Maybe he had something to do with the incident involving the slaughter of Bullet's mercenary group?

Speaking of Bullet's mercenary gang, I thought they had been killed during that mission to retrieve Nirvana? I remember her arcade mode mentioning that she couldn't go on some mission to retrieve something it and it went wrong.

Yes, torturing a cyborg and dismantling a beastkin's brain produced astounding data.

Just another Tuesday night for Relius.

I love how Relius seems to not give a shit about Carl, or what he's done; his reaction to seeing him is more or less "Oh, it's you" in the most bored tone ever. He's even more of a sociopath than Hazama, at least he reacts to the shit he does.

He seems to regard Carl as a successor, but more in the vein of a "replacement." He doesn't care whether Carl likes it or not. To him its just an established fact. He even states specifically that he goes easy on Carl, and when Carl gets mad he says

(not a perfect quote, just from memory of playing Arcade once)

"Oh? You harbor an impressive hatred within your heart. You may yet do the Clover name justice."

Why doesn't he make himself filled with hate if he's so obsessed with finding someone that can hate everything.

Because he mgiht be getting too old to really go on with his research, so he needs some one younger to take his mantle. Heck, the reason why he probally got togehter with Iginis was to produce a son to do just that.

That's....would be to tragic for Carl.

The sad thing is, no matter how much he tries to deny it, Carl is becoming just like his father. The boy is essentially a sociopath in his pursuit of Relius and how he has literally no problem killing his childhood friends to get info, while still being eerily polite. And he has the sense of fashion as well.

That's what I like about Carl. Even in CT Hakumen called him out on it.

In fact, given that most of his knowledge comes from the fact that he knows the future (from his previous life) it could be that he already knows Carl is going to end up that way.

Carl's entire life to this point has been huge tragecy. And to be honest, I would be surprised if Carl DIDN'T eventually start to follow Relius' footsteps. Whenever he becomes Relius Jr. or he conintues his father's research but not in similar fashion is question on it's own right, but yeah.

Well,at least he still see human as a people, not a thing.

This only applies to Nirvana, and possibly Bang and Litchi but beyond them, he doesn't seem to give a shit about anyone else; I mean when he tried to retrieve Ragna's Azure Grimiore it never occurred to Carl that he'd be dismembering someone to get it. In fact, I remember distinctly he mentioned he was going to dissect him to get it.

So yeah, Carl really is his father's son, and the irony makes it tragic.

Isnt this because being around Nirvana strains on your sanity? Basicly making Carl go all serial killer nuts if you hit the right strings.

Which confused me, Celica was Nirvana's previous owner, but there didn't seem to be any indications that she was going insane. Though I dunno much about what occurs in the PS novels :x

Callin' it now.

Relius will tell Carl to kill him.

Carl will hesitate, but decide to do it.

Nirvana (Ada) will stop him.

Hakumen says in CT that that's just a lie Carl tells himself to justify his actions. Apparently Nirvana is fueled by the killing intent of the owner. So he's just nuts already. That's what I meant when I said Hakumen already called him out for being evil and Relius-like in CT.

Let me find the clip if it didn't get taken down.

He sees right through that punk.

The thing with Nox Nyctores is that they only effect weak minded. Celica was probally enough skillful in her mind to use Nirvana without having to suffer through the side effects.

Carl built a sister, he's gotta be strong-minded \o/

Too bad he's naturally crazy.
