Wait, so she has like a mode like Aigis`?

Gain Art mode is kind of similar to a degree to Aigis Orgia mode.

Izayoi gains the ability to use different normals(her C normals change/other things)and her movement becomes alot better.

She can glide towards you, then she can do a faster overhead or a low. Plus she can do teleports behind you and Sonic Saber D version can lock your opponent down and give you oki on their wake-up depending on how they tech.

You gain the stars for all this in Normal mode yourself and then you can use Gain Art mode. Her Gain Art mode isnt that effective with out the stars and you can switch back and forth between the two modes at will.

Dang Mac lol.

She's like a mix between Hakumen/Tsubaki with slow normals and decent range.

Tsubakumen.

Im pretty sure there is no footage of Kuresu playing Izayoi. Maybe you mean someone else

Out all of the Izayois Ive seen, Riku was the most consistent. But he hasnt shown up much or in awhile.

Kuresu has really good movement with Izayoi.

Sadly there isnt a Izayoi player thats really that consistent.

The footage we get from each player is once a month or less.

???

.......

I didnt get a chance to check the vids today because i was working the entire day

Edit: He was pretty good with her. Guess hes still unfamiliar with her combo theory. Wish he did 6B/3C oki instead of continuing corner combos

Is there a reason for that? Usually a lack of players, especially strong players is because the character is either sucky (Makoto) or complicated (Valkenhayn, Arakune). And seeing Kuresu use her, really made me see her potential as a character. She really reminds me of Ino with how her pressure works due to her unique dash, she's like Ino, Tsubaki, Hakumen, Johnny, and a dash of Jin all in one.

Shisshou is quite consistent, and he's alright I suppose. This is the reason I haven't made a notable player match section in the video thread. Riku started off good but then seemed to power down in the later matches.

Speaking of which, there are more videos of Shisshou (unable to link videos atm). Will update video thread when I get the chance.

Actually I forgot about Shisshou. There are alot of vids of him that showed up early this morning too.

I wanna take a guess and say her character design is just different. Izayoi has decent range but her normals are suppose to be slow maybe. Her moves also seem to whiff at certain ranges too. Her moves also whiff alot on different characters so her combos are more character specific. She also lacks reversal options without meter so for players who don't like blocking for long periods of time will not like her. While her Justice distortion can be used as a reversal and its safe on block; on wake-up its a bad option. You can simply jump over it and most characters can probably mash out a distortion if the opponent does something that's not a block string if I'm correct. Then you have the two mode changes you would have be efficient at also in all her MUs too. She doesnt seem bad imo but other characters on the game are better atm.

Edit:

If you got google translator or know japanese which I dont know japanese

You can see what I meant by character specific combos.

I use google translator which could be 100% wrong but you can see how her combos change alot on different characters.

So basically her complexity and lack of "straightforwardness" is the reason she's not played. Unless Kuresu (or someone like him), can make her shine.

Thats was the best guess I could make out on the reason she's not played often.

I know the lack of reversal options meterless and slow normals(if she has them) will turn anyone away in general.

The highest Dan ranking i've seen for her was 15th dan and that player dropped to 14thdan now.

I think one of the reasons Izayoi isn't used very much is because of the fact that her Neutral Game isn't the best... (From what I seen, her only useful tool in her neutral game being Sonic Saber...)

It might not be the best, but about that second thing...I really disagree. 623B is incredible, and her 5B is pretty solid too.

Kuresu has good space control, but he isnt really showing anything new

Her normals arent that slow overall. low profile 2A helps a lot too.

@Tectal: I dont think her combos are THAT char spec. Most of the "character specific" woes come from normal mode 236B 214A 2B etc etc due to varying hitboxes when characters get OTG'd (or being on the ground in the case of A Mira > Aegis blade otg). In terms of practical usage it really isnt a big deal in terms of maximizing damage thanks to the new prorate system, but even so i believe a LOT of that can be fixed with dash buffering, but i really havent seen that at all haha.

Either way, Hyped to use Izayoi! (Along with Bullet!) Hope CP Comes out on PS3 soon, the wait's killing me!

I think her normals are just kind of awkward. Not slow. Just have to know your spacing it looks like. 623B is indeed pretty stupid. It really needs to be used more. Kuresu didn't do anything groundbreaking, but he did do about 2 notable things I made notes of. Pretty much what I've been doing ever since she was revealed. Compiling everything I see that's notable. So many things I want to test with her. Only thing I know I won't enjoy are the 236B > 214A > 2B combo routes. They look like a pain in the ass to confirm usually if your spacing a bit off, and I would rather not go into the 623B > 623B ender. Maybe dash buffering will work like skd said. But we cant really try that yet

(from arcadia) izayoi full charge crush trigger guard breaks, even on barrier. maybe OD D saber RC/D teleport whiff cancel > CT on oki? lmao

Its +2 on block, crumple state on ground hit, hard knockdown on air hit.

Does CT work the same way for the rest of the chars? That's cool.

I think on full charge they just deplete alot of the barrier guage. At least thats what was said a good while ago. Maybe Izayoi's an exception, maybe shes not
