Played Extend at an arcade. I honestly couldn't tell I was playing Extend lol (in regards to Rachel changes). Relius though I had no idea what I was doing.

Sort of last minute I got to go play so I didn't study up on anything beforehand. Methodically pressed buttons and tried joystick motions to see stuff. I watched videos when I got back and facepalmed when I saw a real combo. Whatever I was doing was stupid -_-

Spammed j.2C > special cancel as my "victory" thing whenever I had a chance :yaaay:

I thought Rachel mains were good eggs. Turns out they are all bad apples!!

We're all beautiful and you know it.

On a more serious note, I think a lot of people could benefit from reading about this study (especially salty netplayers):

http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/oct07/vol65/num02/The-Perils-and-Promises-of-Praise.aspx

A long but worth it read about the different ways people approach the same problem of learning. There are two groups:

- one that believes intelligence (or skill) is innate ("bad")

- the other group believes it is something that grows ("good")

protip: having the latter school of thought is better.

Almost done with college and this is pretty much what happens at the upper-level.

Were you living under a rock? I'm corrupted to the marrow of my bones, you'll need a Rachel like me.

Time to get the dust off my uniform.

Well, to be exact, one's "skill" or "talent" is always the result of the interaction between genes and the environment.

Of course praising effort is better than praising intelligence. The former is something they can improve upon and the latter is just a compliment. Manipulation 101.

Case 1:

"You are really smart, imouto."

"tehehe~"

Case 2:

"You must have worked hard, imouto."

(cue waterworks) "onii-chan wahhhhhhhhh! You know what? I worked really hard. I worked really hard to be the best imouto I can be!"

As for whether or not intelligence is fixed, I think it is fixed. But in 95% of situations more effort would have made the difference between success and failure. The discrepancies in intelligence among people you meet in college aren't really large enough to matter except in very rare cases.

I'm going to agree with kro on this. I'm also going to agree with his exact examples, because they're the best possible examples a person could ask for.

Imouto award.

Yeah pretty much that. Pre-existing ability exists but it's not until you have exhausted all possible effort through deliberate practice that you'll see the (small margin) of difference the innate skill makes.

Were you living under a rock?

My rock living quarters are located high above Japan. I guess you could say I ROCK OVER JAPAN.
