Xie Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 Feeling kinda sick... not sure if I should cancel or just go through with it X_X
CakeWasBannedd Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Feeling kinda sick... not sure if I should cancel or just go through with it X_X DUSTY VIRUS STRIKES AGAIN go through with it, then go to bed early
Xie Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 Yeah... I'm really sorry but I gotta cancel tonight too. I promise I'm not gonna make a habit of this, but I'm just not confident I can delivery my 100% in a legit lesson today.
Tari Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Xie, you didn't actually dodge the bullet, eh? Dusty virus lays in wait for you to lower your guard. Anyway, recovering from illness is definitely more important than doing the show.
Tengato Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 All this theory about blockstrings is very interesting, but does it even apply if my inputs are not frame-perfect?
Airk Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 All this theory about blockstrings is very interesting, but does it even apply if my inputs are not frame-perfect? Yes, because you actually have at least a 5 frame window to do your inputs due to the advanced input functionality. I also expect that due to the way gatlings work, you can probably push the button even earlier and it'll still cancel you into your next move as soon as it can.
the_difinitive Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 All this theory about blockstrings is very interesting, but does it even apply if my inputs are not frame-perfect? yes, because your opponent isn't a robot. they most likely can't see that you've done what would be a safe move 2 frames late and punish it with a DP. you can have gigantic frame gaps if your opponent doesn't react quickly. if you find that you're not being fast enough then either a) practice or b) choose a different blockstring that lets you close that gap more. also like Airk said, you're probably more frame-perfect than you think you are thanks to advanced input.
Xie Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Tonight's show is on schedule! As promised, we'll talk about what happens when your combo ends!
Mystic d Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Ah I forgot about this! Sorry Xie! I'll be sure to catch the next one! Are you doing a Thanksgiving show? And what's the next lesson going to cover?
Xie Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) Ffffffffffrrghhhhhhhh. I have the click of doom. My HD is fubar so I don't know if I'm going to be able to do another show soon. I'm gonna try using my old laptop, but I can't make any promises until I have it totally fixed... Edit: Fixed my computer! Albeit too late to actually prep for tonight's show. Perhaps we should watch some match videos and talk about stuff tonight? Edited November 25, 2011 by Xie
Xie Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Tonight's episode, Episode 8, is going to be about an opponent's Air Teching. Edit: At 11/25/11 8PM PST.
Star-Demon Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I love participating in this show, but it's on so late I just have to prioritize. I'm behind now and it makes me sadface.
Xie Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Tonight, 11/29/11, at 8PM PST, we'll talk about Oki, specifically Emergency Techs and depending on how long it ends up taking, maybe more on that.
Tari Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Xie, have you considered watching/commentating on some less-than-great matches? During your viewing streams, I mean. The reason I'm wondering is because, when you look at streams of by-and-large good players, you're commenting on what they're doing right, what techniques they're using, etc. What you aren't getting a good chance to discuss is what they're doing wrong. In a match where one of the players isn't quite as good as the other, or simply makes a lot of mistakes, perhaps talking about what's going wrong is worthwhile? Feel free to ignore what I said if you've done this or considered it already. I've missed some of your streams, so I might be saying redundant or pointless shit. >_>; Just figured I'd mention it before I forgot again, though.
Azgard12 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 (edited) I just wanted to thank you, Xie. I posted elsewhere that I really needed help learning this game, saying this: So, I really want to get better at this game. I have this (as well as BlazBlue Calamity Trigger) and I cannot get better no matter what it seems I do. I cannot beat Score Attack on BB:CT (let alone get but a few stages in), and I cannot complete Arcade Mode on any real difficulty. I am not looking to be any dominant force in multi-player, simply to get better at understanding a game I have a passion for, and yet simply cannot improve. I've played many genres, but the fighting genre leaves me very disappointed in myself. I feel as though I am best at using Noel, though I am willing to learn any character. I do not have an actual fight stick, only the controllers I own. In case it is of concern, I believe I am an intelligent individual with capable reflexes, but I fail to grasp what exactly it is I am looking for. I am beginning to learn that the fighting genre is truly one that requires someone to be taught and also to practice. If anyone has tips, I'm willing to learn. If anyone wants to help me in any way, I will consider their assistance a debt which I will try my best to repay.I was referred to this thread and this site and I am SO GLAD I ended up here. There is so much I did not know and I'm only though Episode 3. You're doing an amazing service to a community and I will do my best to help recruit my friends. Maybe we can even scrub it up and come to a tournament somewhere sometime (I get free flights, so its possible). Thank you, thank you, thank you. Edited November 30, 2011 by Azgard12

Xie Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) Next Episode, 12/8/2011 at 8PM PST. We're going to talk about getting hit. Edit: Been updating the youtube and the schedule up until the end of the year. Edited December 7, 2011 by Xie
Xie Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Hell yeah triple post. Next Episode is 12/13/2011 at 8PM PST. It'll be on defense and defensive mindset. MEGA IMPORTANT LESSON.
kirbster Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I'll definitely be watching that one. My defense needs a lot of work.
