He's not a quitter, not even in the other failed timelines. Jubei training him, of course he's going to say "i can't do it yet" because he was just a kid. They basically had to pluck someone out of the ordinary life he liked (before it got ruined) and force him into being the hero for the sake of breaking the timelines. Plus he has a huge chip on his shoulder from what happened with Jin and the orphanage, so of course he's going to want to go act on it. That's the opposite of quitting.

Yeah after FAILING time and again for 724 phases because he takes his life for granted and gives up when the going gets tough! Perhaps I wasn't clear or you completely failed to understand the point of his character development not to mention the theme of the whole series?

Except he doesn't give up when the going gets tough. When he has to fight Hakumen in CT, he's scared but fights on which is the opposite of a quitter. Even when he's impaled by Nu and dragged into the Cauldron he's still resisting, instead of giving up. He failed 724 times because the fight is impossible for him to win alone. Even in the True Ending he failed to win and the loops would of continued if Noel hadn't been there.

His whole development is about him learning to never accept defeat or allow others to control him. It's about him fighting for himself and refusing to give in to his impulse to take the easy way out. He's a badass and I personally find it inspiring considering it's a lesson I have to relearn time and again in my life. And I love his character and can relate to him because of it. But that is his development and his main flaw as a character.

I disagree, he already knew to never accept defeat when we first meet him.

I really hate Ragna's attitude as well, it's a really annoying stereotype. "Mega dick to everyone around me and I insult everyone I can" *all the girls immediately care about him/fall in love with him*

Seen it a million times in crappy JRPGs

I go away for a month and the story thread goes full retard.

Anybody who says Ragna's a quitter didn't even play the game at all; go back and actually pay attention to the storyline.

Prepare for systematic hole poking in your post.

A) All BlazBlue characters were modeled after certain archetypes. Ragna was modeled after a typical sullen JRPG or anime hero. No shit you've seen it before.

B) Only three girls in the story fall for him, and even then, two of them are only heavily implied. If you even try to bring up Rachel's joke ending then you might as well just be posting "I cannot use common sense; throw rocks at me."

C) He's nice to certain people, including Tao, Jubei, Litchi (in their brief encounters), and later on to Noel.

brrnyahah

Precisely. He's still a dick that sucks.

He's not even an "anti-hero" because he has none of those traits, he's just a protagonist that's impossible to like.

It's also important to note that it's hard to be nice a cast if 85% of them want to kill you and rip your arm off upon citing you and/or think you're a criminal. He's nice to Makoto as well based off their CP dialogue.

You try being nice when everyone is trying to either kill you, molest you, telling you how much you suck, make a fool out of you, or have your arm cut off. We all know Ragna's a stereotype, but then again so are 99% of the cast and at the very least has a damn good reason for his attitude. And even then, he's mellowed severely since CT.

HURRDURR I HAVE NO PROPER RETORT AGAINST INTELLIGENT REASONING SO I'LL JUST RESTATE MY OPINION AS FACT

Pretty much what I thought.

I like this guy.

So Ragna's a pervert....welp.

In CP (and CS? not sure) Platinum asks him if he's a lolicon on their intro...and he doesn't confidently deny it.

There was one shining moment of brilliance I believe in CT when Ragna started acting intelligently and like, he suggested he had some idea of what he was doing. I can't even remember the specifics it was so short though.

Why does Ragna even start blowing up the NOL in the first place?

nobody knowssss

Who are the 3 girls that are supposed to have fallen in love with Ragna.

Ragna's kind of nice to Jin too in his own way.

Noel, Rachel, and Jin.

If you look on Google Images though, he has a relationship with Valkenhayn as well.

Ragna's pretty much nice to everyone if you think about it. Just have to look past the foul mouth.

Don't recall him ever being nice to Haku-men or Tager. Although the latter rarely encounters him.

I suppose the main problem I have with Ragna is how woefully uninformed he is. I can tell they're trying to make Ragna relatable to the player. "You have no fucking idea what's going on, well neither does Ragna!" but it just goes too far. I don't understand his motivation for anything, apart from wanting to kill Terumi. Honestly if you look at it a certain way, it's like Ragna's first choice to use the strength he gained from Jubei's training is to destabilize the government.

All I can vaguely remember is that Ragna has some issue with NOL's decision to regulate ars magus or something.

When I first played CT I thought he was going after the NOL because they were somehow related to the orphanage burning down.

And I haven't gained that much new info about it since. :P

Kushinada's Lynchpin is mentioned in CS, or at least CS Extend.

The lynchpin was mentioned by Relius in CS iirc?

Okay thanks for clarifying that. I guess it must have been an another off-hand comment and I didn't get Extend anyway.

I agree with most of what you said except for this.

Rachel and Nu are definitely in love with him. It's hinted even beyond the Joke ending (which has half-truths in it anyway). Hell Nagi and Gii tease her a bit about it in CT before she meets with Ragna and then there is her's whole bit about biting as kid in part for reasons she didn't understand. It's because of that I can actually tolerate her super bitchyness towards Ragna because at the core she just a mega tsundere when it comes to him. That childish side of Rachel also helps to knock her off her high horse a bit. I don't think I have say anything about Nu and Noel seems to have formed familial bond him IMO.

Doesn't he go after them cause of you know...the Cauldrons / Murakumo units, to put a stop to the Black Beast coming around again?

Well, how can he be nice with them, while Haku want to kill him and Tager want to take his fake arm?

Seriously if he can be frindly while Haku want to slash him and Tager want to trow him he is crazy.

So i think is natural if he doesn't friendly with Haku and Tager

It looked like he was trying to stop Nu for reasons not yet explained and the NOL soldiers just happened to be collateral damage.

I recall haku-men giving Ragna warnings from time to time, though. Although Haku-men is hardly nice about it either so I can't blame Ragna for still hating him (despite the fact that ignoring Haku-men's warnings leads to Ragna getting fooked). I just wish Ragna would shut his mouth all too often. He comes across less as a "tough guy" and more as petulant child.

It never really looked like he had any idea about the Black Beast.

It seemed like he was killing Nu because she was a clone of his sister and he couldn't let it stand.

I can't remember the details at all, but I do remember one part in CT where Ragna actually said something like "You're going to do that, bad guys?! You dumbasses, you're gonna fuck the world up!" i.e. "I ACTUALLY HAVE A CLUE WHAT I'M DOING!!"
