Lord Knight Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 LK, what do you think about saving bursts with the way guard primers work in CS2? Do you think that using two bursts in a round is okay, generally not worth the risk, or something more match-up dependent? Adding on to what Lumin said, some characters lack a good reversal, and gold burst is a good substitute. Regardless, I'm not a fan of "saving" bursts outright, I just use them as needed. Some setups I use gold burst to escape (a good example is Tsubaki 22[D]). If I think I can take a round and it's close, I might use my burst. I get sort of upset when I see people just hold their bursts until they have 30 percent health in the last round. any updated tier list? i want to change characters. S: NOL A+: Annoying characters Litchi A-: Good Chars B: Hakumen, Tager how do you feel about noel? should i take her seriously as a character? What do you mean "take her seriously"? I mean, she's on the character select screen. . .
Errol Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 The effectiveness of gold bursts varies quite a bit between characters too (er, damage).. from not so great to amazing. A gold burst combo from Tsubaki nets you something like 1.8k damage. Valk, Hazama can get 5k off a gold burst (coincidentally both lacking a non super reversal). Makoto, Noel too probably? Not sure how many characters net damage up there.

Sakaku Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 What happened to -[Network] PSR will be displayed in match. -[Network] More penalty's against rage quitters. ? :V
BeaverDeity Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Do you have any recommendations on how to get rid of (sometimes) fatal gameplay habits?
C0R Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 [Well I'm not LK but...] If you're having trouble relearning footsies or breaking bad habit, I can't say there's a surefire way, as everyone has their own preferred methods. But if you actually breath for a minute and think; "Damn, that just cost me the match... I can really do a lot better if I overcome that. What a stupid mistake, I must look like a fool. I'll do my best to improve in that situation." I at least find it helps. Bad habits form when you're not thinking or analyzing the match. So think about what you're doing and the consequences/size of your mistakes.
BeaverDeity Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Ah thanks. :D I usually don't think too much when I play, so that's probably the problem lol. Also, any tips for teching throws online? Even when I see it coming it makes it into a throw reject miss. >:
atdsutm Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 which among the top 4 is the easiest to learn and to win?
kirbster Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 LK, what do you think about the new Rachel-Litchi matchup? Obviously it's nowhere near like CS1, but I find the disparity between both character's ranges and Litchi's easiness to prevent Rachel from safely summoning pumpkin and frog is quite hard to deal with. Also, having played me a bit, would you have any advice?
Lord Knight Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 What happened to -[Network] PSR will be displayed in match. -[Network] More penalty's against rage quitters. ? :V No idea. Do you have any recommendations on how to get rid of (sometimes) fatal gameplay habits? You just need to force yourself. Actively think about what you're doing. If you really care about winning/doing better/improving, you'll stop doing stuff that gets you hit. Ah thanks. :D I usually don't think too much when I play, so that's probably the problem lol. Also, any tips for teching throws online? Even when I see it coming it makes it into a throw reject miss. >: Try using OS throw tech (1A+B+C). If they actively try to throw reject by using 2A > purple throw or something, don't hit it and tech the purple throw. Make sure to only tap OS tech only once. which among the top 4 is the easiest to learn and to win? It sounds like you don't want to put much effort, so just play Noel. LK, what do you think about the new Rachel-Litchi matchup? Obviously it's nowhere near like CS1, but I find the disparity between both character's ranges and Litchi's easiness to prevent Rachel from safely summoning pumpkin and frog is quite hard to deal with. Also, having played me a bit, would you have any advice? I think by design, Rachel will always struggle with Litchi. Actually, I found the CS1 matchup the hardest out of the three versions, despite CS1 Litchi being the strongest, because Litchi only had itsuucan after 3C, which let Rachel do mostly whatever she want from fullscreen. CS2 Litchi does really well with 3C > 5D but lacking itsuucan hurts a bit. It's been a couple of months since we played so I can't really reply accurately lol.
atdsutm Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 It sounds like you don't want to put much effort, so just play Noel. i just need a quick secondary, but why noel anyways?
Romeyurhomey Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Press D and magical things will happen. LK, how do you feel about the defense system in CS2? Being a Litchi player I feel like I don't get that much of a reward for being defensive unless it's meter gain =/.
atdsutm Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 but it seems like Makoto is now confirmed to be God (Bannable) Tier in the game, i guess I can pick her instead.
