pochp Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 6C > stein > jump is safe on block, but 5C > 6C is not the safest blockstring. If you get read, a lot of characters can punish you for it, tager can sledge it, hakuman can counter if close enough, bang can guardpoint > teleport, that's the most obvious stuff, but there are others as well. I use 5c 6c blockstring only when I want to frame trap (or autopilot into it by accident).
LunaKage Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Noel can make it whiff with 4D, but you wont get hit by it, we can cancel in Assault Through and it will connect though. Not sure if we'll get a CH though, but if we do, that's a guaranteed 3k+
Her_Omen Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) Yeah, 6D is very readible 6C is very unreliable (and readable) alone. I either autopilot into it on mistake, or I end up messing up the 63214C input, and that somehow comes out as a 6C. Possibly hitting C to soon in the movement... I usually find myself only placing a turret at a time as I play my runaway game, but sometimes I'll toss them out on a whim after certain moves toss my opponent away. Fought a Jin earlier that stomped the ever loving crap out of me. Getting pressure is rough on Mu. Not sure yet what move to use after having to block a decent amount of pressure at all... Nemesis Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 i would highly recommend understanding character and even player patterns of movement and tactics WELL BEFORE you start your 6C yomi
C0R Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Hey man, I totally started out with yomi 6c too. But before that came fishing for j.2c CH's. Oooo yeah.
Nemesis Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 yea cause that worked sooooo well for us... ~_~
SolarMisae Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hey man, I totally started out with yomi 6c too. But before that came fishing for j.2c CH's. Oooo yeah. CS1 mashing on j.2C like a boss. That groundbounce.
Her_Omen Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 So my Lawlsy moment of the day: I was in a match against a Hakumen player, and I placed a turret just before he set up to do his distortion and the laser hit him in the back and interrupted the whole thing. I don't know why, but it was very hilarious when it happened. I've had a lot of random moments where the steins...I guess that's their proper name, yes? Makes me want to scream READING STEINER~ Anyway, now that I am done distracting myself~ I've had a lot of random occurances where the lasers would just interupt people's combos, and distortions. If I was to equate what happened to that Hakumen to anything it was like he lifted his sword and yelled his attack just to get tapped on the shoulder and saying "Huh?" and turning to a laser in the face.

I was also autopiloting it for the most part since I don't know what else to do after they block 5C. (Day one Mu here lol) I'll go ahead and start watching videos to learn some stuff.
YukiBlue Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Too many Mu players. I think im going to go main Arakune or Carl. honestly though, start with Mu however you want. I starter off mashing 6C praying for a FC and spamming j.C. ....I still do it now, to be honest, But I can tell if it's going to hit or not. I can't help getting all warm and fuzzy when I hear "FAYTAL!" I'm just like "Bitch gimme that 7K"
cookiehours Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I need to work on just using 5C and all the options it comes with it. I'm trying to get over autopiloting 5C/6C too. Also, my zoning against Tager could be tighter. I don't know if it's just me but I get intimidated by that near full screen sledge. It's something I need to get used to for Extend, I guess.
Her_Omen Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 So I'll probably just mess around in the lab today and discover some things as well as practice with things in Challenge mode again. Apply some of the things said to me and try to get inputs down more. Then get a friend to practice with on online so I can get over my nerves...

Her_Omen Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Train with me. =3 Soooo many problems today with net. So I'll mostly just do challenge and training. I couldn't even make a simple input work. I did 63214C like 10 times in a row to practice the movement before I went onto Netplay, and then when I got into Netplay it kept turning up as a 6C...It really was getting aggrevating after not having trouble the day before at all between CS and CSEx. I will train with ya when I know my net isn't being so goofy, but then again we might not have issues being both on the East Coast.

Go to training mode and turn on input display, I imagine you're hitting C before completing the motion. Though I can't blame you, it took me a good while to get 632146c perfect at the speed I complete it these days.
Her_Omen Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Well, at most I know my inputs for Directions are off. Why I spent the money for an octagon gate. I'm hoping that helps with that part. And yeah, I finally saw that air grab damage. 2000? That's larger than the bite-grab from Valkenhayn, but then again it feels pretty difficult to set up into. I tried doing it after a 2C for launch, but usually only worked when against the wall, and I'm thinking of doing j.D into j.2C to help with timing if its possible without being too unsafe...
Lord Pwnge18 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 You could always go for silly mind-games and try to air grab them at the start of a round.
YukiBlue Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 You'll be surprised how often that actually works ^
Amethyst Reitou Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Heh... looking at things, I can't help but feel like I'm jumping on a bandwagon here. Not worried though, and I've always wanted to really learn how to play Mu since CS1, but always just kinda moved away from her cause it always seemed like it would be difficult. But, after much debate and playing on CS2 (on both my 360 and 3DS as fun as it is), I finally am just going to take the plunge and do it. So I'm picking up Mu here in Ex, and actively searching for people to play/practice with and to learn things. I expect I'll spend most of my time here while I try to beat out my urge to just mindlessly rush in on my foe. I've already started to mentally beat myself for using 6C when I'm too close to my foe for it to even attempt to hit, and trying to not spam and trust in my Steins Gunner to hit and work. Anyway, I hope to learn more and help out with people when I can as well. ^_^;
Lord Pwnge18 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Even more new Mu players? AWW SHIT, WE MAIN HEROINE NOW
pochp Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Welcome! The bandwagon is a lie, this awesome character needs more players. Mu is very fun and rewarding , with many options at any given point. Protip : don't use 6c outside of combos, period. Well, at most I know my inputs for Directions are off. Why I spent the money for an octagon gate. I'm hoping that helps with that part. Don't be the guy with the hipster gate who can't use everyone else's stick. Real talk though, I prefer the square gate for DP motions so I can really feel that corner. Most of the time you don't really touch the edges though. If you want advice to help with your execution, step into training mode, put on some good music, and grind out some combos nonstop. I did that for a few hours a day the first weekend we got CS2 to get the new combos down, and my execution got a lot better in the process (though it still isn't reliable when I get stressed -_-). ps: don't combo into airthrow unless it's a particular situation or a setup. If you really want to be a cheap ass and abuse netplay, end your corner combos with (...j.2c) 2b 5b 6a airthrow.
SolarMisae Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Octo-gate is trash. I know because I used it myself and was all like "Oh yeah this is much better." Basically, when first learning stick a LOT of people do whats known as "riding the gate." Which means you press up hard against the edge of the gate. With a square gate, this can make 214 and 236 motions feel awkward. This trick is to NOT push against the edge. Once you learn not to do that the octo gate makes it hard to find those corners. You'll end up on 2 when you meant to be on 3. Once I got used to a stick and stopped pushing against the edge I started fucking up those inputs. Frequently. I put the square gate back in a few days later and never looked back.
Lord Pwnge18 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 !! Holy junk, Solar, that's the exact situation I was in, just about. I have the square gate, and when I first started using it, (3 weeks ago) I was thinking of getting an octo one cuz the 214 and 236 motions were fuckin weird, but then after I continued using it, (for 3 weeks) I'm now able to do the motions pretty perfectly without touching the sides.
Lythium Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Octo gate feels way too mushy. Awesome, more Mu peeps. :3
