I concur that things were kind of too fast (thought it's beating a dead horse by this point). But, if they are planning on doing some multiple loops then I can kind of understand. But, if I were a random dude that just turned on the show, I'd just be like "lolwut?" and not watch it again. That's kind of a problem.

Really, the first episode should've ended with Noel giving Jin the letter and Jin just being like "RAGNA!!!?!aifhasishfiafosfnaisfnaifonani". That plus some of brief flashbacks to the church would've given viewers something to really look forward to. I liked how it started though. That was good foreshadowing of all the shenanigans that were about to occur.

So basically, it should've been Nu, Cauldron, Ragna destroying stuff, Rachel, a couple flashbacks, Tao, Hazama trolling Rachel, more flashbacks, Jin and Noel. I think that would've been better. It would've left the viewer with a "Are those 2 the people in Ragna's flashback?" type thing.

Seconded, I couldn't agree more.

I kinda would have structured it similar to Calamity Trigger Reconstruction; cycling between the perspectives of Ragna, Jin, and Noel as they encounter different characters for about 2-3 episodes, then go all the time loop crap. The last few episodes could cover the true ending.

Adapting Blazblue into an anime is hard because of the goddamn time loops; you can't omit them because they are a vital part of the story, but because of that it leads to some samey material.

They could have focused more in Ragna's story for 2-3 episodes, the end of his story ends up with him falling into the cauldron with Nu. They could do it like the actual opening they used in the anime but with a fight lasting longer than 40 seconds (which had at least 7 seconds of a close-up of Nu's butt, but that's not the point here) then Rachel saying that he failed again and that the world was going to repeat itself again or whatever. Then story of the other characters, each in a timeloop (with some exceptions) and it would be great.

Which is what I was trying to say, but with more words. I'd have loved to see the Carl vs. Nu-13 battle.

No one is judging the whole series based on the just the first episode, people are just pointing out the good/bad points of the episode itself and what it could improve on.

And Hazama being a villain was painfully obvious in CT, that's not a spoiler.

Im gonna call bs on hazama being the obvious villan in CT. I mean all he did was run away like a coward when shit went down hill.

^ Yeah that was kind of strange. Especially when he starts forming it, I thought it was going to turn into something really cool. And then he just throws a little piece of ice lol.

If the anime keeps stuff like this up, then it won't be long before we see glorious OUALITY Hazama again lol.

Shit never went downhill for Hazama in CT. He achieved both his objectives at the time: Break the loops and get observed by Noel. Unless you meant that he bailed every time that anyone fought with Noel. If that was the case it's a simple thing about not blowing his cover.

Anyway, regarding Hazama's obvious villainy, at least they didn't spoil that he's Terumi and all that stuff.

I thought Hazama being a villain was pointed out at the very start of the game. I don't see why they would want to cover it up until futher down the show.

He was kinda pointed as a villain. Not the villain that basically moves the plot. The beginning of Noel's story makes he seem like a random coward that can't fight.

Yeah. Hazama being a bad dude was kind of obvious from early on, but it was never that obvious he was THE bad dude. Maybe this is just the impression I got from playing CT, but he seemed to have kind of an evil lackey vibe to him, like the NOL itself was the secret Big Bad and he was there on some clandestine mission to keep an eye on everyone. His feigned cowardice and seeming inability to fight backed that up quite well. When you found out he was actually the absurdly powerful mastermind behind everything, it was appropriately shocking.

The anime throws all that out the window. Not only does it show everyone right away that he's a villain, but it makes it very clear he's the one pulling the strings.

Talking about the Ragna/Jin fight, aside from Jin's ice brick, I thought the fight was handled pretty well in terms of the animation and choreography. The only problem I have with the fight is, once again, the story and pacing. Ragna and Jin having their epic showdown was something the story took way more time to lead up to in the game. We knew so much more about both characters and their respective motivations that their fight had way more gravity to it. In contrast, the anime had almost no buildup at all. Rags and Jin see each other, there's the reveal they're brothers, and before you even have a chance to properly digest the implications of that, boom, REBEL ONE ACTION. I can't imagine why someone with no prior knowledge of these characters would be the least bit emotionally invested in their fight.

Maybe they could've made the first half of the episode the memories of the fire, then he meets Jin at the end of the episode. Or maybe the 2nd.

Exactly. If the first episode ended with Ragna meeting Jin it would be an awesome cliffhanger. But I still think that the second episode is going to be less rushed.

Anyway, the title of the anime is Blazblue Alter Memory. Does that mean that CT is going to be retconned again? Can I just throw my original Blazblue Retcon Trigger out or should I use it to practice Nu combos or something? :v:

Yea, that's kinda what I expected; setting up the Ragna & Jin fight, and then setting up the Ragna vs. Hakumen fight.etc. etc.

So it looks like CT is already over then?

That's good for CS then without all of the additional side plot CT had. Now they can focus on that in CS.

I wonder what they're going to do. They only have, uh, 1 more episode before CP is out. I guess that doesn't matter, but maybe it's going to take it up to the start of CP? Sorry I don't read this thread much!

Can't say for sure, majority of the users here say this'll wrap up the CT side of the story into the start of CS, but we'll see if that happens soon enough once Ep.2 is up.
