Any source for that? Because all I've seen is some angry 2ch posts that do not really amount to anything.

ASB's sales and player activity dropped off quickly after release, even more so than the usual Japanese console release that makes most of its money in the first few days. It definitely suffered from UNIB Syndrome, where a lot of players dumped it after finding that the initial version was really broken, and didn't return when the patches finally made it more legit (and reduced/removed the energy restriction).

Of course there were also a lot of casuals who bought it solely for the license and characters, and had no intentions of returning it because they didn't really care about the other stuff. The game certainly wasn't a failure.

Still can't see any source for that. I mean, it's not like it doesn't sound plausible, but frequent DLC (including free characters) and patches kinda made the game seem pretty lively until mid-December to me.

too much generalization. Look at how many sega clubs opened in the last years. It's more of a shift from a lot of small arcade shops eveywhere to a little number of giant arcade shops. But it's true that small arcades, specially one's dedicated to older fg (like 3s, cvs2 or older 3D fg) are closing doors every week there.

Small arcades are the obvious example (apparently, due to Nesica and Aime), but I've heard from people there that even the bigger ones are as dependent on random people playing crane machines and other front-room games as they are on their regulars. And even then, mobile games are apparently eating into their business as well.

And new Sega Clubs opening may or may not be counterbalanced by Bandai Namco closing a bunch of their own locations.

It is for a lot of games, like RPGs, action-adventure and Western titles. Not so much for fighters, because it's preferable to play those in the arcades. A lot of Japanese players who buy console ports of fighters only use them for practice/story mode and rarely play online, since they'd rather go to the arcade for that.

Not really. Thanks to Japan having a great internet infrastructure and online play being free, a lot of Japanese arcade players will also play online quite a bit (to paraphrase one person there, "calling someone a netplayer isn't an insult, because everyone netplays"). Hell, when CP first came out on PS3, BB actually slowed down in some arcades.

But yeah, basically, the arcade scene isn't struggling nearly as much as ours, but at the rate it's currently going, it will be.

Rather than console gaming, isn't mobile gaming really big in Japan? Not for fighters though I guess. Whenever an fg gets a mobile port it usually seems like an afterthought.

Because there's an alternative method to use the Guard Thrust.

If you're in Vorpal state, you'll spend all your GRD to do the Guard Thrust. This way you also won't gain the GRD Break state.

Greetings all.

So how do you all feel about the balance between characters in this game? The reason I ask is because it seems like people from the arcade footage mostly use Carmine, Gordeau, Merkava, and Yuzuriha.

I don't really know much about the gameplay system, so I'm not sure if that's because they're stronger than everyone else, easier to use, or simply more popular. I know I'd probably use either Merkava or Yuzuriha mostly because they look like fun to play as, but are these characters considered stronger than the others? Why is that?

Go to page 331 of this thread,DandyJ has a good write-up of the characters.

But there are only 85 pages in this thread...

40 posts per page, get on my level, scrub.

Has there been any update on when the next Dev stream will be?

They just tweeted today that currently they aren't allowed to share further details, but the stream will be on the latter half of March at earliest. Meaning pretty much that they'll be able to talk about console port once Dengeki FC releases on arcades.

Yeah, well... call it odd, but I was sort of expecting a summer/fall date (baring slips), but we'll have to see.

I kind of hope that with a console release, their is one or two more characters in the pipe.

Well, there's still Nanase, the sword-wielding schoolgirl. She pretty much has a high chance of making it to console since Akatsuki stole her spot on the arcade version.

I think they said they wouldn't be able to do it, but if they were to add another character I'd want to see Wagner. Story important (for what little that matters) given the number of characters with vendettas against her, and it'd be nice to have a 2nd Licht Kreis member.

they streamed freeplay like 4 hrs ago too, there was a lot of matches with the walldestein top :)http://ja.twitch.tv/llakb/b/505387883

btw, they always mantain the archives in twitch for some time, and later reupload it to nico douga. Don't worry if you missed

This is the first time I have seen it somewhat live and was really impressed with the game play. Can't wait on a console version.
