unsanctifier Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 ok so, relius v taokaka is most likely a terrible match-up =\
Kurushii Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Maybe slightly in Tao's favor but I wouldn't say terrible. The ones that are imo noticeable bad matchups for him are Arakune, and Valk (and maybe Haku but need to see more). Edited December 29, 2011 by Kurushii
unsanctifier Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I was told that someone saw Relius' 2C stuff Haku's dash hotaru. =\ Also relius' backdash can evade sparkbolt
Kurushii Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Yea 2C may stuff it but I see Haku's normals are a huge threat to Relius's 214A entry. I really need to play around with his backdash. I didn't know it was that good. Good info unsanctifier. :3
unsanctifier Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Iunno about 2C against hotaru myself, I mean it may have been a fluke for all we know. Question, does 236C count as a projectile?
Kurushii Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Question, does 236C count as a projectile? Haven't tested. I played around with 214A two nights ago against Cirno's Platinum doing pogo since it gained projectile invinc and it went through. I'm at work now so can't test but I say grab a character with a projectile invinc move and see if it whiffs against it.
soujiro seta Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Hey guys I have a question. This is something I haven't seen in vids yet. Carl uses 2A/5A stagger to set up unblockables sometimes. In between 2A/5A stagger we input 2D(overhead)/3D(low) then right before nirvana hits we do a low/high. So we'll do 2a/5a for nirvana to recover from her last move, then 5B 2B (slight delay) 6B. 2A 5A 2A 5A 5B 2D 2B (slight delay) 6B(2D hits). We don't have to use 2A/5A but I was just giving an example. Can Relius do this cause I only see them doing his unblocks after gear super or on his opponents wakeup. Is it possible to go into unblocks with Relius during blockstun/hitstun like carl can? You delay his normals and input ignis' moves during the delay then right when she hits you do the opposite to make it unblockable.
unsanctifier Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Ignis' lows and highs are command inputs, they make relius input a relatively length animation. It is really unsafe to do during pressure unless your opponent is super dead omg scared of you.
mAc Chaos Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I was told that someone saw Relius' 2C stuff Haku's dash hotaru. =\ Also relius' backdash can evade sparkbolt As far as AAing Hotaru goes, there's two ways to do it. The first is to use a move whose hurtbox is low enough that it dodges the actual move, and has long active frames, like Nu's 2C. That way you dodge the move and the move lasts long enough to beat Hotaru's invincibility. The other is to use an AA like Ragna's 6A late enough that you catch Hotaru through the back end of the invincibility and hit them out of the recovery. If you do it too early you'll either get CH or both moves will whiff. Of course, if the Hakumen expects you to do an AA, which isn't exactly unheard of, then they can delay their Hotaru too.

We use it during pressure as well. For instance 2A 5A 5B 41236D late 2B(to take off some time out of fuoco's startup) late 5C (fuoco hits). Fuoco has a long start up. Nirvana's moves have longer startup than ignis', but we use slight delays and input the carls normals late during blockstun/hitsun to make up for it. We input nirvana's move during the delays. When I say late, i mean you delay the normal long enough till where it would still combo and if they try to mash they will get hit. If you did 2A 5A 5B 41236D 2B 5C, the opponent would have a free punish after 5C as fuoco wouldn't connect. When you do late 2B/5C, if they do something without invincibility they will get hit by fuoco. I'm asking the same thing. Can you delay his normals/input his normals late and in between the delays input her moves to do unblockables? Edited December 29, 2011 by soujiro seta

Doing Ignis' high/low moves cause Relius himself to do a small animation before he can continue to do anything, not Ignis.

I didnt know that thanks for the clarification. That sucks. I always wondered why they couldn't just do unblocks during strings, now it makes sense . Carl also goes through animations when you input nirvana's moves, but his normals/specials/DDs take precedence over his nirvana animation calls. That explains it all
Urichinan Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 :D They picked a great person for Mod. Congrats Kurushii!
LunarSelenia Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Woo~ Congrats Kurushii on mod status =3
Kurushii Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks everyone. Won't let you all down. Going to make the Relius section shine in content. :3 @Chaos I will when I get out of work. :D
Toasty Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Congrats to Kurushii, but also thank you for all of the info you have been adding to this subforum. It has been quite helpful. Also I think in the next week or so, we should get matchup threads up so we can start discussing those as well. Has anyone seen a particular style that the other subforums use that works well, or should we just use our own? I personally like how the Valk boards divide up the info, but it could be that I'm just comfortable/familiar with it.
Urichinan Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Ha, also congrats to Toasty! I agree that we should use a similar layout to the Valkenhayn and Platinum matchup threads, it's very informative. A few examples: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11730-vs-Litchi http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11825-CS2-Vs-Taokaka http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11822-CS2-Vs-Ragna
Kurushii Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Lets all give a round of applause to Toasty! :D
Toasty Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Toasty get a bigger Relius face D:< Alright, I will lol.
