Yeah, I had heard that Orie and Carmine had some great oki options, the problem is that I generally like my characters to have good mobility as well. Carmine seems a bit sluggish in comparison to most of the cast, I could probably make Orie work though. If what Rurouni says is true and Seth's oki is good, I might be leaning towards him.

It's not like this should even matter all that much, haha. It feels like it will be a billion years before we can actually own it.

well this game is mostly ground based, so youre not going to find characters quite like the ones in your av. carmine is still plenty fast on the ground. carmine and orie are probably the most oki-based characters, merkava too but no one ever uses his meter for the bugs lol. orie is more straight mixup (more suited if you want a high/low game), while carmine is endless lockdown but easier to block.

Yeah, Carmine and Seth are probably your best bets at 'crazy ass pressure and mixups', though Seth is significantly faster at the cost of...a few less options in general, I think.

I'm really hype for playing Gordeau, personally. Despite his 'meh' mixups, command grab is still legit and he has this really nice combo of good neutral, high durability and multiple defensive options that I really like in characters, at least from what I saw. Playing Azrael in Blazblue has spoiled me quite a bit, and I can't really stand to play characters without above average HP anymore unless they look really fun(Like Sho in Persona 4 Arena 2)

I have to say, I considered this game a joke back when it first came out, but it definitely developed into a legit game over the past months. Very hype for this.

You had the right idea the first time Stellarcircle. If your looking for pure mixup and great movement options choose Seth, who arguably has the best mixup in the game. He's the closest thing you'll get to Millia or Valk in this game. Orie can be played in multiple ways and her oki (if you choose to do it, you can play her without it really) usually goes for 1 time 50/50s with 22A/B. Only time where she gets scary mixup and oki is 22C stuff. But that costs 100 meter and Seth can just do all of that meterless.

TTK is a good Seth to watch.

what mixup? his short hop is too easy to block. the only crazy mixups ive ever seen w/ seth are non-meaty corner crossups but ive only seen the rank 1 seth do them so idk all the setups. lemme see if i can find the vid

Seth's mixup is too risky for what he lacks. Bad backdash for escape, no decent non-meter reversal, short normals range, low HP.

You can make people cry with Carmine. He has a damn fast run and big normals on top of having a lot of oki setups.

But those teleport mixups are so hype! All Carmine does is bleed on people.

Plus Seth is pretty damn fast and can punish from really far away with meter. I guess Carmine is better if you want vortex mixup, but Seth is so flashy.

I would play Seth purely for the hype factor. I have been told that both Seth and Carmine have a really good vortex game. The difference I've seen is that Seth seems to have more options, though they may be riskier. I'm not interested in Carmine for the same reason I'm not interested in Aigis is P4U. Despite the fact that on paper they fit the character archetype I love, they just do the same thing over and over (Aigis moreso than Carmine, but you get the picture). There were times watching Seth players where I had to rewind the match and watch a mixup again because it happened so fast it was almost unseeable. That is the kind of thing I look for!

I kinda wish Erudite Eyes, Cross Thought, etc would be put on iTunes or something at least since the OST already came out.

So I have not followed this game in probably over a year now and decided today it was time to catch up. I'm a bit confused by the fact that there still is no console port for this game. It's been 4 years since I first heard about UNiB. I thought this was one of the big fighting games in Japan. I mean the reactions it got from the Jp FGC and everyone else seem to favor it was going to be pretty popular. So.. how does a game like UNiB with so much potential end up rotting away (I could use a different word here but I'mma go with that anyway) in the arcades for so long? What is the current state of UNiB's community and is it possible for UNiB to get the same treatment as Arcana Heart and Aquapazza? Would the dev team be open to another company like Sega or Arc publishing their game? And finally, is there anything I can do to help move the game closer to a home console port?

Oh and.. what's up with the Skullgirl characters? Was that only to celebrate the PC release of SG or is Filia a real UNiB character? I tried to Google/Youtube it but couldn't find any footage on her. I guess that just means she's not out yet :(

- Arcades make them money in Japan, so that's a good part of it.

- The community slowed down a lot, certain characters almost entirely disappeared. As for being localized, is it possible? Sure. Likely? No.

- Considering the team up with Sega for Dengeki Bunko, it's possible this is in the cards.

- Nope.

- The Skullgirls character was something of a joke at saying they wanted to have a Skullgirls character "to show them what 'moe' really is", and probably also commemorative of the release.

It probably didn't get a home release earlier due to a drop in players after it became clear that it was kusoge. I obviously can't say whether or not it picked up enough steam after all the changes, but it does seem to at least get some regular play. It's more legit now, so it probably could be ported in its current state, but since they're co-developing another game at the moment, there probably won't be any news on that front for a while.

I was under the impression that console gaming wasn't really that big of a deal in Japan. On the other hand, Arcade gaming is a lot bigger over there than it is here. I'm not really certain if getting a console port is indicative of a game's success over there. That said, this game does have some pretty stiff competition, notably from ASW I would think.

The Japanese arcade scene has been on the decline for at least a few years now, and it's apparently been exacerbated recently, so French Bread would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they leave this in arcades unless they develop a new IP or something (since Melty Blood belongs to Type-Moon, who are apparently holding off on that series until the Tsukihime remake comes out).

Interesting. I would really like a console version anyway. Increasing the number of ways the game can be played should help them, so I dunno what's up.

too much generalization. Look at how many sega clubs opened in the last years. It's more of a shift from a lot of small arcade shops eveywhere to a little number of giant arcade shops. But it's true that small arcades, specially one's dedicated to older fg (like 3s, cvs2 or older 3D fg) are closing doors every week there.

Cost is a big factor. Releasing a console version also gives the arcade version more competition...

It is for a lot of games, like RPGs, action-adventure and Western titles. Not so much for fighters, because it's preferable to play those in the arcades. A lot of Japanese players who buy console ports of fighters only use them for practice/story mode and rarely play online, since they'd rather go to the arcade for that.

A major recent exception was JoJo ASB, which was never an arcade game and sold quite well on the strength of its license alone. At least at first; tons of people returned their copies after finding out about the energy system and poor balancing.
