting much attention anywhere. It's a shame too, because it's probably one of the most unique (and legit) new fighting IPs to come out recently...
TAI-X Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 You'd think the budget price of $30 alone would attract a decent crowd, but I guess the price point for non-mainline fighting games has plummeted to almost nothing in the wake of PC releases and F2P titles. Not to mention that the Western "FG Renaissance" is running out of steam, with Capcom circling the drain and MOBAs sucking up so much attention from anyone interested in competitive games.
Elochai Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 You know, while we're at it, I have a question: Are the combos in this game mostly cancels or links?
NeoStrayCat Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I'm also looking forward to this too once its out, just gotta see how this fighters' system works, lol. When will this be available again? 11/19/13, in both Retail/Digital.
Pichy Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 You know, while we're at it, I have a question: Are the combos in this game mostly cancels or links? Chaining into sweep/2A2B super are extremely viable combos. This game is much more about having a strong footsie game and fundamentals than knowing the technical stuff. Think of it like a mid-late 90s Neogeo game like Breakers or Real Bout 2 rather than Street Fighter or Melty.
MotokoChill Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 So I preordered the NA version of this game.
Julimano Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 i already have the JP version, but ordered the US for a friend from play-asia and just got the shipping notification
FerrellJ Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 You know, while we're at it, I have a question: Are the combos in this game mostly cancels or links? Like Pichy said- you can typically chain A attacks into B attacks (there are some exceptions). Then from there you can either chain into the C attack or a special / super. I believe some character may also be able to chain into their heavy smash (B+C) but I'm not positive on this- I do know that at least a few can frame trap very effectively with it anyway. At any point you can also incorporate an assist attack into the combo for the cost of one meter. That can allow you to follow up a standard A>B>C chain since the assist will keep the combo going. In general, the combos are relatively short so it's not as reliant on memorizing long chains of attacks as a lot of other games. There is also a nice feature in training mode that will show you a couple example combos for your character- one without the assist, and one using the assist (it changes the second combo example dynamically based on the assist you selected).
Tigre Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Netplay patch today. I got a workable connection (From Philly) to NJ, and VA that was playable. Florida wasn't playable (but the person I was playing admitted their connection is bad) so hey, maybe the netplay actually works now lol
LeDom Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Got the game today as well, I'm hoping to learn some decent Tamaki combos!
violette21 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I was on the fence about getting the but thought I really don't have much to play until BBCP comes out in march so I will pick up the game tommrrow at gamestop or something. I am glad that I will be able to play as some Tears to Tiara characters, I really loved the anime.
Level5-Chan Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Now that Aquapazza release today, I hope that lots of people gonna play and appreciate. It's been a year since the japanese version and almost nobody is playing online. (Well, I understand if it's because of the connectivity)
Celerity Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) I've only played this a couple of times, how is the overall balance outside of Chizuru and Tamaki? I have been repeatedly informed that my book-wielding waifu is garbage tier. Does she have anything dirty that lets her compete with the best? P.S. PSN store just updated, downloading now! I have been repeatedly informed that my book-wielding waifu is garbage tier. Does she have anything dirty that lets her compete with the best? When in doubt, bookshelf super I suppose. It's pretty much instant emotion low for the opponent unless they spend a bar to guard cancel. Some characters have other ways around it (Sasara can parry it, IIRC; Touka can teleport through it) but they are risky and the opponent has to be on point with their timing. There are two people on my friends list that main her... I'll see if I can figure out just what it is they do to make her a frustrating matchup for me.

A few manaka tips: If you double jump really early you can get a low rent short hop. j.B can be done super low to the ground and if you're high up you can try to cross up. The stumble/dash has a built in high/low mixup, A will give you your 5A which hits low and gives you 5A > 2B > 2B > 5C > bookshelf/super. B will give you a really low j.B, which knocks down on hit and on counter hit can be followed up with bookshelf/super (maybe 5C into that? I don't remember off hand). Throwing books out of forward jump can help keep you out of low emotion (I think, don't quote me on it). Also super is good, but it's not amazingly great, everyone has a way around it if they try hard enough (there was a video somewhere, I can't find it now though), most of them have to be looking for it though. I don't know how much of that counts as dirty. Also I'm new and play this game, hi.
NeoStrayCat Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Just got this now, looking good so far, lol.

Elochai Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Picked up my copy ~. Hilariously enough (more like expected), I had to try more than one store. Here's hoping netplay isn't too bad.
FerrellJ Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 That wonderful feeling when you swap over to your newly received US copy of the game and hop online only to realize you forgot to remap your controls for the new save data... I'll have to unlock Boss Ma-Ryan again too.
NeoStrayCat Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Guess between region versions don't share save data, but the trophies don't stack, but save/translate into English though, already compared anyways from someone who imported it. >_>
NeoStrayCat Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 There wasn't any DLC for this, was there? Other than a Aquapazza theme on the JP PSN store, no actual DLC.
Elochai Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 This game is seriously pretty. I just wish there was a hide menu option so I could take it all in (unless there is one, and I'm not seeing it). From playing for like a half hourish, I already like this game a lot.
