CP is also another step in the right direction~ A different path but still in the right direction.

I dunno, at least for Mugen, it looks like for once they've ACTUALLY STUCK to the same path they were trying to use in the previous game, which is a RADICAL departure from their previous "Well, we didn't like how that turned out, so we're basically going to change everything about how this character is supposed to work." method. Though humorously, it's not really changes to Mugen, per se, that made it better.

Unfortunately, basing a character around a single mode change super will pretty much always be a dumb idea, but there are still better and worse ways of implementing it, and more iterations on the same idea are more likely to lead to a better implementation.

Now if they just realized that our charge moves should be about as good as Hakumen's specials, as they are both consumable resource using techniques, we'd be in good shape. ;)

Mugen is pretty silly this time around. 7k+ from 2 charges is no joke.

This thread has too many shouldve, wouldve, and couldve's. Lets just focus on what we have and build on them.

Well, Arc Revo is kind of handled weird. Guess it can't be helped when they have to play like 150-ish matches in sub-2 hours.

Either way, Konan and Kuresu both won their first matches.

Pikuri lost to Dogura.

Kazu@Ginga lost his 1st match.

Kuresu won his 2nd match.

Konan won his 2nd match.

Next up: Kuresu vs Galileo(Litchi) and Konan vs Zekuso(Valk)

no, i'm going by what is said in chat. I hope not. I haven't seen any tsubaki action yet =/

Cause I thought I heard Kuresu was out and Konan was in.

Well, we'll see after the next batch of matches, since they'll probably call out/show top 8.

=(

They made it farther than i expected.

now to pick who i want to win out of the last 8.

I made a screencap, I guess I could link it here, hold on.

TOP8:

RYO(Relius)

Galileo(Litchi)

Zekuso(Valkenhayn)

Abarenja(Mu-12)

Daiwa(Platinum)

Dogura(Azrael)

N-Otoko(Rachel)

Tsujikawa(Taokaka)

Ah it was Abarenja. I had a brain fart on the 8th person.

I think i'm leaning towards N-O. I'd be fine with Dogura,RYO, and Daiwa as well.

There lies the dilemma. I want Dogura to win because Azrael but I don't want to travel to Japan to kill Daiwa if he gets bopped immediately in the top 8 after beating Goro to get there.

Fuck it, I got time. I'll book plane tickets now. Let's go Dogura.

i have a question about tsubaki, but not about her gameplay but rather about how to fight her. I tend to have moderate to severe trouble subduing skilled tsubaki players. so i figured if anyone knew how to impede her it would be a tsubaki player. any advice you might have is appriecieted.

I'm guessing from your avatar that you play Hakumen;

There are no magic tricks in beating Tsubaki with Hakumen; You have better tools than she does, overall, however, so the advantage is generally yours. You don't want to back off, because Tsubaki is generally more managable if she doesn't have a lot of time to charge, but flying at her with air dashes is a bad idea because those are very easy for her to beat down with 2C. Space patiently with your normals and if you decide to approach from the air, but sure to use your double jumps to keep things tricky.

If she is hitting you with the unblockable on your wakeup, try altering your neutral tech timing so that the attack passes through you during your invulnerable frames.

You MAY also be able to mash 6D after 5B and catch 5BB, but I'm not 100% sure of that one. (Stupid 5BB.)

Also, there's more information on this matchup in the matchup thread. There's also a corresponding one in the Hakumen forums, though it's mostly what I just said here.

If you don't play Hakumen, well, you suck for not telling us what character you play. :P

Thanks for the advice. Haha yeah i play hakumen. but i also play valk and lambda. and yeah i'm fairly certain you can catch 5bb. though from experience i've learned that mashing zanshin is almost guaranteed to get you punished. but yeah i'll check out the match-up thread.

5B>5BB always has at least a 1 frame gap, so you can mash 2D or 6D on it. 5B chains into 6A and all of her low options though, so if you start countering, a good Tsubaki will just start mixing up between high and low on you (or just charge cancel 5B and wait for you to hang yourself).

I hold one direction the first time, then switch directions the other time. It can be blocked either way, even though there should be at least a 4 frame gap between the j.C and j.236C. Delaying the j.236C to see if it's some weird crossup prevention shenanigans will result in the j.214D not comboing.

Tsubaki almost had something nice that's fairly easy to set up, but nah.

Merged the tricks and gimmicks thread with the strategy guide.
