kylehyde Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Can you see Terumi taking up that mantel? I'm not sure, but I would love to see Terumi wearing the Susanoo suit.
Ehecatl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) The Bang slide is pretty damn funny. "I think Rachel was just being Rachel, and telling her that if she wants to kill Ragna that's her own business, but when he "dies" she wants Izayoi to kill her too." I still don't know why she says that, not the part of her wanting to die if Ragna get's killed. But the part where she like don't give a damn if he dies now. She spent CS trying to prevent him from fighting Terumi, now she don't care who kills him. What the fuck man Jumping off the Rach and Rags ship and jumping on board the Noel and Rags ship Um, forgive me as I'm still reading through 50 million pages of posts since last I visited this forum (seriously, you guys talk too goddamn much! :P). So pardon me if someone's already appraised you and answered this for you and I'm just behind. But if not, I must ask: Are we playing the same game? Haven't you learned by now that Rachel ALWAYS says one thing and means another. It's a part of her character to always be cloaking her motives so that no one but the player understands it. And this is very in-character for her. Of course she cares if he dies. She always has. But she'll always say she doesn't. Btw I don't entirely believe that if Ragna dies, she wants to die because he's the love of her life and she just can't live without him. Dear god I sure hope that's not the reason and it'd actually be a grotesque break of character if it is. And honestly, she's one of the few women of this story I respect because there's a lot that just are so weak and pathetic that if their "man" departs from the bloody earth, they just won't be able to survive (litchi, tsubaki...) Or are just pathetic in general (Noel, though thank god that's changing). Rachel seems like one of the few "strong" women of this story that can harbor feelings for someone and not let it define her entire world. Keep in mind that she believes Ragna and Noel the only people who can change this world. What she's been fighting for is a chance to break this world from any patterned destiny. If Noel, and more importantly, Ragna are lost, she believes that chance is gone and that mankind's fate will forever be decided for it. She's lived thousands of years in such a world and doesn't want to exist anymore in that kind of place. I can get behind that. That's why I love her character. But dear god, if she turns out like Litchi, I will be sorely disappointed. But yeah, back on point, take her dismissal with a grain of salt. She's always deflecting when it comes to her motives. A consider it a defense mechanism and an understandable one considering what she's had to do for thousands of years and all the manipulating, planning, and scheming, nevermind the potential enemies that'd use it against her. Ehecatl Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 She's still a bitch tho :V Considering how insane everyone in this story is and for how many eons she had to deal with it, I'd say her 'bitchiness' is more than warranted. If I had to deal with half these people and their shit for nearly as long, I'm pretty convinced I'd turn into a psychopath before it'd all be over. :P Maybe I'm just a terrible person but I admire her RESTRAINT. :D
BlackYakuzu94 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never understood the hate for Tsubaki really. Most of it stems from the fact that she joined the NOL and wants to kill Noel, but no one ever really bothers to dig into the details on why. She's not my favorite character by any means, but I don't understand why she's so hated.
floatwater Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 She's hated because she's trying to kill another hated character but is still being hated AND outcasted by a hated character. I would say "Hateception" or "two wrongs don't make a right"
SolxBaiken Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Wait, Tsubaki is hated [like outside of gameplay post CS]? o.o I personally love Tsubaki, especially after her "Fallen" status, although I feel they will let me down on her redemption arc, but ya can't win em all.
Starlight777 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 She's hated because she's trying to kill another hated character but is still being hated AND outcasted by a hated character. I would say "Hateception" or "two wrongs don't make a right" I found her recent motives before overcoming the brainwashing and turning into Izayoi more hilarious than anything. Attempting to murder her best friend to get into Jin's theater tights sounded like a brilliant idea coming from Hazama.
