Starlight777 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I hope guard bonus remedies the meter LOSS on block. That is just a turd waiting to explode Reaching 50 heat for a counter assault, only to have it yanked away by 3-4 heat. *trollface*
Myoro Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 from looking at that brief gameplay from BBradio it seems Terumi doesn't steal gauge, (from Haku at least.) I don't think it'd be any different for any of his other victims so I think he just gets an absurd amount of meter from his drive.
LeDom Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Wow, Terumi just might become the biggest troll character in existence. I hope they'll at least balance him by giving him either low hp or low damage output. Or they just make him like Robo-Ky, meaning that he'll be borderline useless without meter.

I hope they don't do any of this, and luckily I don't think they will. Of course he will be useless w/o meter, but he has already been confirmed to get roughly 75+ heat easily in a 4 hit braindead combo so not having meter will likely not be a problem. (he can get 35 heat from his 5D alone. unless I'm mistaken)

I don't think it'd be any different for any of his other victims so I think he just gets an absurd amount of meter from his drive. His drive's draining ability is definitely mentioned in articles, his overdrive is also supposed to increase said draining ability. Hakumen is just a special case.
Myoro Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Haku's gauge implys differently here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEwyAwoC4sk Edit: whoops I made a stupid and missed the last part of your message. Personally I don't think they would make an exception for haku, the whole Idea of stealing makes sense if you view it like this: Ragna steals health by taking it out of the opponents vitality, what if Terumi did something more akin to that? I can easily see the amount of meter "taken" being proportionate to how much damage is being dealt to the enemy and how many mind eater attacks were in the combo. In a way the meter is being stolen from their health bar. My reason for thinking this is firstly because the drive name Mind eater is similar to Ragna's soul eater, and also because I don't believe haku should or would get the only free pass out of a meter stealing drive. still this is all conjecture at this point Edited September 3, 2013 by Myoro
Litherain-XIII Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Or in short certain moves give him meter while draining opponents meter of the said amount and other moves give him large amounts of meter without actually draining the opponents meter at all.
Dazardz Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Eithere way, does this mean he can spam crush trigger?
darkasjinksu§ Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Eithere way, does this mean he can spam crush trigger? Outside of combos, yes. Unless, in the most probable case, all heat draining/stealing/whatever moves are horribly negative on block. Edited September 3, 2013 by darkasjinksu§
AMB Bakery Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Eithere way, does this mean he can spam crush trigger? I don't know, do you think you can mash out of a move that has 30f start-up after seeing it spammed? What I'm still most worried about are the numbers we saw from the loketest. Some of his supers just did far too much damage, even (especially) raw. As for meter, I'm sure a smart Terumi player would just wait for the next 25 meter so they can rapid cancel into sick mix-ups (if he has them, we don't know yet. At the very least he could rapid some move with high blockstun and go for frame-trap/tick throw) or use the meter to counter-assault whenever someone gets in, making it very frustrating for the opponent (or at least forcing them to be on their toes). Super is of course an option, but as for right now, it's only the skewed numbers that make his supers stupid, I don't think any of them are inherently/mechanically broken (well except for maybe that one where he walks forward and is a catch-counter, that sounds pretty dumb).
BlackYakuzu94 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Like someone said on the last page, I'm pretty sure most of Terumi's moves will have SMP to prevent him from loops that grant him the meter he may have just lost.
Kikirin Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 SMP's a good solution - he totally respects it already when not fighting for serious!
AMB Bakery Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 SMP's a good solution - he totally respects it already when not fighting for serious! That's a really specific example, mainly because Hazama chains have stupid untechable time in overdrive but also because 5C is his best starter, so even the proration multiplier has less effect than usual. If you watch any match with normal combos, when the person does an SMP move, they emergency tech within 15 frames or (more often) less. I don't think loops (at least involving supers) are too much to worry about because even with his high meter gain, there's still the issue of heat gain cooldown.

Dark Ranger88 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I think we're missing the most lethal application of Terumi's drive here. The ability to RC into Taunt twice during a combo and still build enough heat to finish with a distortion that stomps their face into the pavement.

Teutonicknight Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 It's like I'm watching CS1 again. Agreed. Isn't it beautiful? lol
Gespenst Ritter Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I'm gonna laugh if it turns out that while everyone is pissing themselves over Terumi, Kagura's the one who ends up super broken.
spaghetti Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Tell me when Kagura is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, and MAYBE he's going to be broken.
Dreiko Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Tell me when Kagura is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, and MAYBE he's going to be broken. Fujiwara Keiji is actually even higher tier.
Tokkan Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Inafune Keiji is actually even higher tier. Fujiwara, not Inafune. Mighty No.9 on the brain? (Isn't MN9 on everyone's brains?)
