pochp Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I'll be there thursday and sunday this week. Get ready to get shit talked to hell and back. Great! Bring your PS2 stick with you too plz lol. Even if that wasn't done on purpose, you guys have some artists you listen to in common. fix'd Which ones function better? My stick is already an xbox stick so this doesn't affect me as much as it would Pedro though (I think). My stick is already an Xbox stick too @Kaeru : yeah we'll discuss this.
kaeru Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) i was looking over the various parts needed, and a very rough estimate of cost would be: • 35$ - for unassembled multiconsole board (needs to be put together) • 9$ - for unassembled Imp board (needs to be put together) • 5$-15$ - Then add on to that shipping of said parts, anywhere between 5-15$ for Canada i'm assuming • 5$-20$ - Then there is consumables; solder, braid, wire, zipties, hot glue, connectors (the really fancy Neutrik RJ45 Pass through is 11$+shipping, otherwise consumables are cheap) • 0-15$ - Shipping again for the special connectors if you want something that looks really nice, otherwise i can get all my consumables at my electronics shop. • 5-10$ x per console - Extension cables for all the consoles you could possibly want + RJ45 connector to go with it, this is variable but can be very cheap. I got a PS2 extension cable for 5$ on ebay shipped • X$ - Unforeseeable costs, shit always happens. • X$ - Labor, I don't know how long it will take me to do the entire mod. It's not complicated and since i've done it the "hard way" with my own stick already this should be smoother. Including drilling if necessary depending on your option select and careful planning to not mess anything up. I'm leaning towards the 50$ mark if someone asked me to do the mod for them. • - Tools. I wouldnt charge for tools since they're 1 time buys and i have everything i need. But if you're going to tackle this project you need to take this into account. Here are all the information resources you might need to understand what the mod involves in case you want to try your hand at it: http://shoryuken.com/f177/rj-45-mc-cthulhu-imp-xbox-360-dual-mod-tutorial-diagram-225565/ the Prequesites section in the beginning has other tutorials that can fill you in on the more minor details of padhacking or general dual modding. And the end has a link to making system cables to work with an RJ45 jack. when i look at it all, it seems expensive, so give it some hard thought. Another thing to consider is Sanwa buttons from japan are around 3.50$(x8=28$) each and a JLF sanwa joystick is around 27,50$. In otherwords, getting a cheap stick and upgrading to sanwa parts is around 55$+another 25$ shipping. That's already 80$ ! not counting the price of said cheap stick. Edit: I have every intention of being there on Thursday, if nothing goes awry. Edited April 4, 2011 by kaeru
pochp Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Wow I took a good look at the work that was implied and it looks REALLY interesting, but I don't see myself doing a project like this before the summer. I say this because I really want to do this one myself, or with help, but I don't feel like working on it until I have a lot more free time (>implying I will have a lot more free time this summer). Yeah I guess I'll keep leeching others' PS2 sticks until then (unless I find a cheap one for sale and eventually upgrade it, which could be a good idea, depending on how much GG I end up playing). But yeah, big thanks for posting up all this info, it should allow me to make a well thought out choice (I hope).
AirMaster Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Great! Bring your PS2 stick with you too plz lol. I'll only bring it sunday. I'll be coming right after class on thursday, so no stick.
kaeru Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Basically with my own stick, i did it the harder way, without using those pre-designed boards with perfectly setup screw down terminals. I drew lines off all relevant solder points from my PS3 TE to a terminal strip i installed inside of it, then i padhacked an Xbox360 fightpad and lead it's buttons to that terminal strip as well. Then instead of the Imp i used a USB hub. To add the PS2 now is somewhat easier, all i have to do is padhack a dualshock1 controller and bring it's leads to the same terminal strip. The hardest part will be replacing my USB with a more universal DB9 9pin plug. I can't use RJ45 like in the tutorials i linked you guys to because you NEED to use the Multi-Console chip to get away with only needing 8 pins. The ONLY advantage to doing things the old skool way like i did is that i don't need to hold down a button to change consoles, and i managed to retain the silly turbo and RS DP LS switch which we never use in fighter games anyway. And i don't instantly have access to gamecube, dreamcast, super nintendo, etc systems for free, like the multi-console chip provides. Edited April 5, 2011 by kaeru

BladeOfJustice7 Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Hey Blade. You watched the new X-Men anime yet? It's out already? o_O WTF I only saw the 30 second trailer on Marvel's Youtube. EDIT: Downloading it now, (anime senshi website) Edited April 5, 2011 by BladeOfJustice7
AirMaster Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Nini: Animation's awesome seriously. Voice acting will take time getting used to. Second episode is where the action starts.