NovaFortuna Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never understood the hate for Tsubaki really. Most of it stems from the fact that she joined the NOL and wants to kill Noel, but no one ever really bothers to dig into the details on why. She's not my favorite character by any means, but I don't understand why she's so hated. This is mostly a guess but I think: -She's a blind (no pun intended) justice follower when one of the most shown things in BB is that the NOL is corrupt, justice is empty (unless your justice is like Bang's which is more of doing what you think is the right thing) And she lashes out at some characters based just on whether they fit her ideal of justice or not, kinda what happens with Ragna. She's also very narrow minded. -Her jealousy is never backed up properly. Okay she loves Jin, but Jin is never shown loving her back, they are not a couple, yet she goes apeshit whenever a girl pretty much looks at him. That's not romance, that's an obsession, an issue. She was willing to go get her best friend for him without much doubts. -The whole situation could have been talked through, sure Tsubaki was angry but it was just silly, taking in count Noel does respect Jin for some reason, but doesn't like him as a person and Jin hates Noel. -The romance with Jin feels, forced, rushed, unexplored, and not very convincing. They give us symbolism, theme songs, a try to make a drama out of it. But we never get to see them having chemistry, we see Tsubaki fangirling over Jin like 97 percent of the girls of the academy, but never see or hear Jin say something or think remotely romantically about her. For all we have Jin could just like her as a cousin or friend, sure he is out to save her, but he also did that for Makoto who isn't a love interest. The whole jealousy sub plot could have worked better if Jin and Tsubaki had been in a relationship, broke up because of Jin's mental issues, both still like each other, Noel gets to be Jin's secretary and Jin actually gets along with Noel so it does seem the wrong way. Or something like that. But in order to keep Jin's psychosis, it just falls short any romance they try tu put there.
Hecatom Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never got why Noel is hated Q_Q, she is cute <3
Skye Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never got why Noel is hated Q_Q, she is cute <3 Her play style is irritating in both design and it's very necessity. Plus her "I'm the victim" personality isn't endearing to everyone. I for one find it quite irritating.
Kujikawa Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never got why Noel is hated Q_Q, she is cute <3 CS2
BlackYakuzu94 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never got why Noel is hated Q_Q, she is cute <3 As Skye pointed out, her playstyle is a pain to fight and the fact that she can't really do shit without her drive is irritating. And her Moeblob personality is kinda looked down upon on Western shores. That said, I don't hate her to the extent that everyone else does, well her personality anyway, I still hate fighting her.
Vulcan422 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I never got why Noel is hated Q_Q, she is cute <3 Her gameplay mechanics are stupid, she looks like a prostitute, and she has no personality. Her only redeeming quality is that she becomes a slightly cooler robot prostitute.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Her gameplay mechanics are stupid, she looks like a prostitute, and she has no personality. Her only redeeming quality is that she becomes a slightly cooler robot prostitute. With a stupid battle outfit.
blackhybrid Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 With a stupid battle outfit. I hate her battle outfit... pre-battle one is better but ah well... B-but... I love Noel. D:
Vulcan422 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 With a stupid battle outfit. That's why I called her a robot prostitute.
Kuraudo_V6 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 As Skye pointed out, her playstyle is a pain to fight and the fact that she can't really do shit without her drive is irritating. Honestly, who CAN function without their drives? Unless you're talking about many of Noel's combos starting with drives, I don't think it's a big deal. Frankly, I find characters like Arakune or Tao even worse to fight against. But that's just me.
Gespenst Ritter Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 But Noel's entire point is to be the overpowered Mary Sue insert who's not supposed to be in the story.
bakahyl Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Honestly, who CAN function without their drives? Unless you're talking about many of Noel's combos starting with drives, I don't think it's a big deal. Hakumen can function almost fine without any of his drives, jk
NovaFortuna Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) To me Noel feels out of place. Well she is in story, but I mean her cute, shy personality and clumsiness would be pretty endearing if BB was a comedy or slice of life. Yet she's the main character after Rags, you kinda want some competence and the story repeatedly shows she's bad at everything, her accomplishments are because something or someone else is babysitting her and still has a load of plot bias. *shrugs* I don't hate her, though, but she does get on my nerves at moments Edited April 15, 2013 by NovaFortuna
YukiBlue Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I wish someone would just die in BB without getting insta'rez'd because they're actually invincible / tied to the world / blah blah blah.
_rFX Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I don't know. I don't usually go for her type of character, but I'd say that I'm fairly fond of Noel. At least, by association. When she runs up to Jin with such a cheery demeanor, then he just verbally destroys her soul, and she's left there whimpering; hilarious. The way she keeps psyching herself up to do her job and deal with the crazies, only to get shot down so hard every time by nearly everyone is priceless. If she were in permanent sad-sap mode it wouldn't be the same. The optimism is what makes her incompetence amusing. Gameplay-wise, she's really obnoxious though. Easy to see why so many people hate her.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Hakumen can function almost fine without any of his drives, jk Actually...this isn't too far from the truth. Hakumen's drive is a bonus almost. I think its funny how Noel's best moments come from her suffering, a lot. Sadist we are. But yea, her personality is very much akin a slice of life moe series.....In Blazblue? Not so much. I guess I do kinda like how her Mary Sue traits are exploited tho. She has no idea how to use her phenomenal powers, or even what they were and everyone basically use her for their own ends. Basically she's a tool of a Mary Sue. Priceless.