TD Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 she isnt bannable. just really good. it should be noted that you actually do need to learn things with her and get some time in the lab in order to get good results. ln fact, no top tier in this game is really easy to just pick up(except noel in my own biased opinion lol), or anyone for that matter, and mostly everyone can win in the game now. lk how do buy and play the same game that you are playing. lts obvious that all the top/jp bb players are always catching something im not. its hard trying to understand and apply advanced things, it really is. now how can l learn mindgames when im not even past the average skill level yet.
St1ckBuG Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 but it seems like Makoto is now confirmed to be God (Bannable) Tier in the game, i guess I can pick her instead.
Rhiya Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 now how can l learn mindgames when im not even past the average skill level yet. In my limited experience, it's a hell of a lot easier to learn/run mindgames after you've played against them a lot yourself or if your current opponent is running them against you. If your opponent is only gonna play level zero, it's hard to put in that effort, and some mindgames are so much easier to get once you see them in-match. For me, I also need the knowledge. I like playing against Ragna in one way, because I know what his blockstrings "say," and that raises the bar both for what my opponent can do /and/ what I can do in response. I don't have that level of exp against enough charas.
Fireryda Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 With the new tier list and arakune being near the bottom. Do you agree with this? And what do you think their justification for putting him so low is ? Having a decent pressure game, floaty as hell and being ridiculously hard to catch for many characters while having crazy damage off one slip-up and curse being a free mix-up into massive damage while also being able to build most of the curse bar through bnbs doesn't seem like a weak character.
atdsutm Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 . it should be noted that you actually do need to learn things with her and get some time in the lab in order to get good results. ln fact, no top tier in this game is really easy to just pick up that goes with all of the characters in the game i know, im just asking obviously on a on who among the top tier is currently the easiest (braindead simple) to use relatively, but it seems makoto is definitely on her own level now and that makes it easy for me to decide thank god decided not to invest too much on lambda in this version btw tager is definitely free
Romeyurhomey Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 thank god decided not to invest too much on lambda in this version btw tager is definitely free Tager is gdlyke in America.
Lord Knight Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 i just need a quick secondary, but why noel anyways? She's easy and annoying, and you don't have to put much effort. For the most part, people will have to adjust to your playstyle rather than the other way around. Press D and magical things will happen. LK, how do you feel about the defense system in CS2? Being a Litchi player I feel like I don't get that much of a reward for being defensive unless it's meter gain =/. I don't really understand what you mean. How does the defense system relate to "being defensive"? I feel like the defensive mechanics in CS2 are fine as they are. lk how do buy and play the same game that you are playing. lts obvious that all the top/jp bb players are always catching something im not. its hard trying to understand and apply advanced things, it really is. now how can l learn mindgames when im not even past the average skill level yet. Push yourself. You definitely have the knowledge, you just need to try the stuff that you've learned. Of course you'll run into people who are just weak and the advanced tactics won't be necessary. That's why I also think it's best to play anyone, no matter what their skill level is. Strive to always improve, learn more and update your character's playstyle. To be honest, I don't consider the stuff I do to be "mindgames". With the new tier list and arakune being near the bottom. Makes me feel like Arakune is an even shittier character than I thought. Basically, whoever wrote that tier list must think that an Arakune that can't win off one curse is not good. I agree with this, since his damage output outside of curse is more or less non-existant. Also, I feel like Arakune's matchups are very win/lose, and he doesn't have many even matches. Despite his "weakness", there are still very strong Arakune players out there, and he still operates under the "I just have to make you block D" mantra (hitting them with D is a bonus). The bad part is that he might have to repeat the process 2 times in one round, which is too much against 1 hit > death Hazama or Makoto. The weaker zoners are also much stronger this game, giving him way more problems.
CrazyI-nomitsu Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 My questions: I find it strange Jin players back off of Tager when they are applying the pressure to him. Why do they do that? And is plat really bad as I have been hearing?
Skye Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Arakune is most capable of killing in one curse period, with the use of his many resets, plus with corner (lol CS2) he has an unblockable, DP/gold burst proof reset that has 100p1 on both the low and the overhead. The more health the character has the better their chances, but then with max meter Arakune can recurse as well. :/ His potential is yet to be realized.