unsanctifier Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I refuse the Wolverine Anime. I also refuse you, airmaster.
pochp Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Shit I'm so busy with school and FGs I didn't realize the new season started :O (looks at 2011 spring chart) Damn, not enough bishoujou MCs shows that look interesting this season Oh well guess I'll just download a bunch of episode 1s and keep watching what's interesting, like usual. Is there anything that I should specifically check out?
unsanctifier Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Dragon Crisis is really good. That's coming from a guy who almost never watches anime.
pochp Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Isn't that from last season? I usually only follow 3-4 airing, and it missed the cut. I might marathon it this summer at some point if you say it's that good.
AirMaster Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I refuse the Wolverine Anime. I also refuse you, airmaster. I never watched the Wolverine anime. The X-Men one stays close to the source material from what I've heard. So it's better in that respect. Check the trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXQuRdPHGs
BladeOfJustice7 Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Nini: Animation's awesome seriously. Voice acting will take time getting used to. Second episode is where the action starts. I just downloaded ep 1. I didn't see ep 2 though. I deny the Wolverine Anime. I also deny you, airmaster. Fix'd for great justice.
AirMaster Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Blade: well, I was saying that based on the next ep preview :P Anyway, I'll be at foonzo around 2pm till 5pm.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 I understand the wolverine anime making wolverine look Bishounen. My issue was they made him "too western" in fighting style. This nigga has been trained all over the world and was a samurai at one point. They made him look like a wild beast when he fought. That bothered me. Logan, next to Capt. America and obviously TaskMaster, have the highest fighting styles. I really didn't like how they downplayed Wolverine.
pochp Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 They usually open on Tuesdays around 6, but don't you have class? Check the SRK thread for updates I guess, http://shoryuken.com/f248/mtlsf-montreal-thread-2011-a-261077/index54.html they also have a twitter and website but you can find those (mtlsfhq) You could also just go to Foonzo and play stick. Anyone can play marvel on stick. REAL TALK.
Nini Heart Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 By the way, is it ok if I bring over scrubsbeginners(literally) at meet ups? There's this girl in rez here who wants to learn BB since she saw me playing and found it fun. I can't teach/help her though, i'm wayy too impatient with scrubs. What i'm asking is, is there anyone willing to tutor a 100% beginner if i bring her to meet ups? Cause I know I sure as hell can't. Also pedro, like I said, i'm craving for Marvel, so i'm skipping class to play MARVEL today. My new team is good on paper, and i've learned some legit combos and unblockable setups now, i wanna try that shit out.

Nini Heart Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Only english I taught her the basics(took way too long...) and she can do some basic combos, but it's her first FG, so her fundamentals need a LOT of work. Doesn't help that she gets salty real quick(worse than brice loool). I'll ask her if she wants to go to HQ next time she asks me to help her get better. She's playing Makoto too, so you can pretend you're beating on me and be happy you're bullying a low tier if she ends up going to HQ lol. Also, school makes me sad face. I have an essay due tomorrow apparently. No more HQ for me tonight
Sophisticat Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Bring her to Foonzo, I think it's a better place to show than the HQ for a first timer, frankly. We've got one girl, we can't scare her! :P Get her introduced first and we'll go from there. Gotta be careful with beginners since the amount of work you have to put in fighters can be daunting. Take it easy at first, then we can move on to more difficult stuff.
