Devdan Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Reading comprehension level: Grade school I was explaining how it works with an example of bad business practice for the consumer(us), obviously you can't read I had nothing to say about the game itself. Anyway on topic, the 21st can't come sooner, I want to see Litchi, and Azreal do werk. Yeah, I've read it all a thousand times. It starts out civil enough, then comes the name calling, and suddenly anyone whose caps lock isn't stuck on is working for capcom. CAPCOPS, CA$HCOM, CRAPCOM, CAPKOOL-AID, been there done that. I hope this game has some kind of special single player mode that's worth playing. It won't, but I hope it does. Arcade mode is no fun anymore.
Chaoschao222 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 What's a "special single player mode," game already had Score Attack to make solo more "exciting."
Hecatom Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 It would be cool for those who care if they add a mode where you can use the bonuses of abyss mode on a versus mode like herald and heroes.
Narroo Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 It would be cool for those who care if they add a mode where you can use the bonuses of abyss mode on a versus mode like herald and heroes. You know, if you name had a "b" at the end, it your name would be a "Hecatomb," which is a sacrifice of 100 cattle to the Greek Gods. In other news, I'd like a multiplayer version of that conquer mode. What was it called again? The chess like one. I'd think if you could make a team based chess mode where you had two commanders pitting their friends against opponents in a strategic fashion, that could be incredibly fun.

I know, i purposely took off the b and e (in spanish Hecatomb is Hecatombe) to use it as a name for a character in a story that i wrote. I have this feeling that they have a lot of cool ideas on those single player modes that could work for multiplayer that they are not taking advantage of. Abyss and that mode could be expanded for multiplayer, and i know that many non serious players would love them
Litherain-XIII Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I stil want an online training mode in player rooms where the host and 1 person in the room can both join the same training mode and play against each other and stuff and a further expansion on this in general.
Rishtopher Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Maybe they want to test the waters for all the characters in general in play before they add Nu and Mu since they are zoners and mostly everyone else is a rushdown or whatnot. Perhaps they wanna see how the cast fair enough without them in the equation to see how balance it will be before they start to hit the blueprint for the murokumos and nerf certain things to match the balance they want without doing too many iterations to change every character, furthering more rebalance patches/games in the process. But then again they could do this during loketest anyhow so it beats me other than they havent finished stuff with Mu and Nu... What you're saying kinda makes sense to me, but then you mentioned that they could do the same in the loketests (which is what I was thinking too), so I still don't get why they just don't do more loketests and release the game with everyone in it. Not that it matters much to me since we'll probably have everything ready by the time it comes to console. Does it make more money for them to do it this way? Where you have an influx of people coming in just to see/try those characters? If it's the same either way, then I don't get it. About single player modes: I really liked Abyss and would like for it to come back, but I wouldn't mind something different. I was also kind of sad to see Legion mode go in CSEX, maybe they can bring that back with different ideas implemented.
destruction_adv Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Legion mode would be more fun if it wasn't the exact same every time. That would be a nice improvement, and an extra menu thing where you can add crazy abyss mode stats in vs. would be fun (I want to have the rainbow aura in vs.)

Playing on a small black board, with bad music, slowly inching your way across the map? Not too entertaining.

I suspect that adding more characters AFTER launch serves to refresh people's interest in the game. If you throw everyone out there at once, people play them all, settle in, and establish the status quo much earlier on than if you add new characters to shake things up a bit. I'm not sure I entirely agree about their CHOICE of WHICH characters to use as the 'time locked' folks, but I understand the principle. About single player modes: I really liked Abyss and would like for it to come back, but I wouldn't mind something different. I didn't really find either of these modes particularly satisfying, but apparently I'm in the minority.
Chaoschao222 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I would have liked to see Abyss as a training and vs option, since it basically adds a whole new level of combo theory with quad jumps, meter reduction, and more... but anyways, not a wishlisting thread, hype hype hype, can't wait for next week, dem themes~

I think it's the closest we're gonna get to an answer until I ask someone at ASW or some other company in the industry. Maybe Nu and Mu are some of the most popular characters? I know that Izayoi will definitely draw attention.
Hecatom Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 hype hype hype, can't wait for next week, dem themes~ Word, the only thing that annoys me is that i am sure that at least a good chunk of the 1st videos would have some annoying japanese commenting :/ I can agree with that. Rishtopher Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I suspect that they being time locked is more related to Story stuff than anything I guess that's a possibility, but I suspect it has more to do with making money (I'm trying to think about this from a business perspective).
Halcyone3 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Word, the only thing that annoys me is that i am sure that at least a good chunk of the 1st videos would have some annoying japanese commenting :/ This is currently my greatest fear. Game comes out, 2 weeks of nothing but super loud announcers repeating random crud and ruining the music for me =,= I'm hoping for some quick vids of just the music with no sound effects or anything As for why leave characters to be released later, there might be several reasons, we can't really say for sure unless ASW confirms anything, which to be honest they have no reason to do. Maybe the changes to Mu and Nu took longer to implement than they thought, and maybe Izayoi was not ready on time. If they did, they can't really just go "oh shit, better delay", sometimes there's a hard deadline that must be met. At least look at the bright side, the characters will get added. Some games end up not having a lot of features that were thought for it because there was no time to implement them Another bright side, release date for those three makes for a perfect excuse to throw a patch if some crazy game breaking thing pops up, like Carl's bloody clap loop in CT. Hecatom Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I guess that's a possibility, but I suspect it has more to do with making money (I'm trying to think about this from a business perspective). Which is not mutually exclusive with the possibility of them being locked for story reasons, after all, one of the appeals of BB (at least for a part of the consumer base) is the story.

Weren't Nu and Hakumen locked for story reasons? Or am I remembering wrong?
Starlight777 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Word, the only thing that annoys me is that i am sure that at least a good chunk of the 1st videos would have some annoying japanese commenting :/ Yeah I don't expect to hear any themes until after all the hype settles on the game's release.
AchedSphinx Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Yeah, I believe Nu was, and people found out how incredibly good and broken she was.

Of course, and I agree with you. I just didn't think many people in the FGC cared about the story, so I assumed that by extension, a lot of people playing at the arcades didn't as well. Based on what Starlight's saying, I'm kinda nervous about Nu and Mu upon release, but I'm confident I won't have to worry about that on console lol.

I love the BB story -- its what endears the series on me... and explain why your nervous about the murakumos (and Im gonna assume Izayoi as well) they arent boss characters anymore?
Starlight777 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I think the only way Nu would turn out broken is if they give her back her CT Act Parser. Mu on the other hand was never a broken character, she was just obnoxious to play against.

I love the story too. I'm not actually like, worried, I meant I think that Nu and Mu (along with Izayoi probably) will probably be really unbalanced lol. Like I said though, I don't care since I'm sure it'll be fine once it hits console. As for why leave characters to be released later, there might be several reasons, we can't really say for sure unless ASW confirms anything, which to be honest they have no reason to do. Some games end up not having a lot of features that were thought for it because there was no time to implement them I get that if they only decided on adding those characters in midway through development, but if they knew from the start then I don't really understand the reasoning besides story and changing the status quo of the game (which I think is a good enough reason all things considered).
NeoStrayCat Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Yeah I don't expect to hear any themes until after all the hype settles on the game's release. Dat hype for dem themes...
